So, what is this place for? in Psychology & Therapy ·
Psychology topics haven't really fit in here until now.
For instance, when someone finally snaps and starts a thread about their personal struggles, maybe it doesn't strictly belong in a psychology sub, so those kinds of discussions are allowed here? Is my assumption correct?

... I think I've finally realized that too, @Ptico...

Come on, casualharbor9, spill it... How was it for you?

... oh, stoooop it... 😊 :zajapur:

Until some saintly soul finally deigns to explain what this place is actually for, maybe we can all just migrate over to that new sofa and start swapping stories about our first times...

... god, I'd rather not go there :red-face: ...

... I guess we'll find out soon enough... in the meantime, please: let's keep the trolling to a minimum 🙂

... just kidding, obviously... 😂

... hmmmm, interesting; just me and the great outdoors 😍... feels a bit like a corner for the banned, only with emojis and without all the preaching... am I allowed to pull something like this here?
... wow, just wow 😂

Quincy:
Those were never actually suicide attempts. I just wanted to move on to a better plane of existence because, based on my metaphysical outlook, death isn't some final curtain call. I don't believe in it...
... you know, there is a tiny, infinitesimal chance that it actually *is* the end... what then?

Anyway, are all people on "alternative" paths like this?

I'm the guy from that post...
... no, it isn't him—it's me! I'm the guy from the post.!

... well... I suppose I have to agree with everything now, except maybe regarding the specific percentages. I haven't been keeping a spreadsheet of the data, but the sheer level of subjectivity and blatant favoritism has always rubbed me the wrong way—it’s practically screaming at you from some of those PDFs. And while it's true that they occasionally penalize things that are completely trivial (admittedly, that's rare)... it's understandable, isn't it? At the end of the day, we're all just human being after human being... 🙂

hollowtrucker77 said:If you ever decide to start writing like that, I’d ban you before you could even finish your sentence.

So, let me get this straight: a moderator would just slap a ban on me—completely ignoring the actual rulebook—just based on their own "gut feeling" or personal perception? Meanwhile, someone else pulls the exact same stunt and walks away scot-free? If that’s how things work, then those rules aren't exactly "perfectly defined," are they?

Look, people seriously need to wrap their heads around this: life isn't about constantly looking for loopholes or finding clever ways to sidestep the rules. That’s not the point. Rules actually exist for a reason. They serve as a framework to make communication easier and to ensure that the actual substance of what's being said doesn't get lost in the noise. It's about making sure the core message stands out, rather than just obsessing over how the words were formatted.

... I agree... So, if we're all on the same page, what exactly is the massive issue with just using standard capital letters?

My point is this: certain moderators cling to the rulebook like a drunk holding onto a lamppost—mostly just when it suits them. They use these arbitrary rules to play favorites, effectively silencing anyone they don't like while letting their hand-picked favorites run wild. It turns entire subreddits into echo chambers shaped by subjective whims and personal biases rather than any actual set of defined standards. And then, just when someone dares to complain about it on this board, they get shut down with some pedantic "it’s all according to the rules" nonsense. Typical, isn't it?
Hand on heart, let’s be real: even some of the moderators around here don't exactly have a way with words. Sometimes they just completely miss the mark when they try to communicate, leaving everyone else totally in the dark.

So, here’s my bottom-line take on Reddit...

The other side of the coin would be if we actually had rules on Reddit that made being stupid or annoying a bannable offense.
😉

Look, the first thing mentioned here—which isn't exactly a sin in and of itself—is impossible to prohibit. But that second part? Well, if someone actually felt like being proactive about it, they could certainly step in and ban that too.

... sure, that works, but: look, just without all the capital letters! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

... and everything follows the rules perfectly... isn't that actually more annoying? 🤷

(why can't I pick my own text colors here?)(I mean, I've never really tried it anywhere else...) (though a loud, obnoxious red at size 7 would look pretty great)

... I find this whole "shouting" rule pretty nonsensical; what exactly does it mean to shout in a written text? All I can really do is emphasize certain sentences through bolding, enlarging them, SHOUTING—you know, using all caps—or maybe changing the color... is there anything else? At the end of the day, the meaning of a text is whatever the reader interprets it to be. If you want to convey the phonetic tone of a spoken voice, isn't that what exclamation points are for? Isn't that the point?!!
... because I happen to be on the tenth floor, living right in the heart of this beautiful country's capital...

... but tell me, does this capital actually have a subway system, an industrial district, or an airport?

It’s unlikely any actual geologist stumbled upon this thread; instead, we just have people popping up who think they’ve cracked the code.

... maybe an architect or a civil engineer would be the right person to ask for a real answer... how old is the building you're in, how tall is it, and what kind of seismic protection does it have? (Some modern skyscrapers use very specific dampening systems, after all)
... anyway, those vibrations—if my senses aren't deceiving me—might have much more local causes... just a guess. 🤷

I can't explain it, but I know things are happening with the Earth. It's going through a final cycle, since I have some faith in the Mayan prophecy—specifically in the knowledge they possessed.

... you might want to avoid mentioning that on the subforums where everything is neatly labeled, sterilized, and tucked away in drawers, while the commenters look down from their Olympian heights, contemptuously spitting on anyone who hasn't reached their level of "evolution." 😍

I wonder if this is all connected now. These vibrations really get on my nerves, and at the same time, I'm terrified of what's coming. Lately, there's been constant flooding, earthquakes, hurricanes, water contamination, GMO foods... human greed has just spiraled out of control.

... oh, don't worry about it; the world keeps spinning just like it always has. There's nothing new under the sun... 😉

... honestly, is there any country more beautiful than Canada? 🙂
How do I delete my profile? in Forum Help! ·
So, you've essentially got four ways to play this.
Just don't write.
Why not just go ahead and build your own forum? You can write whatever you want and delete it whenever you feel like it. After all, you’d be the ones running the show.
Go ahead and speak your mind, but just remember: there’s no delete button here. Once it's out there, it stays.
Learn how to hack, then go after the forum's database. Just leave my posts alone.

I’d be willing to throw in a fifth one just for kicks.
Can we please stop following each other from thread to thread like a pack of hungry dogs? Seriously. 😁

Well, why don't you just head over to the Women's Corner then? I'm pretty sure you'll be more than welcome there.

I would handle all the bans, keep an eye on the trolls, wait out the spammers, and patiently endure everything (🤣)—the trolls, the spammers, and the chaos—across all the subforums, sub-subforums, and posts.

Paul Myers4 said:You've clearly forgotten how this works. First, you'll start deleting everything *I* don't like, and then eventually you'll move on to the stuff *you* don't like.😉 Then immediately, I'll be right there to call you out, saying, "Hey, this is heterophobia, this is discrimination against Black people, this is hate speech!"... yeah, that's the kind of stuff I'll throw at you to start with. I can't even wrap my head around all the ways I'd take you down right now...

It's pretty obvious someone (most likely Scott, if you ask me) shut this thread down without any actual reasoning, even though I was just politely venting about the discrimination heterosexuals face. I'm going to grab coffee with Zeljko tomorrow morning to discuss this further... goodbye.

... fine, deal! 👍

Paul Myers4 said:It makes you think all the admins on certain sub-forums are just biased—or even this Jean guy, whose bias basically dictates the whole vibe here...😉The issue isn't even just about being biased, really; it's more about how they discriminate against anything that doesn't fit their specific mold.

I’ll probably run for an admin position once I've put together a few more posts—it's just that some of these admins get so incredibly jealous that they end up deleting my posts and threads, even when they actually have a lot of potential...

... so where are you now, oh wise counselor?
Man, when you finally land that admin spot, go ahead and promote me to mod... I'll only delete the people I don't like, I swear!
