Can I use a Giant Yukon for road cycling? in Cycling ·
You can actually fit a 29er wheel into a good chunk of 26" MTB frames if you run a narrower tire.

... I suppose I agree...
... maybe his reverendness just hasn't realized yet that his little sermonizing monologues—and let’s call them what they really are: performances—can be met with nothing but polite silence from a church congregation, regardless of whether the pews are full or nearly empty. On an online forum, however, people actually expect a discussion. They don't just sit there nodding in awe at his supposed intellectual prowess, his "flawless" logic, his endless verbosity, or his masterful selection of emojis.

*Reverend might be a fitting collective title for all those clones he operates under to write...

You guys remember that old saying: "Don't do the crime if you can't do the time"?

... or to put it more simply: anything goes—until you actually get caught?

What if I just set up one user profile on my home PC and a different one for when I'm at work or down at the local library? How on earth are you going to prove I’m not just having a conversation with myself, especially since I'd be logging in from the exact same physical location?

I hear that in more developed countries, there are actual designated spots where cyclists can just change clothes and grab a quick shower... meanwhile, we’re stuck improvising, trying to make do in office breakrooms, boiler rooms, or random storage closets. 👎

My current routine involves a quick scrub (with something heavy-duty antibacterial, obviously) and getting fueled up before the ride, then I just find some side room to change and hang my work clothes to dry—the ones I arrived in, anyway, back when I was actually working (well, hopefully, I'll be back at it again soon)...

I don't have a photo handy, but here’s the DIY manual:
take an empty yogurt cup and cut a strip out of the side, about 1.5cm wide. then, using a clothespin, attach that strip to the chainstay—you know, the tube running from the crankset toward the rear axle—so the strip sits right against the spokes. once you start moving, those spokes will rattle against the strip, and honestly, the sheer joy is unmatched. 👋

... yeah, that's the one 😁 ... and imagine if you string a few strips together! You've got yourself a four-stroke engine hitting 12,000 RPM! 👋

@brightranger43: please, child's play. 😬

I’ll just cut out a yogurt cup and hang it from the frame with a paperclip, just to make sure it makes some noise...
The ethics of suicide: Thoughts and discussions in Psychology ·
Sure, any self-aware individual has the right to choose their own path, but they also need to be fully aware of the long-term implications of that choice. You solve your life's struggles, fine—but then what? Someone in that headspace is usually just fixated on finding a resolution, completely ignoring the fallout. They don't stop to consider whether they might actually regret choosing death later on, once their current problems start looking trivial by comparison... (and honestly, I suspect most people experience that regret at the exact moment it’s too late to turn back, when the sheer terror and agony of the end sets in).
Personally, I don't buy into anything regarding an afterlife or reincarnation, which is why I believe that life—no matter whose it may be or how difficult—is worth every bit of effort. We spent an eternity being dead, and we’ll spend an eternity being dead again; this brief stretch of being alive is all we actually get.

And how much weight should we give to public (or even forum-based) suicide threats? I suspect the vast majority of people wouldn't actually go through with it, even when they seem serious. But isn't it just like those fake bomb threats called into airports or malls? You have to treat them as legitimate, because the worst-case scenario is simply unacceptable...

... Look, if the commute is just too damn long, you can always break it up: drive out to the edge of the city suburbs, grab your bike from the roof rack or pull it from the backseat, fold the wheels, and finish the trek through downtown on two wheels instead of four...

From what I can gather, the points system is already up and running—even if they’re just temporary markers or negative scores. Honestly, considering how easy it is to stay anonymous or just spin up a dozen different clones, isn't the whole thing basically pointless?

When you're stuck on command duty just staring at the clock, having a radio or an MP3 player is honestly a lifesaver. It’s the perfect way to kill the boredom—you can dive into music, actually enjoy some good tunes, and maybe even pick up something new along the way while you pass the time...

62 miles over bad roads or embankments, at least five times a week, all year round?
It’s doable, provided you have the logistics sorted and the living conditions aren't a total mess. I mean, if the job itself isn't physically draining, and you actually have the setup for decent rest, regular meals, and appropriate gear—you know, once it warms up, and definitely sunglasses to deal with the bugs—then it works. But you have to factor in the weather shifts. We're talking rain, snow, heavy winds, or those nasty thunderstorms with lightning and thunder that can make riding pretty miserable. Still, once a person adapts, the ride stops being a torture session and starts becoming something enjoyable. I’d just suggest starting slow, and certainly not in the middle of a blizzard...

... and she's a woman doing this... major respect!

... @Dana Reyes5, all five, but let's be honest, what fat molecule hasn't killed someone yet...

but she won't actually let go of either.

... those are just poetic, literary interpretations—technically valid from one specific angle, I suppose. I was attempting to offer a practical, psychological breakdown of what’s happening with us, stepping outside the usual moral and societal constraints. My goal was to find something that resonates with all of us, rather than fueling more self-destructive conflicts. I honestly believe I'm right here; it's simply the path of least resistance in life. There isn't really a "right" or "wrong" in this context...

@ironraven13... come on now... take another look at what I wrote earlier before you jump to conclusions...

Dear @ironraven13... 🙂

... you aren't "disgusting," so please stop selling yourself short.
What you're feeling is actually just a collision between biological drive and the societal urge to settle down with one partner to ensure stable offspring—which, if you ask me, is the whole point of falling in love. Both impulses serve a specific evolutionary purpose.

Then, we layer on these ethical frameworks shaped by upbringing—rules built on social conditioning rather than actual self-awareness or understanding how humans truly interact. This is why people end up trapped in these internal tug-of-wars, paradoxes, and friction with those around them, trying (more or less successfully) to navigate it all. People meet, they break up, they have kids, they lose kids, they celebrate, they suffer, they lash out, they spiral... it’s the human condition. So, regarding these urges...

Of course your partner is going to feel wounded by your "infidelity"—just as you would be by his. Every instinct pushes an individual to pass on their own genes, and the idea of a partner being with someone else facilitates the transfer of outside DNA. That’s essentially the raw biological explanation for the emotions involved, otherwise known as jealousy.

Your guy managed to rise above it, which is a great sign for him. And for you, having these dilemmas is actually a positive thing; even better, you have a partner you're deeply bonded to, just as she is to you. Some people spend their entire lives as emotional invalids, pretending to adhere to some ideal of monogamy while lacking any real honesty toward themselves or anyone else.

... so, just keep this old saying in mind: to err is human, to forgive divine. .

... anyway, what are your plans for tonight? 😉?... 😬
