Paxil: weight gain or weight loss? in Health ·
Honestly, the scale going up or down shouldn't be your main concern. Everyone reacts to AD differently; just because someone else packed on some pounds doesn't mean you're destined to do the same. You might gain a little, you might drop a few, or you might just stay exactly where you are. It really all boils down to how your body handles the AD and what your eating habits look like.
There’s more info on this in the Psychology PDF 🙂

Anyone here tried or still taking Amyzol?
I’ve been on it for about a month now, and honestly, it’s the first antidepressant that actually clicks for me. My doctor mentioned that my system just doesn't play nice with that whole class of drugs like Paxil, Lexapro, or Faverin. With Amyzol, I haven't dealt with any side effects at all—it feels like a total reset. My mood is way up and I actually have enough energy to get stuff done, though it hasn't done much for my OCD specifically.

I think I need to hit up the Psychic next Saturday, provided my plus-one doesn't cause too much trouble 🥳

Satur works better for me since I’ve got my sessions at the Psychic on those days, so dragging myself all the way into Chicago on a Sunday just isn't happening. But look, don't go planning everything just around my schedule—I don't want to be the one who messes up everyone's weekend if I end up being a flake and can't make it. 😁

I don't know.
If those three things are bugging you, they don't necessarily have to be linked. It's totally possible for someone to deal with multiple different issues that aren't even related to each other.

I honestly think Triska was being sarcastic 😁

But seriously, I’d only show up if it wasn't tomorrow—otherwise, I'd miss my last bus home at 7:45. Personally, a late slot like that wouldn't work for me even on the weekends 🙂

Don't tell me you were actually trying to pull that off with a tiny little W 😬

I was thinking maybe apathy is what's going on here.
Or is that basically the same thing? 🤔

For me, talking things through with a professional was actually incredibly helpful, but that whole drugged, zombie-like feeling from the medication... it was just awful. I really regret ever taking them. I mean, if Lexapro alone is enough to make me drowsy, why on earth would they prescribe both Valium and Xanax on top of it? I managed to get through my mom's passing and her serious illness without any medication at all, so this level of sedation is definitely not something I need right now. I only ended up seeking professional help because I hit a breaking point a few months after she passed.

He probably just made a call based on his gut feeling about you or just what you told him. You said you couldn't sleep? Makes sense they'd hand over sleeping pills. You're scattered and anxious? Boom, there's Ativan on the list. You hit a crisis? Voila, here's an antidepressant.

If you were seeing a state-funded clinic, don't go expecting much in the way of actual psychotherapy or deep conversation.

Personally, neither Lexapro nor Paxil worked for me. They were awful. Both had terrible side effects. Just felt drugged and out of it almost 24/7.

Realistically, if you think you know more than your doctor, you can always just buy stuff on the street. Why even bother seeing someone you don't trust?

I've been on Xanax for 12 days now—feeling better, side effects are tapering off, and overall I'm doing pretty well! I haven't touched my Klonopin before bed for three days straight and it feels great...
Question for the group: since my buddy's wedding is coming up, I wanted to know if it's okay to have maybe two beers? What would that look like? Is it alright to have a tiny amount, or is even a single drop of alcohol strictly off-limits? I'm not talking about getting drunk—just a quick toast...
Thanks for the input.
☺

Personally, I wouldn't mix meds and booze, especially this early on.

I’m sure there’s been a ton of chatter about St. John's Wort already, but honestly, I just don't have the bandwidth to scroll through every single thread...

So, here's the deal: lately, I haven't been able to catch any Z's without using Praxiteles. Since I’m super wary of pills and that whole addiction thing, I decided to try some St. John's Wort tea instead. But then... someone told me I shouldn't mix it with antidepressants! Now I'm spiraling because I'm not even sure which category Praxiteles falls into. Can I safely take Praxiteles if I'm sipping on this tea?

You guys would be absolute lifesavers if you could help me out. Thanks! 🙂

The pharmacist told me that St. John's Wort can only be mixed with anti-anxiety meds if you're only taking them once in a while. You're better off just calling your doctor to get their take, because if you're on Paxil every day, that doesn't exactly count as "as needed." Better to ask a hundred times than to skip the question and totally screw things up.😉
Maria Howard70, I am so incredibly sorry for your loss😢.

Back again with more questions.
My grandpa just had a CT scan and a follow-up, and it turns out they managed to get the whole tumor out of his abdominal cavity (🙏), but it’s spread to his lungs—the doctors are seeing shadows there. His doctor told him it’s the kind of cancer you can actually live with for years, provided he gets on this specific medication. He won't need radiation or chemo.
The catch is, this drug is insanely expensive (his wife said one box goes for $40,000) and she’s waiting on the medical board to approve the prescription. Does anyone have any idea how long the wait usually is for a decision like that?

Look, I’ve always said that if you think you're ready for the sex part, you better be just as ready to head to the OB-GYN. If you can't handle the checkup, then you aren't actually ready for the first thing. ☕

Zachary Stewart2 said:Anyone else feel like they’ve just built up a massive tolerance to their meds? Honestly—I’ve been on mine for a while now, and it feels like they barely even touch the surface anymore. It's like my body just stopped listening.

Ativan still works for me after four years. I just tweak the dose depending on how bad things are getting. Some days I need more, some days less, and right now I'm mixing them a bit. Overall, it gets the job done. Haven't even bothered trying other sedatives—never really had to.
