Die Hard franchise in Movies ·
Honestly... this is one of those rare franchises where almost every single movie hits the mark for me... there are only tiny differences in quality.
Alright then... gotta cast a vote haha😂..so I'm going with "Die Hard with a Vengeance"

Truthfully... that one's my favorite because it’s such an outlier, just super engaging and intense from the first Minute to the last... the order should be the first one, then the fourth, then the second...

Total trash movie.🙏🤣

Just remembered.🤷👍

That movie from the list above... the full title got cut off so I just wrote it like that.

Idle Hands, or basically just a total lazybones.

Thanks for all the love😍

Working on something pretty massive right now... give me a minute to get it ready because it’s gonna take some time...

BTW...I gotta be real with you guys...when it comes to the Monty Python fans...I'll admit I've never been a huge fan myself. Look...they had some decent sketches, but overall, they just weren't my thing...rarely actually made me laugh out loud🤷

Hmm... yeah, fair point... maybe I should've included it... my bad.
briskhound2 said:They wouldn't be wrong, because personally, Rock was the weakest link in the cast. That scene where he's "arguing" with Leo about the phone call... man, he gets eaten alive in seconds. Rock's performance feels like he's stuck on some comedy stage—respect to his stand-up career, but movie comedy is a different beast—and he’s just plain irritating, especially when he starts "shouting" to make a point.

Doesn't change much for me. If the actor was less annoying, sure... but if the character stays the same, then it's basically like Rock is still there.🤷

You already know the plot.🙂

Basically, the guy who played Chris Rock in that quartet would just swap out for Murtaugh's son...

briskhound2 said:Great poll. 👍 Honestly, most of the titles listed here totally miss the mark for me, but Hot Shots! and Loaded Weapon are absolute classics you can watch anytime. The Scene😂😂😂🤣

Maybe The Onion Movie could've made the cut too. Owen Wilson did a killer job parodying himself in that one.

Don't worry... it showed up.👍 The tenth movie from the bottom...😉

Yeah... that's definitely THE scene haha 😁

Michael Ortiz68 said:Anthony Smith3, killer list (and pretty thorough too). Every single 👍

There's just so much... He went with Hot Shots!, Airplane!, The Naked Gun, Top Secret!, and Life of Brian. Honestly, I watched most of those when I was a kid, so I wonder if they'd actually hold up as funny now 🤷 but I bet they would...

Thanks... though I just realized I accidentally listed Epic Movie twice, oops.

I was thinking about adding Shrek since it parodies a ton of movies, both live-action and animated, but I decided against it... this list is getting long enough already.

Figured I'd give these polls a shot since everyone seems to be obsessed with them lately, haha...

So, for my first official poll, I decided to tackle a pretty thankless genre: parodies. Why am I calling it thankless? Well, by definition, they exist just to mock other movies or real events, which makes most cinephiles look down on them. It doesn't help that over the last few years, Hollywood has basically churned out a dozen cheap, rushed parodies designed solely to cash in on whatever blockbuster is trending. We've seen it all with titles like Meet the Spartans, Superhero Movie, and Dateline Movie.
Look, movie history has proven that when actual talent is behind the camera, parodies can be genuinely great. We’re talking about absolute classics like Hot Shots, The Naked Gun, Spaceballs, or Airplane!—movies people still binge-watch today just to get a good laugh.
Parody isn't some new thing; it's been around since movies first started. Take Stanlio and Olio back in 1922—they were already mocking big stars like Rudolph Valentino by spoofing Blood and Sand in their movie Mud and Sand. Then you’ve got Charlie Chaplin doing the same thing when he took aim at Hitler in The Great Dictator.
Back in the late 60s, Mel Brooks hit the scene, building a massive career on parodies that basically became instant cult classics, like Spaceballs, Young Frankenstein, and Blazing Saddles. Then you’ve got Monty Python, who mastered the art of parody through everything from quick sketches to full-blown movies; their stuff like Life of Brian and Monty Python and the Holy Grail is legendary even now. And let's not forget the trio of David Zucker, Jim Abrahams, and Jerry Zucker—those guys were responsible for some of the best hits out there, including Hot Shots, The Naked Gun, and Airplane!.
The Wayans brothers basically kicked off this whole new wave of parody when they dropped Scary Movie. It turned into one of those massive modern hits that spawned a huge trend, eventually racking up three sequels with a fourth one already in the works.

Can't forget Leslie Nielsen either. He’s basically the king of parody, which makes it almost impossible to take him seriously in anything else—like when he played that ship captain in The Poseidon Adventure.

Anyway... I won't drag this out. Here's the list. You guys pick—which one is actually the best parody?

P.S. If I missed any, just let me know...

briskhound2 said:The sequel... honestly, a total must-watch. Especially that scene where he turns into a human (he looks a bit like Sylvester Stallone 🤣) and storms the castle to the beat of I Need a Hero with those little cookie guys backing him up... I was dying from all the parodying. And don't even get me started on Antonio Banderas playing a Zorro spoof... just pure gold.

Exactly...that's easily the best part of the movie. It sounds cheesy, but I still get chills watching that sequence...not sure why...but the way the music hits with the visuals is just perfect!!!🙏🙏👍

Lisa Ross65 said:The movie holds its own up until about the halfway point—it’s actually pretty decent then. But as it heads toward the finale, things just spiral into this excessive, over-the-top gunfight nonsense that I found grating. A real shame, honestly—they had all the ingredients to make something much better than this.

That's because the whole movie is basically a parody of action flicks like Bad Boys and Lethal Weapon...
Universal Soldier: Regeneration (2009) in Movies ·
Most people always wrote off Jean Claude van Damme as just another generic action guy with zero acting chops. But last year, he flipped the script and proved everyone wrong with "JCVD," a movie that raked in massive praise from both audiences and critics alike. After that win, and after JCVD basically said "tras/bam thank you Mr. Van Damme" regarding his old cheesy flicks—stating he was ready to move toward more serious, meaningful projects—everyone expected a shift in his career. He even turned down a role in Sylvester Stallone's upcoming blockbuster "The Expendables" because he felt the character lacked any real depth.
Unfortunately, Van Damme can't seem to outrun his own past or some pretty questionable calls. Because of those bad decisions, he ended up stuck making "Universal Soldier: Regeneration," the second sequel to his big 90s hit "Universal Soldier." The first sequel, "Universal Soldier: The Return," came out in 1999 and was total garbage (plus there were two unofficial TV sequels back in '98).
People have been asking why he passed on "The Expendables" just to do this, but here’s the real story. It turns out he was legally cornered into doing this if he wanted to avoid a lawsuit that would cost him a fortune. See, a few years back, Van Damme signed a deal with producer Moshe Diamant ("Hard Target", "TimeCop") to do a martial arts drama called "The Smashing Machine"... but Van Damme bailed at the last minute, killing the project. However, the contract stayed active, so Moshe basically grabbed Van Damme by the balls (LOL), and "Universal Soldier 3" is the result. Van Damme has admitted several times that he wasn't feeling this movie at all; he shot it in just 20 days and refused to help promote it.
On the flip side, Dolph Lundgren—who the producers also managed to drag into the mix—actually had a choice. Unlike Van Damme, he didn't initially want in, but after talking to the director and seeing a few script tweaks, he agreed to a small, almost cameo-style role that he knocked out in just five days. He’s playing Andrew Scott again, just like in the original, even though his character died at the end of the first one. The writers handled it the classic way: cloning. LOL. Along with Dolph and Van Damme, the cast features Andrei "The Pit" Arlovski, a former UFC heavyweight champ, UFC fighter Mike Pyle, and Jon Foo, the young martial arts talent you might recognize from "Taj Yum Goong" who's also heading into "Tekken."
The film is directed by John Hyams, the son of the old legend Peter ("Outland", "Timecop", "Sudden Death", "End of Days"), while Peter himself handles production and cinematography. This is clearly a low-budget affair, sitting around $14 million, and they filmed in Bulgaria to stand in for the US setting where the story takes place. John mentioned wanting to give it a documentary feel, which makes sense given his background in documentaries, including one about MMA fighters—"The Smashing Machine"—which provides a solid foundation for this kind of movie.
The film had its premiere at Fantastic Fest in Texas on October 1st, and surprisingly, the crowd response was pretty decent and positive ("entertaining reunion of Lundgren and Van Damme" was just one of many comments). There was even some buzz about a limited theatrical run, but Sony Pictures ultimately decided to dump it straight to video. It hits DVD and Blu-ray on February 2, 2010.

Anyway... action fans should be happy enough...

TRAILER

PLOT
After hijacking some top-secret tech, terrorists build a next-gen Universal Soldier—basically a genetically modified killing machine you can program. Led by this "UniSol" (Arlovski), they take over a broken-down nuclear plant in the US, threatening to let loose a massive radioactive cloud. The only guy capable of stopping this mess is Luc Deveraux (JCVD), a retired UniSol who's been out of the game for years.
Once he's back in action and retrained, Deveraux has to storm the heavily fortified site. But once he's inside, he realizes he's facing not just one, but two of these unstoppable freaks. Andrew Scott (Lundgren), the brutal UniSol rival from the original Universal Soldier, has been brought back and upgraded in secret. These elite soldiers are primed and ready to kill, and millions of lives are riding on this massive showdown.
