Mambo Kurt: The King is Back... in Music ·
You can grab tickets starting today at Dancing Bear, that crusty little dive bar downtown, or just hit up the counter at the IEEE booth...

They're going for $12

I’m actually wondering how long they're gonna drag out this 30th anniversary of punk. Probably another 7 years before they start obsessing over the 40th 🙄

Man, they’re out here celebrating 30 years of punk, even though it should really be the 38th anniversary. And get this—the celebration just happens to land on the anniversary of that one preppy guy passing away, who somehow became a total punk icon for reasons I still don't quite get. 🤷

It's like if you were booking a The Fall show for 2005 and put Ian Curtis on the poster just because that's when he died, all while trying to "celebrate" 30 years of post-punk... man, Mark E. Smith would literally murder you for that. It's just stupid.☕

Back at the Post Office, people were jumping off the balcony because stage diving was banned since the stage was super shaky and the sound system looked like it might collapse any second...
People were jumping off those thick wooden planks by the mirrors too, and they ended up breaking them...
And the sink in the guys' restroom went missing—though I doubt anyone was actually washing up in it...

Man, that sounds exactly like some wild campaign a big Madison Avenue agency was cooking up a while back... honestly, I have no clue if they ever actually pulled it off.
did anyone actually see any stage diving?

Man, Mambo Kurt is totally losing it...check this out how he absolutely trashed his ego on a motorcycle after that last big set at Coachella😲

...after three years away, the funniest German guy on the planet is finally coming back to the place that loves him most... he even dropped a new album where he basically rips through hits like: Killing in the Name, Smells Like Teen Spirit, Private Dancer, Dancing Queen, Sing Hallelujah, and God Save the Queen...

So here's the deal...

The IEEE disco crew and the SC culture movement are bringing you the biggest coffeehouse party on earth...

Check it out Mambo's masterpiece where you can spin Killing in the Name, and right here you can see what happens when one guy goes absolutely wild on the organs in front of thousands of people...

Since he managed to pack out the whole venue two days in a row last time—and honestly could've kept going if we let him—we decided to go all out and make this a massive spectacle :2up:

Stage diving is definitely encouraged again this time :2up:

gentlepuma20 said:Alright, "Freeze" is solid, and the covers are decent too ("Echoes" and "Willie The Pimp"), but covers don't really count.

Come on, how can you say "Willie The Pimp" is good when "Echoes" is just a disaster?
Truth is, they drag things out way too much on this album. They lost that specific vibe that made the Lizards feel so magical back in the day... everything feels kind of hollow now, even if there are some genuinely great moments...

And honestly, the concert was booked mostly because of Radiohead, who (let me quote what I wrote on the forums a few weeks ago) used to be basically a religious experience for us back in the nineties...

Ugh, here we go again. Honestly, this just gives me more reason to stick with my cycling routine... maybe the higher-ups in Washington, D.C. actually had a bigger plan all along—GET EVERYONE ON BIKES!!!

All we needed was one more massive avenue mall... honestly, screw whoever greenlit that giant shopping center right in the heart of downtown Washington, D.C.... now we’ve got total gridlock where there used to be nothing... great job.
listen to the experts sometimes, you idiots.🙂

here it is the full set from Empty Bottle... it's wild how they pull all of this off live...
I love how little Braxton processes his vocals so it sounds like a boy choir singing from somewhere above you... so good.

I guess you didn't really get what I was getting at.🙂
Ryan Gonzalez13 said:Jesse Sanchez60, what kind of good stuff are you planning for the fall/winter season? I've only heard about the nationalists so far (which is already huge).

There'll be plenty of solid little shows coming up, but I'll drop all the details in another thread soon.😉

Yeah, you're totally right about that... we could've just put Rosin Murphy as the headliner on the Apple stage, moved Happy Mondays to 7 PM since they're barely even conscious during their daytime sets, and slotted NY Dolls right before SY. Problem solved, everyone wins...
Man, you guys are getting way too spoiled... if you want a massive festival, you’ve gotta be ready to make some compromises...

With festivals this size, the person booking the acts doesn't really have total freedom. Sponsors dictate a lot of the rules. They usually control the whole look and feel, and in this case, they're clearly demanding that certain headliners play the Apple stage since Apple is a main sponsor alongside VIP. Since VIP put up more cash, they get the bigger names on the main stage, but obviously, Apple needs at least one big name on their stage too, so they won't just be playing opening acts for some random indie band.

It all makes perfect sense to me, and I don't get why everyone is complaining so much. Most of you will be trashed by 10 PM anyway, and you won't give a damn about some half-dead Iggy Pop when the beat drops. Same goes for Sonic Youth—you'll be fighting for front-row spots thirty minutes before they play, without giving a single thought to the New York Dolls.

The only thing that bugs me is the organizer comparing us to those huge European festivals... honestly, who cares about what happens over there?
how long can the Happy Mondays even last? i feel like they can barely stay upright for thirty minutes 🤔

eventually paradise is gonna be such a blast that everyone will just ditch the Stooges, and these guys will probably drag their set out forever just to keep the crowd from leaving...
