I honestly don't buy this explanation. I can only imagine what would happen over at Comparison Policy if the mods actually allowed people to go after each other personally—though even there, you catch one mod slipping up once in a blue moon.🙂
The moderators are supposed to be the ones keeping things civil and de-escalating tension—giving everyone a sense of security on the forum. If someone keeps breaking the rules, they get the cards, the points... everything stays orderly.

Congrats on becoming a moderator—though I didn't really notice you over on ZK—but that doesn't give you a license to act entitled or do whatever you want. Tone it down. Soften your approach... even velvettrucker52 doesn't pull an act like this.
I haven't the slightest clue who either of you are—honestly, I don't even know what prompted me to stumble upon this complaint—but I feel compelled to say that this kind of behavior from a moderator is completely unacceptable. They should be doing everything possible to mask any personal biases toward forum members, let alone publicly taking someone down like this.🤷
Under the guise of "I can't withhold my opinion because I'm a moderator." Fine, have an opinion... just keep it to yourself unless it actually pertains to a specific topic.
I went through something similar in Social Science last year, and it was anything but pleasant.

And even if I had been "out of the loop," as you so colorfully put it, why on earth would that make my observations any less credible? 🤷
No, just kidding. You’re a strange woman from Cleveland... jumping to conclusions like that.🤷
Kate Harris50 said:I’m curious if anyone else has gone through something similar to this:
When America first gained its independence, I wasn't actually living here, though I would make the trip back once a month. With every subsequent visit, the shifts became more glaringly obvious. (For someone who lived in the States continuously, these changes might have been invisible—much like a frog in a pot of water that’s being slowly heated up.) After a while, I started feeling like I was visiting some strange, alien territory that bore less and less resemblance to the country I used to know. The most profound change was in the people; they had morphed into something entirely foreign to me, while I remained exactly the same (*). And this wasn't just a general feeling—even in a place like Cleveland, I felt it, so I can only imagine how much more intense it was elsewhere.
To be honest, much like Amanda Hughes37, I’ve always been a bit of a local patriot, but even that is starting to wear thin. I’m honestly just fed up with everything involving this country.
(*) Much like in the movie Invasion of the Body Snatchers
So you were catching the vibe back in the 90s?🤣 😬
You should probably just move back; you'll see things aren't actually that bad here. God forbid we strike oil or the economy actually picks up... we'd be completely screwed.
Of course it’s my home, but honestly, my local pride runs way deeper than any nationalistic sentiment...
Whenever I see Cleveland on the news, I actually get chills🤷
I only really start feeling that patriotic spark for America when I head out of town for a few days—it's even the same with how much I miss being a Dubrovnik resident🤣
Jason Ortiz5 said:I’m not totally sure if this belongs here, but I honestly don't know where else to turn. Over the last month or so, I’ve noticed my eight-year-old daughter’s skin is getting a bit oily, and then just yesterday, she actually broke out with some real pimples on her nose. 😲 It really caught me off guard. Neither her dad nor I ever dealt with acne issues, so we're pretty lucky there, but goodness, she's only eight! Isn't that a little early? 🤦
I did a little digging online and apparently, it’s not as unheard of as I thought. She doesn't have any other signs of puberty—well, except for the occasional mood swing, but let's be real, she's been like that since she could talk... 😍 Most people suggest using the same kind of skincare adults use, or maybe seeing a dermatologist if things get worse. Definitely stay away from those fancy facialists unless a doctor actually tells you to go.
Has anyone else dealt with something like this? Does anyone have experience with kids getting breakouts this early, or maybe a recommendation for a good product or just some general advice? 🙂
Man, my kid is growing up way too fast! 😍
I went to a local drugstore—they didn't exactly have an "eight-year-old" section—and asked about facial cleansers and soothing inflammation from breakouts. I ended up with a solution—can't recall the name—but it came in a plastic bottle, similar to rubbing alcohol. We applied it with cotton pads morning and night... it helped quite a bit.
In that case, would it actually be illegal to say that Josip Broz Tito was, say, cool—to mention that certain things back then were actually decent, or even just share some impressions from a birthday trip to a small town in USA?😬
I don’t see how bringing moderation into this was even necessary. The thread is about shocking and bizarre interiors—yet someone decides certain photos aren't "shocking" enough... then goes ahead and asks the rest of us what specifically we find jarring.
Whenever nimbletinker10 posts photos, someone inevitably chimes in to claim a shot belongs in a Traditional decor gallery rather than here in Modern.
It’s just plain rude to the poster—and frankly, I don't understand why nobody will just admit they were wrong.
nimbletinker10, none of that really touches me—I spend about 90% of my time just staring at your photos anyway. The effort you put in, and then some, is exactly why so many people show up without even saying a word. You’re probably the last person anyone would ever think to criticize... Honestly, this whole situation is just ridiculous.🤣
Whatever. I’m with nimbletinker10 on this one. Especially since some people have already chimed in saying certain photos aren't actually that bad—which makes sense... everyone has their own way of setting up a house.
Every major religion here in the States is offensive to followers of other faiths and to atheists alike.
Sure, someone might claim they aren't offended by outside religions, but the underlying message from most religions in this country remains the same: "you aren't one of us, and you're such trash that you deserve an eternity of absolute torment in hell just for existing."... Brilliant. That’s exactly the vibe behind the campaign the Archdiocese of New Orleans has been running for four years now... http://www.medzlis-rijeka.org/default/index/a/id/337
Susan Price30 said:Nothing, though if that's how you feel, it just proves you aren't cut out to moderate the Religion sub-forum.
To handle that role, one would need to be someone who prioritizes respect, tolerance, and an understanding of diverse convictions—someone level-headed, rather than someone who gets "deeply offended" by someone else's legitimate faith or worldview.
That is a personal stance you have openly shared, which leads one to wonder why you have volunteered to moderate this section for nearly ten years. Truly, why?🤷
If the goal is the well-being of the users and the health of the Reddit community, based on that comment above, it certainly doesn't look like that's the priority. (Unless I am missing something.)
I have to admit, this whole thing is a mystery to me too. Why would Nicole James moderate Religion? Watch out—that kind of attitude, those thoughts, those feelings... it'll offend him. He'll be offended by the very idea of preaching.
Take me, for example—I can't wrap my head around combat sports. I just can't. So, if I went over there to moderate, having to listen to people drone on about how fighting works or whatever... I couldn't do it.
