Alcohol and pill addiction in your early 20s? in Psychology & Therapy ·
Bradley Nguyen13 said:Hey,

My boyfriend is 22, I'm 24, and we're both college students.
He’s been dealing with panic attacks since middle school and saw a therapist back then. Once he got to high school, he started taking prescription anti-anxiety meds—I don't know the names, just that they're Rx. He hasn't seen a therapist since high school, though; instead, he just relies on pills he gets from family members or sleep aids, which I think are Sanvala. He claims the panic attacks are gone, but he keeps taking the pills because he says he's "used to them" and is terrified they'll come back if he stops.
Besides the fact that his habit worries me—since he's popping pills almost every single day for no reason—he also drinks an insane amount of alcohol. It's mostly beer, but I'm not talking about one or two after lunch. He's drinking from the morning, skipping breakfast for a few, then having more in the afternoon, and then topping it all off with more at night along with those pills. He rarely even seems drunk; he's so used to it that he functions totally fine even after his tenth beer, but once he takes that pill, he just crashes—gets cold and totally checked out.
He’s never aggressive, always super chill, and there are stretches lasting up to two weeks where he doesn't touch the pills or the booze, but he always ends up sliding right back into old habits. Is it possible that at 22, he's already addicted to alcohol and pills?
Also, I desperately need advice on how to handle him when he's like this. I don't know if I should yell at him, shower him with love, or what. When he's with me, especially when he stays at my apartment for a few days, he doesn't drink or take anything. Most of the time, I only find out about these episodes when his family calls me begging me to talk to him and try to force him to stop.

Any advice means the world to me, thanks in advance! Sorry for the long post!

Look, age doesn't matter here—it's about how long they've been hitting the bottle and popping pills. Based on what you're saying, yeah, they're an addict. Period. No debate needed.
Dog or cat bites... in Health ·
Got bit when I was 4—ended up needing stitches and rocking a scar on my stomach until I was 10.
I barely remember the whole thing, honestly, but I still absolutely love dogs.😍

So, I guess people who actually put in the effort and have decent work ethic are just pathetic now. Maybe that's how it works.
People who actually try to get things done are just pathetic, I guess. Maybe.
So, according to your logic, thieves are actually cool—especially if they’re charming enough, smart enough, or just well-connected enough to dodge the cops. I guess. ☕

It feels like people just want to trash anything that isn't a product of pure intelligence—though, I guess we still don't even have a real definition for what that actually means. ☕It’s more like eating, I guess. It might happen, but who knows. 😍

Look, I finished both high school and college—which people love to call "nerdy"—so I definitely know the difference between a total geek (some idiot who just memorizes things to pass a test and forgets it instantly) and a genuine intellectual who actually enjoys learning stuff.
Bryan Jackson98 said:You really have to live through it to grasp the dynamic. People who went to prep school tend to view them as nothing more than straight-A nerds, instantly placing them a notch lower on the social ladder.

Exactly.
But calling someone a nerd is an insult—it’s not some badge of honor people wear, and nobody is actually looking up to them or acting superior because of it.🤷
High schools are just one piece of the puzzle.
It’s really about those deep-seated biases people have toward formal education—you know, that whole thing where everyone assumes "educated" people automatically possess superior intellect or higher moral ground.

Ashley Brown81 said:Just wait a few more days—diet could totally be messing with things. Otherwise, you can try Vitamin C or some heavy parsley tea to speed up your period, even using parsley topically... maybe some fennel tea..

That’s weird. 😁
Since fennel tea is actually supposed to help *stop* bleeding.🤷
Jacob Mitchell3 said:Why do you assume they act out of good intentions, and why do you believe they actually care about your mother? In reality, your friends are largely indifferent; they merely perform empathy because that is the social contract of friendship. They feel obligated to act as if they care. Most people are fundamentally indifferent to the struggles of others. When they say, "it’ll be okay," they aren't offering comfort—they are attempting to clear their own schedule. Your problems become an inconvenience to them, a distraction from their own lives. People rarely have the emotional bandwidth or the spare time to shoulder someone else's weight when they are busy managing their own. They offer platitudes not to bolster your happiness, but to stabilize their own environment. If your mood shifts, it affects them, so they attempt to fix you just to return things to a comfortable status quo.

I get that, but there’s another crowd out there. You hear that same nonsense from the people closest to you. Some folks just can't handle the reality of losing someone, so they dive straight into denial—shrugging it off with a quick "it'll all work out." It's not even about you; they're just trying to convince themselves because the alternative is too much to swallow.

Plus, let's be real—most people can't even stomach the thought of death or serious illness. It creeps them out.
Mixing different medications in Health ·
Look, regarding what you asked—I highly doubt anyone’s gonna sit there and try to calculate your specific dosage for you. I mean, you surely realize that everyone's different, right? It’s all about how your own body reacts.

Just get a doctor to write you a proper prescription instead of doing this... what on earth are you thinking, popping that much Valium?

I really hope you're kidding me. 40 mg of Valium? ☕
Period talk: Questions and advice in Women's Health ·
So, how does ibuprofen actually work when it comes to period blood? I see people recommending it to lighten things up—and yeah, it definitely works for a lot of women—but doesn't it also thin out your blood at the same time?!
Drinking, relationships, and anxiety in Psychology & Therapy ·
I can't really answer that without knowing what you actually mean by alcoholism. Feeling pure disgust and fear? That doesn't sound exactly "normal" to me.🤷 You could choose not to drink, hate the idea of drinking, or just stick to people who don't touch the stuff... but this reaction seems a bit much.

Would you feel the same if he just had a drink every now and then? Where do you draw the line here? Is even a single glass of wine off the table?
Is this whole disgust/fear thing a blanket stance against alcohol itself, or is it specifically about him overdoing it?
Have you dealt with some messy situations with alcoholics in the past?
Red bumps on my legs? in Health ·
keratosis pilaris? 🤷 or just clean skin.

Sounds like that to me based on the description.
Look, I just grab mine at CVS. I go with the Lutein extra from Natural Resources.
That’s gotta be the stuff.🤷
Hard to say. I’d need to see you in person first.😁
I’m about 132 lbs at 5'6", and I usually rock a size 2 or 4—which, honestly, makes zero sense given what the scale says.
Kate Allen said:If it's clear and stretchy like egg whites, then you're probably just ovulating.
But if there's any actual color to it, then you're looking at an infection.
At least you'll know when you're ovulating.😍
How old are you?

Seriously?😲 Mine is always opaque during ovulation. Like, super thick—I can't call it "clear" at all. It's usually just white.🤷
Back again. 🤣
Can anyone make sense of these urine results? 🙂

So, I grabbed some blood work done right after finishing up a round of antibiotics (Zithromax), and my CRP is still elevated. It’s way lower than it was ten days ago when I first started the meds, but it's still hanging in there above normal. My ESR is actually totally fine, though—sitting at a 6. Just wondering, is it possible for the CRP to still be lagging behind even if the infection is mostly cleared? 🤷
Open tooth and fever in Dentistry & Oral Hygiene ·
So... switched up my meds and suddenly my tooth starts killing me in the middle of the night. Like, unbearable. I couldn't even touch it with my tongue, and even Tylenol did absolutely nothing. Ended up at the ER where they had to open it up, and by the next day, the pain was gone. Now it just feels weird sometimes.
The day after that, I hit a 100.4 fever. No swelling, no pain. But the lab results? They’re flagging a bacterial infection. Usually, when I deal with toothaches or swelling, 🙄 it looks totally different from this. 🤷
Unless the infection actually hit my bloodstream...
I've only been on the antibiotics for one day.
If anyone has any thoughts or has dealt with this, let me know! 🙂

BTW, one of the weirdest—and honestly, kind of rude—female names I've ever heard is "Mistake." It basically describes her arrival into the world...

To add to that...🤣 My grandma swears there was a girl in her small town once named Netribal! Like, she seriously wasn't supposed to be born.😲 🤷

Yeah.
I'd rather remember her from back in the day.😁
