Panic attack in Health ·
Karen Hall40 said:Ever since I was a kid, I had this chest pain... did like 100 EKGs, and nothing—doctors found absolutely nothing. Then, when I was 16, I ended up in the ER because the pain was so bad I couldn't even breathe... they gave me some little green pill and things settled down after two hours. Looking back, it was probably Normabel or something similar. During my pregnancy, my blood pressure spiked so I had to take Ormidol, and with the constant pain, I kept ending up back in the emergency room... Once I had the baby, everything calmed down. But then, just a few months ago... I woke up with this killer chest pain and couldn't breathe—just shallow gasps because anything deeper hurt too much. Back to the ER again... my husband had to drive me... They gave me Ormidol and Xanax together, pulse was at 115. Things settled after that, but then the panic attacks started hitting. Now I'm terrified to even go outside with my little one; I'm scared to do anything because I think my heart is going to give out. So, I went to the doctor... tests came back fine, then the psychiatrist... She didn't even listen to me for ten minutes before prescribing antidepressants. I haven't taken them, but whatever... I can't even leave the house because of the fear... it's terrifying. Sometimes I take a Normabel, but it doesn't even help. I've got an appointment with a psychiatrist on the 3rd, so I'll let you know how it goes... Sorry for venting, but I've become such a burden to my husband because he has to do all the shopping now👎and I feel terrible about it—I feel so guilty that I can't do basic stuff because of this damn, horrible fear.

Honestly, regardless of any pills acting as a quick fix, I think psychotherapy would help you the most. It sounds like you're constantly ending up in the ER, which suggests there's a recurring issue following you through life.🤷
What's the best David Fincher movie? in Movies ·
I've watched Seven so many times at this point—it’s basically burned into my brain.🤣 I just can't get that "first time" feeling out of it anymore.
Benjamin says it's a great movie, sure, but way too long and drags in parts.

Aside from Zodiac, nothing really hit home for me.🤷

So yeah, I'm still putting my money on Zodiac.😁

Sandra Mitchell90 said:My period is usually pretty standard—strong, lasts about six days, nothing crazy—but this month is a whole different beast.😲 Since I haven't been on the pills for like two or three days, I can't even think about tampons because the cramps are that bad—seriously. Thank God I’m calling out sick today, otherwise I would've absolutely lost it at the office.🙄I feel you—I’ve been going through it for two days now. I actually had to go out and grab those heavy-duty maxi pads because my thin ones just don't stand a chance. I ended up stuffing two of the big overnight ones in my underwear... honestly, I’m walking like a total duck right now. It’s constant—whether I'm walking or just lying around, I'm soaking through them in an hour. It's ridiculous.Think I'm going back on the pill.

Man, I just really wanna be a local. 😠

Man, I’ve been dodging the pill forever—but apparently, fate had other plans for me!🙄
I might actually miss my exam because of this period—seriously, what a joke.🙏 😢

Man, I really hope they're running late!🙂

What do you guys think—is the stress actually speeding her up or just throwing everything into delay mode?🙏
Look, I’m all for it in principle—as long as someone else is footing the bill!🙏
Addiction struggles in Health ·
I mean, I don't know... if you're counting psych meds as drugs, then yeah, I'm abusing those 😲. 😁

🤷

I used to pair them with a drink or two—but not anymore. 😳
I'm strictly sober now. 😍

Sarah Bennett58 said:Grab some tampons 🤷 and a pad just to be safe. I deal with the same heavy flow on day two—I basically just stuff myself with them and swap them out constantly, and honestly, no biggie.

+ Vitamin C is actually a game changer. Just pop a 500 or 1000 mg tablet once or twice a day, especially when you know you’ll be running around a lot, and it seriously cuts down the bleeding. (I survived a few summer music festivals just like that without any drama...)

One more thing—painkillers can actually make the bleeding worse; Advil and Motrin are a total disaster. Better to stick with Tylenol and/or maybe a muscle relaxant, like Buscopan.

I don't think you realize how much flooding we're talking about here.🙏 A tampon (+ a pad) used to get completely soaked on me in like 20 minutes.😲😲

I'm gonna try that Vitamin C thing. It would be freaking amazing if it actually works!😛

Too little too late for me right now, though. My period is already wrapping up!🤣🤣
rapidgull3 said:Either those people are clueless, or they’re living such comfortable lives that they have zero empathy for anyone else's struggles. Telling someone dealing with mental health issues that they're just being lazy or incompetent is incredibly tactless and shows a complete lack of compassion.

True, but you also get the other side—people who actually own up to their struggles but don't think coddling them or letting them wallow in self-pity is the way to actually get better.
It's a real thing, too—some folks dealing with this stuff, for whatever reason, really lean into the whole "woe is me" vibe.🙏 A lot of them aren't even looking for actual solutions; they just want someone to feel sorry for them and run errands. For those types, empathy isn't exactly the most effective form of help.
I used to get such bad nausea that I’d feel lightheaded the second I sat down in front of my monitor.🙄
And honestly? Even now, I still deal with the fallout from spending too much time at the computer every now and then.😁
Dealing with bad cramps? in Women's Health ·
Terry Fowler2 said:Hi everyone, my period started today and the cramps are absolutely unbearable. 😢 Does anyone know of any tablets that provide fast pain relief? I’ve already tried everything—heating pads and warm baths haven't helped at all. I think I saw someone mention effervescent tablets earlier... I don't have the energy to read through everything right now, so if anyone could just recommend what works best, I'd appreciate it. Thanks.

Out of everything I've tried—Ketoral is hands down the strongest.😛
And it’ll probably take like 20 minutes before it even kicks in...🤷
Chloe Martin65 said:My favorite doctor diagnosis? "It's all in your head." They use it when they have zero clue what's actually wrong or—let's be real—they just don't want to deal with the paperwork of referring you to a specialist. I know someone who actually had leukemia and passed away thinking they were just dealing with anxiety... But hey, doctors love that excuse because they don't have to take responsibility, and nobody ever steps up to call them out on it. I've wasted my own money over the last two years, probably at least $35,000 total, because doctors kept brushing me off as a hypochondriac instead of sending me for actual testing. Well, I'm going back to face them.I'm dying to see what they come up with this time...

Oh yeah, they'll definitely die of embarrassment...☕

Seriously though, there are endless examples of this. It’s clearly better to just go get your own tests done without their "guidance." It feels like they just slap on whatever the most common diagnosis is based on your symptoms. God forbid they think it might be something rare, right?🙄

And get this: I had two different eye doctors give me two totally different prescriptions, and the second one was way lower!🙏 😂😂 Apparently, you can just "shrink" your vision!😕
To be fair, the second prescription was the right one—turns out that's why my head was killing me from wearing contacts for a year.🙄

So what do you expect? If they can't even get a basic eye exam right...
🤣🤣🤣
damn, you totally made my day! 🙏🙏

mistycrane19 said:It’s pathetic how little you grasp the reality here. Alcoholism is practically the national pastime in America, and we are dealing with a massive crisis because of it.

It’s a grim reality. In almost every other household, women are either enduring psychological abuse or, on top of that, taking a hit behind the ear because of an alcoholic partner.

Just leave. Honestly.

Don't even try to change the subject.😉
Gotta say, this whole "widespread alcoholism and violence" thing feels a bit like science fiction to me. I never saw any of that in my family—not even close.🤷

Look, his prevalence doesn't even matter here. Even if 99% of alcoholics and violent types were in America, that wouldn't make their behavior any less inexcusable. So, honestly—I have no idea what you're actually trying to get at.🤷

Your real issue is that you clearly can't—and maybe never will—emotionally detach enough from your parents to see the big picture. They’ve still got you in their grip, messing with your head just like they have been all these damn years. But hey, enjoy it.👍 Just don't go around giving anyone else that same advice.

If you end up stranded without a dime and lose your daughter, you think you don't deserve help from her?

HELL NO. If I hit rock bottom and can't even afford baby formula or clothes, I’d be a total failure of a parent—I should basically have my kids taken away and handed over to someone actually capable.☕

It’s honestly pathetic that anyone even has to explain this.☕

Give me a break, that’s some seriously toxic logic right there.☕
Thank God the author clearly has a better handle on things than you do.

I don't know how old the brothers are, but regardless—get them on the right track, help them get on their own two feet ASAP, and then they can just cut ties with those manic parents and let them wallow in their own dysfunction. Good luck!🙂

Raymond Fisher2 said:Why wouldn't they have already done that? And why on earth do you think swallowing a handful of pills every morning is actually doing anything for them?

Is this person just popping a handful of pills every day on their own whim?🤷
Because I have no clue who exactly they're blaming for this whole "handful of pills" thing...😲

Go ahead and shower, seriously --just maybe skip the bathtub-- and wash your hair; you aren't going to die. As for those ultra-sensitive types and their endless overthinking? I've got just the emoji for that. 🤮

If you had gone through what I did, you wouldn't be recommending this to anyone. Unless we're talking about a super quick rinse.🤷 Because for me, a long, hot shower ended up putting me on strict bed rest for an entire week until my bleeding—which was intense, by the way—finally leveled out.
I know two other women who dealt with the exact same thing, so just because it didn't happen to you doesn't mean it isn't a real issue for some people.
Please, if there's a good soul out there who knows—where in Los Angeles could I track down a Snoopy plushie?🙂

So, you think you're talking about yourself?🤷

Honestly, I don't think this message board is the right place for this—you should probably be looking for a therapist's office instead.😛

Our local hospitals in Health ·
dustygardener25 said:Look, there’s zero budget for fancy IV fluids or gourmet cafeterias in public hospitals. If you want those kinds of luxuries, you need cash—which is exactly what your political crowd voted for in this capitalist system. Next time you’re sitting in the waiting room, bring a book. Actually, grab some spiritual stuff—Eastern philosophy or whatever—so you can learn some patience and face reality. And if you see rats in the local fast food joints, call the health inspector. There’s also a formal complaint form at the hospital where you can vent about the lack of premium IV drips or whatever else you're whining about. Either deal with it or just stay on mute and stop stressing over things that aren't happening.

Honestly, nobody would even be asking for "premium" treatment (not that that's even the point here🙏) if the conditions in these hospitals weren't such a mess. Yeah, I get it—public hospitals are broke. But does being underfunded give the staff an excuse to act like they don't care about their profession?🤷
