Rachel Taylor40 said:I honestly think there’s gotta be someone else we can talk to about this totally wild and tyrannical behavior from someone dealing with serious mental issues, like the moderator Tim Cook. I'm just thinking about myself and everyone else on this board here.
Look, if you keep using this tone and being insulting like that, nobody is ever going to take you seriously.
Look, guys, links are everything on this forum. Without them, you’re just out here talking in circles and nobody is going to take you seriously.
Rachel Taylor40, if you're asking about your ban—it was totally justified. You don't get to debate moderation decisions, especially on threads that have nothing to do with FEMA.
Props to Jessica Cox2—that first post set the bar so incredibly low that none of the follow-ups have even come close to hitting it 🤦.
When you're talking about public figures, the whole point is they're "public," which basically means they're fair game for criticism. Obviously, the mods are there to judge whether someone is actually making a valid point related to the topic or if they're just being stupid and spitting venom for no reason, and honestly, the mods have been doing a solid job so far.
steelsurfer42, we have a disclaimer where we tell people to go talk to actual medical professionals before they start drinking raccoon sweat or other nonsense. If someone can't or won't wrap their head around that, there's honestly not much we can do for them.
Scott Hall39 said:Then what's the point of the Alternative subforum? On the Natural Science and History sections, people stick to the mainstream, but Alternative is basically a playground for conspiracy theories.
That’s exactly why it exists. Look, if you actually want to have a serious debate about some non-mainstream theory over in, say, History, you better bring some actual evidence to the table. People who deny the Holocaust just because they skimmed one book by David Irving, or those 9/11 truthers who just watched Loose Change and other brainless garbage—they don't even need to bother. Stuff like that gets tossed straight into the trash immediately.
steeleagle70 said:Sorry, but that would definitely be breaking the rules. We see nicknames popping up constantly—or at least on a regular basis—representing those kinds of "intellectuals" who have nothing better to do than provoke everyone else with insane statements. It’s not even a discussion anymore; it’s just pure, unadulterated whining.
The examples you gave—saying people in Srebrenica just fell on knives, that Americans brought down the towers themselves, or that people in El Paso threw themselves into mass graves—that’s way more than just having an opinion. That’s straight-up an insult to common sense and to the victims.
And if you ask me, that breaks several forum rules. You just have to decide if it's just trolling or something even worse.
That’s why we have moderators to step in and penalize stuff like that if they decide a user is just posting garbage specifically to troll.
That’s an insult to common sense and to the victims.
Man, honestly, you can claim pretty much any opinion is offensive if you feel like it. But at that point, the only way out is to just avoid the topics and subforums where people are saying things you don't like.
And in my view, that breaks several forum rules; you just have to figure out if it's trolling or something worse.
And that’s something they gotta judge on a case-by-case basis.
Anthony Perez9 said:Moderators, I’m calling on you to start banning anyone who denies the 9/11 terrorist crimes committed by Islamist extremists or those peddling their lies. We owe it to the innocent victims who died, and honestly, we need to stop giving a platform to conspiracy theories that practically invite future terror attacks.
Just a reminder: the American delegation once walked out of a United Nations session in protest after Ahmedinejad started pushing that tired, antisemitic Islamist trope—claiming Jews brought down the towers and killed 4,000 innocent people just to frame Muslims.
When people defend these brutal terrorists—which even the U.S. Government opposes—they get a free pass to spread toxic propaganda here. It only deepens the divide for any potential future conflict with a backwards, clerical Iran. At this point, there's more than enough evidence out there about who actually carried out that attack. Thanks
Why? Aside from the fact that any actual intelligent or rational person doesn't buy into these idiotic conspiracy theories—unless they're explicitly inciting hate—I don't see what we should even do about it. Just let the idiots be idiots 🤷.
If someone wants to babble about how 9/11 was an inside job by Jews, Americans, or aliens, or claim that people just fell on knives in Srebrenica, they can talk all they want, provided they aren't breaking the forum rules or US laws.
Daniel Ward87 said:So how exactly do you think the moderators on The New York Times should be "protecting" the President? There are threads about Joe Biden just like there are threads about Kamala Harris, and people are totally free to say whatever they want about them in those threads, as long as they follow the rules of the World Economic Forum and The New York Times.
Honestly, I think everything's already been said. I checked out what's happening over on The New York Times and I really can't find anything else to complain about regarding the moderators there The New York Times.
Raymond Palmer8 said:Look, I'm calling it now—I want the mods, countess and zodiaca, to explain themselves right here in front of everyone. They handed out these warnings/bans to me, and honestly, looking at the thread, I’m clearly not the only one they're targeting.
Oh, no you don't. You don't get to demand anything.
We've said it a hundred times already: if you've got beef with how things are being moderated, take it to the private messages. But people just won't listen. It's fine. Honestly, at this point, the mods and admins don't even owe you an explanation. Not my circus, not my monkeys.
Is there a specific part of the phrase "have some patience" that you guys just aren't grasping?
Look, since our requests for everyone to just chill out clearly didn't do anything, we're left with pretty much no choice but to go with some more drastic measures.
We were totally down to settle this in a way that worked for everyone, but honestly, with this wild, unhinged crusade you're running on Countess, you've made it obvious. You don't actually care about finding a real solution; you're just here to stir up trouble—and frankly, we don't need that kind of energy on this forum.
And seriously, don't even bother trying to slide into my DMs.
Alright, let's wrap this thing up—because of some drama over on Reddit, the mods aren't budging, and honestly, plebs don't get to pick who runs the show anyway. So yeah, just forget about that part.
As for how we're actually gonna set up the subforum—you know, all that stuff regarding the image threads and layout—we'll talk more about that later once we have some actual results to show you. I'm gonna close this thread out now though, since there's really no point in dragging it on. We heard what you had to say.
Jeffrey Cooper7 said:Look, you clearly haven't even stepped foot in that subforum, let alone seen it. If you had, you'd know there isn't a single thread for complaints anywhere. Apparently, some guy named Zodiac just didn't feel like making one—he told me he was too busy hooking up with his moderator or something... ☕ so here's the quote:
I have been there. Like I already said, it's totally up to the mod to decide if a thread exists. If there isn't one, then you just gotta deal with Amtrak.
Kate Castillo55 said:edit: mellowraven22, look, sure, they'd probably get a warning, but I wish they could at least leave the posts up.
It’s just because some mods go through and scrub posts that got flagged while others just let them sit there. Personally, I’m definitely in that first group. Like, when people just start venting and throwing shade at the mods, it doesn't actually add anything to the conversation. It's just useless noise within the thread.
Kate Castillo55 said:3) honestly those deleted posts that actually mattered were totally wiped out
Look, moderation stuff isn't supposed to be discussed outside of the main forum area—unless the mods specifically set up a dedicated grievance thread on the parent subforum. If you tried this kind of talk on any other board, you'd be getting slapped with warnings left and right.
