Beer and health: What's the verdict? in Health ·
Walter Hernandez3 said:It’s true, it really is... if you take a single liter of your standard domestic beer and look at the caloric load, it ends up being almost identical to the energy density you'd find in a liter of whole milk... which is a bit of a trip when you actually sit down and crunch those numbers...

Just imagine if someone were to sit around all day, doing absolutely nothing at all, yet somehow manages to guzzle down two liters of milk every single day... honestly, they’d be packing on a massive gut before they even realized what was happening... very, very quickly...

So, if you’re actually serious about maintaining that perfect physique of yours—and I’ve seen the photos, so don't try to deny it...—then you need to realize that it isn't just about luck or some magic pill... 😍 I suppose there's no harm in being cautious, though I find myself wondering if we aren't all just overthinking things lately... one shouldn't really go overboard with it, you know... 🙂

😉

Well, yeah... I guess what I was trying to get at is that it isn't really "beer" specifically causing the issue, it's just the calories—and those come from the alcohol content:
beer: 48 kcal/100g
whole milk: 67 kcal/100g
whiskey: 250 kcal/100g😲
orange juice: 49 kcal/100g
wine: 77 kcal/100g
..so it's not actually that bad... I mean, if you look at it that way, beer doesn't make you fat... then pretty much anything you eat would!

Maybe I’m losing my mind here, but I honestly don't think beer belly has anything to do with the beer itself. There isn't any fat or cholesterol in beer, and it actually has fewer calories than most fruit juices. Just keep drinking...👍

I'm in the same boat. Every couple of months, I'll deal with a low-grade fever around 99.4 for about a month at a time... if your lab results are coming back normal, I’d say just try to ignore it.😉

Henry Moore2 said:So, I don't get it... how was I constantly dealing with those ovarian inflammations back then when I used to walk around barefoot? And honestly, I didn't even have any sexual experience at the time.

Who actually told you that walking barefoot causes ovarian issues?
It’s likely just a bacterial issue—basically, bacteria from the vaginal area migrating where they shouldn't be. It really doesn't have anything to do with whether you're sexually active or not.

Nicholas Chavez70 said:We really can't take Hamdi seriously; he phrased things poorly, but at the core, you have a man with virtually no formal education who deeply understands the philosophy of Tesla—the idea of improving life for every single person on Earth, regardless of their social class, skin color, or faith—and honestly, that carries a lot of weight.

This is just another failed experiment from Tesla, nothing more than fertile ground for various fanatics and conspiracy theorists to dig into, and frankly, it has absolutely nothing to do with what you’ve been discussing until now.

The man was actually on a dangerously productive path toward realizing his vision, and it is perfectly natural that certain forces moved to stop him. We are left with the remnants of an old guard—minds that still cling to the delusion that fossil fuels and nuclear energy are the ultimate mothers of progress...

🤣 🤣 🤣 ..I'm going to die if I have to read any more of this.

I won't even get started on how Hamid used to ramble about catching lightning in a box, claiming we'd have enough electricity to power the entire planet if we just pulled it off. )

It wasn't Hamid who said that, it was actually Nikola Tesla—the idea of providing free energy to the whole world isn't some impossible fantasy, it’s just completely unprofitable for the big energy conglomerates...

That was Hamid the millionaire saying that... honestly, I don't think he even knows what electricity actually is.
He was talking about catching a single bolt of lightning in a box and having enough power for the entire planet.
Here is the actual story regarding Tesla:
Even today, we can't replicate Tesla's artificial lightning bolts, which reached lengths of about fifty meters. During one experiment involving controlled wireless power transmission, Tesla directed all the energy from several transformers into the Earth. He actually stepped out of his laboratory wearing rubber (insulated) soles about eight centimeters thick just to watch the results. Once his assistant turned the equipment on, lightning started sparking everywhere—first one meter long, then five, then fifteen, then thirty meters. A thunderous roar began to build, growing so loud it could be heard all the way in Colorado Springs, about twenty-five miles away.
When the lightning bolts suddenly surged to fifty meters, the power in Tesla's laboratory cut out instantly, leaving behind an eerie silence.
Angry, he called the main station to demand why they had cut his power during the experiment, only to be told that he had caused a massive system failure at the plant and that Colorado Springs went dark as the local power station's failed because of him.

Basically, Tesla was trying to transmit electricity wirelessly through the ionosphere so the entire world could access it.
So, yeah: catching lightning in a box just isn't happening.

There’s honestly so much more I could go on about... hmm... like people claiming they drink alcohol "for their stomach" or "for their blood"... as if you need to chug stuff just to stay strong and healthy. Or all that talk about taking endless vitamins... ah

Oh man, I have to bring this up... do you guys remember when Daniel was on Big Brother and kept preaching about how he wouldn't go out in the winter without a hat just so he wouldn't catch meningitis? And he actually ended up winning a million bucks...🙏 🙏🙏 ...
(And don't even get me started on how Hamid talked about catching lightning in a box to provide enough electricity for the entire world🙏 🙏 🙏 )
Sorry for the off-topic rant... I just had to say it.

mellowraven32 said:Cold itself doesn't make you sick, but sudden shifts in body and ambient temperature act as a stressor on the system. That stress weakens your immune response, making you more vulnerable to getting hit by something else...

And there you have it—an answer to all that nonsense. I’d even go a step further and mention that being out in the cold isn't nearly as bad as the impact emotional stress has on our immune systems. Honestly, people, let's just dance in the rain!😁

Thomas Collins60 said:It’s kind of like trying to sleep with soaking wet hair—you're basically asking for a massive headache
I know it’s not quite that extreme, but people say you can definitely end up with a pounding migraine
And what if you head out with wet hair when it's only 40 degrees outside? Hmm, now we're talking

Brain engaged.Technically, encephalitis just means brain inflammation, regardless of what actually triggers it. But in most conversations, when people bring up encephalitis, they’re usually talking about viral cases, since viruses are the most common culprit behind it.
There are several things that could potentially cause this. It might stem from the herpes simplex virus, Lyme disease carried by ticks, rabies, or even childhood illnesses like mumps, measles, chickenpox, or mono. It’s also possible that it's triggered by a bacterial infection, such as bacterial meningitis, or could be a complication arising from other issues like syphilis.

It’s not quite that simple, but apparently, you can end up with a massive headache from it.
So, what happens if you walk outside with wet hair when it's only 41 degrees out? Hmm...

There are a million different reasons why you might end up with a headache.

coppergardener said:Well, truth be told—if I’m walking completely barefoot for hours on end—you know, like spending the whole day pacing across those cold tile floors—my ovaries tend to get just a little bit inflamed.

No... noooooooooooooooo😠
Man, that really bugs me🙂
Oophoritis (inflammation of the ovaries) is actually a type of pelvic inflammatory disease. It happens when microorganisms travel upward from the lower female reproductive tract. So, my advice is: go ahead and walk barefoot, but please, use condoms.😁
I honestly haven't been sleeping much during my last month of classes while I was trying to fix some credits. Usually, by the second day, everything just feels ridiculous—my hearing gets muffled, my vision goes a bit blurry, my blood pressure spikes, and things like that.
Normally, I’m the type who loves sleep; I need about nine hours to actually feel rested, but I always feel a little guilty spending that much time in bed doing nothing. It’s such a shame, really—there just aren't enough hours in the day to get everything done.
Just recently, over a five-day stretch, my sleep schedule was basically non-existent: on the first, second, and third nights, I only got about three hours, and on the fourth night... well, I didn't sleep at all. I can even say I started having some mild visual and auditory hallucinations. (And I won't even get into how exhausted my eyes looked.)

My circulation is just terrible. My feet end up looking gray, almost like a corpse.😲 ...plus I'm constantly freezing; I honestly hate winter.😠
btw: how long does it take you before you can actually handle jumping into the freezing Mississippi?

Just wanted to vent for a second... I still have this pretty large chunk of graphite stuck under the skin of my right index finger. You can actually see it through the skin, and it’s honestly such a pain when I'm trying to type. To make matters worse, I ended up poking myself right next to it today, leaving another tiny little sliver of graphite wedged in there.😳

(Side note: I also managed to shatter a Pyrex dish earlier, and a shard of glass sliced right into my big toe—it almost took a chunk out of the side. I really didn't want to lose any part of my toe, so I just threw a Band-Aid on it and hoped for the best. It's healing somewhat, but man, it hurts, and it looks like I've got a nasty bruise forming underneath.)

Grace Fisher31 said:So, how exactly does it feel for you? 😲 For me, it’s this intense sensation, almost like someone is physically tightening a grip around my throat.

👍 ....I feel the exact same way....and I honestly can't find any logical connection to what's happening.😕 For me, just ignoring it is the only thing that helps...actually, lately, it hasn't even been much of an issue anymore.
Even though my thyroid tests came back perfectly clear and I have this tiny little stone in my salivary gland that acts up whenever I eat something sour or even just look at delicious food...🤣 I used to think the two were connected, but they aren't...that would be too easy. It's all just playing tricks on the mind.👎
Besides, asthma is essentially a psychological condition too, isn't it?😲 Let's just hope it doesn't escalate into that for us.👎

Me too,😎 ...I’ve got a completely clear thyroid, but that’s not really the issue here... basically, we just went through a total meltdown.😁 ...Honestly, sometimes ignoring it is the best medicine.
PTSD from that car accident... though you might think it wasn't even that big of a deal
