Best violent scenes? in Movies ·
ironcrane7 said:I feel like this subforum is getting way too niche. The trash section is where all the action is lately.

You’re just jealous because you didn't think of it before I did. 😈 😬 Besides, there aren't even any new threads worth reading—not even the "former" Hercule Poirot has checked out that massive recent poll on Full Metal Jacket vs Apocalypse Now. 😁
And this doesn't necessarily have anything to do with trash movies. 🙂 Action flicks are full of violence, even the romances involving characters like Nurse Betty. That scalping scene is basically the only reason to watch the film...

Honestly, it’s all just whining these days. Every sensitive parent and moral guardian is complaining about too much violence in movies and games, even pushing for censorship—which basically means we won't be seeing Sharon Stone naked in Basic Instinct anymore. But let's not get bogged down in that. Instead, let's talk about what actually matters: what are the most brutal, intense, bloody, and violent scenes ever put to film? And if you can, please include some graphic images, just to filter out the softies who can't handle this kind of stuff. 😈
It's predictable, I know, but my pick for the best violent scene has to be from Evil Dead 2. That bloodbath in the basement when the witch grabs that guy and drags him down into the dark...

Best opening scenes of all time? in Movies ·
Alex Hall4 said:Regarding "new" stuff, I can't help but think of the American remake of The Grudge, specifically that scene where the guy falls off the balcony. I never saw it coming.

🤮 Total garbage compared to the scene in The Man Who Would Be King, when Sean Connery leaps into the abyss from a rope bridge...

I had some trouble getting my registration sorted, and now that I've actually managed to get things moving, I noticed my post count is off—it says I have 3 posts when I know for a fact I've written at least 5. Also, that little icon under the username on the right side (the one used for reporting posts to the mods) isn't showing up. Any idea how to fix this?

Just give me your password and I'll fix it for you. 😈

They threw werewolves and vampires into the same story. It’s actually a pretty solid flick; they managed to plug all the plot holes with some decent special effects. I'm sure the old-school crowd will start complaining that it’s a rip-off if there was some similar cult classic out there before, but since I can't think of anything quite like it, I'll give it a pass... 👍 👍 👍 A solid three plus...

I haven't seen anything quite like this, even if they are lifting material from Vampire: The Masquerade... though the opening bears a striking resemblance to The Matrix.

If I did, would you have an issue with it? 😁

No, not at all. If anything, you're even cooler now. 👍 (though if I actually said I liked it, Hercule Poirot might come after me again for being a pansy 😬 )

I am. 🙄 🙂 But what is there left to say? Unless you just aren't a fan of Westerns...

Tyler Sanchez said:Well, you certainly picked a lively topic. King finally went full sci-fi with the aliens, which just doesn't suit him. Personally, what I loved about his work was knowing that evil came straight from hell—no gray areas. He used to be this intense moralist, an old-school principled guy, almost like Frank Capra. Now? He’s just bland. I was expecting a classic Castle Rock production reminiscent of his 80s era, but instead, we got this total dud starring that mediocre New Kids on the Block actor. It was awful, and that’s about all I remember.

And he keeps constantly pushing these disabled or marginalized characters who get bullied, clearly trying to squeeze sympathy out of the reader because he's running low on actual ideas... He’s recycling too much from his older books in Dreamcatcher. He should leave the aliens to Steven Spielberg; he's the "expert" on that stuff.

driftingmason7 said:Fine, I’ll just track down the original. I couldn't care less about the remake, especially with Paris Hilton in the cast... give me a break. Though, if I heard correctly, Michael Murray is in it, and he's actually decent enough...

Yeah, the only scene before the kill is her smoking with her boyfriend—which she seems to be an expert at, judging by that one adult film 😂...

driftingmason7 said:I'll definitely check it out. I wanted to ask you if House of Wax is actually worth watching? I don't know, a friend of mine is obsessed with it, but I haven't gotten around to it yet, so I figured I'd ask someone who might actually know.
others told me the remake is absolute garbage, but the original is solid.

Look, here’s the deal. The original has an excellent story, Vincent Price, great music, impressive effects for its era, a compelling plot, and a decent twist. It’s a genuinely enjoyable horror classic that still holds up today... it's engaging and well-made. As for that remake? It’s just a pure slasher—a killer hunting down teenagers. The main selling points are excessive blood, sex, violence, and plenty of young people acting as cannon fodder. And then there's the incredibly idiotic Paris Hilton, who proved in her fifteen minutes of screen time that she can't act. Whoever told you the remake is trash was right; it barely even qualifies as a remake. They should be hung by their balls for it. And I wouldn't call the original just "solid"... it's much more than that.

So, if you want a horror classic, watch the original. If you just want a mindless slasher filled with kills, go with the remake. Your choice. But obviously, I recommend the original... better music, better atmosphere, more interesting, more original, and best of all, no obnoxious teenagers. 😁
You should also make sure to watch Waxwork or Monster Club...

driftingmason7 said:The visuals are pretty impressive. I'll have to check out most of those; I watched Dawn of the Dead and that was a great film too.

Heh, finally a movie where we actually agree, whether you're talking about the remake or the original. 👍
If you're looking for more quality picks like this, just head over to my signed reviews on BrainDead. You won't regret it. Plenty of stills there, too.

Craving dismemberment, blood, and pure violence? This is the real deal, unlike that lukewarm garbage known as Wrong Turn.

driftingmason7 said:Treating Wrong Turn as a horror movie is a mistake from the get-go. It’s hard to take this one as even a decent thriller, but hey, it stars Eliza Duskh—yum—plus you’ve got cannibals with great makeup—wow—body parts flying everywhere—wow—and all sorts of other nonsense that just ruins the film... yuck.

So, you have a taste for garbage, then?
Give me a break. Watching a terrible movie just because Eliza Duskh is in it? I like Sandra Bullock, sure, but I’m not sitting through her entire filmography, much less Mission: Impossible. 🤮 Or Michael Caine, whom I adore, but certainly not that Mission: Impossible mess. Or Robert de Niro—I strictly avoid those Fowler types. Just analizirati that series and that fan crap.
If you want cannibals, stick to the Texas Chainsaw Massacre franchise, Cannibal Holocaust, Hannibal, or The Silence of the Lambs. Or maybe Parents, some zombie flicks, or that drama about survivors in the Alps eating the dead. Just stay away from Wrong Turn. "Well-made" cannibals? Please. 👎
Body horror? You think that's the only film with those scenes? There's The Thing, Day of the Dead, Dawn of the Dead, various cult classics, Conan, and plenty of others, all crafted with significantly more skill.

The truth is, the movie is trash because the plot is stolen, the writing is lazy, the acting is subpar, the cannibals are forgettable, and it relies on cheap gore to appeal to kids looking for mindless carnage. I'd rather watch House of 1000 Corpses a hundred times over than sit through Wrong Turn again... 🙂

When did I ever say I don't like the classics?

Yeah, it might bore me, but I’ll give it a shot. I'm certainly setting different standards than I did for those supposed "films of the future." I'm not a fan of older movies, but I watched American Werewolf in London the other day and it was actually wicked... definitely didn't expect that level of quality from an 80s flick.

😈 Just give a look at that picture in the topic wrong turn already.
