Gold for the taking (Kelly's Heroes) in Movies ·

Maybe it's because I spent Saturday watching Hitchcock and Schatzberg, then Anderson yesterday, who knows. Mostly, it was just a massive bore.
The actors are basically just yelling at each other (Savalas is driving me nuts playing it this way, everything's a joke except for Sutherland, who seems to be playing some stoned, crazy artist-warrior type), there's zero drama, and the plot logic is weak—like, they just get a lieutenant drunk and suddenly he's spilling all his secrets? It’s all pretty garbage.

Man... you clearly don't know what fun is...😁☕

It’s so boring here I could die...👍

Best scene in the whole movie...

The Duel

A total beatdown homage to the movie bad and evil... 🙂

I know it was in California, but I can't pin down the exact town (specifically for that final scene).

Snippet from a review...

Filmed in collaboration with Aval Film, the entire production took place in California, using locations that served as great stand-ins for the famous Normandy bocage—those thick hedgerows and stone walls you see in France. Having access to the US Army's equipment and resources at the time was likely the main reason they chose to shoot there.

That's about all I've got...🤷

Absolute classic... killer soundtrack and that showdown with Tiger on the train was top-tier—total spaghetti western vibes🙏👍
The Day of the Beast (1995) in Movies ·
Absolute masterpiece... though I’d definitely suggest checking out some other stuff by Alex Rodriguez... The Community, 800 Washington Bullets, and you can't miss Crime ferpecto (you can even rent it at a local video store... there's this one incredibly stupid translation out there called "Shaq and his singer"🙄🙄🤣)

San Diego Comic-Con Clip - and honestly? It's nothing special. 🙄🤷

We all know Samuel L. Jackson is a powerhouse, but let's be real—he's had a string of pretty mediocre or even flat-out bad movies lately, like "jumper", "The man", and "xxx : state of The union". Honestly, though, this one looks like it might actually be different. Based on the trailer, Jackson is set to absolutely crush it. It gives off some "Unlawful entry" vibes with Ray Liotta and Kurt Russell, or maybe a "bad day on The Block" situation with Charlie Sheen, but I don't really care. If Jackson delivers a gritty, intense performance like we expect, it'll be worth it.

PLOT
A young couple (Patrick Wilson and Kerry Washington) has just moved into their California dream home when they become the target of their next-door neighbor, who disapproves of their interracial relationship. A stern, single father, this tightly wound LAPD officer (Samuel L. Jackson) has appointed himself the watchdog of the neighborhood. His nightly foot patrols and overly watchful eyes bring comfort to some, but he becomes increasingly harassing to the newlyweds. These persistent intrusions into their lives causes the couple to fight back.

That’s actually my plan—I'll check it out soon.
Hard to say who wins out between Angelina or Monica, though. 😁

As far as looks go... personally, I think Monica is a total knockout 👍...but she didn't work for me in this one. Just a bad role and a bad character. Angie was alright in Wanted...nothing groundbreaking, but those action roles suit her way better than most other actresses trying to force their way into the genre...

David Price5 said:The music is just phenomenal. Honestly, you could easily market this as the next big Batman epic or even something along the lines of Lord of the Rings...

Right? Haha... like I said about those horror flicks... what an "epic" way to step out of a car, honestly. LOL😁🤣
Slap (2009) in Movies ·
This isn't some massive summer blockbuster like Indiana Jones 4 or The Dark Knight... but does it grab your attention just as well? Absolutely. Honestly, the guys are gonna love this one, haha...
Basically, it's a grindhouse flick leaning hard into those 50s-70s exploitation vibes like "Faster Pussycat, Kill, Kill" (which Quentin Tarantino should probably remake in a year or two btw) and other classics where you've got badass, scantily clad women tearing everything up with guns... hell yeah!! I'm down for that!! LOL
Here's a funny little trivia bit for you... the movie features a ton of actors from the "Xena: Warrior Princess" and "Hercules: The Legendary Journeys" series, including Lucy Lawless and even Kevin Sorbo himself LOL

TRAILER

PLOT
trailer plot Quote: "Slap" is a post-modern, thinking man’s throwback to the “B” Movie/Exploitation films of the 1950’s - 70’s as well as a loving, sly parody of same. Inspired by the likes of Dragstrip Girls, “Faster Pussycat, Kill, Kill,” Kill; Kung Fu Nun and The Pantheon of Blaxploitation films, “Slap” mixes hot girls, fast cars, big guns, nasty tongues, outrageous action and jaw-dropping eye candy with a message… don’t be naughty!

Maybe in Dracula...

The whole damn movie... look, I was hyped for this, and I'm usually pretty chill with these kinds of flicks, so you can't claim I was expecting some deep masterpiece or that I didn't get the jokes. I've got a long-winded review coming where I break it all down... just waiting to drop it on the forum or over on Rotten Tomatoes...

Go watch "Wanted" then... it's basically the same vibe but 100% better, more original, and way more entertaining. 👍Personally, Shoot 'Em Up was a total letdown for me...
The Good, the bad and The Weird (2008) in Movies ·
First review I stumbled upon...

'The Good' is seductively entertaining in the way you expect a western movie to be : Three of Korea's most endearing actors ride around with guns on horseback and engage in a pulsating train robbery, cross-country treasure hunt and three-way shootout. But The films Has that inherent Koreanness ; IT capitalizes on Heritage in a New playing field. Exceeding All domestic Records in terms of budget and number of takes for shoots , IT recreates The exoticism of 1930 sa Manchuria , The Natural born child of The Ancient Silk Road where All of Asia seems to melt together in One pot....

Even better example—it was delayed and barely even hit theaters... honestly wouldn't be surprised if Outlander ends up being late too LOL
Outlander (2008) in Movies ·
Drew Wright5 said:I mean, there’s a slim chance our local theaters might actually pick this one up, but don't hold your breath—it probably won't stay on the big screen for long. I suppose the main draw is having JC in the cast, and since everyone here still remembers him from Passion, people might show up just for that. We'll see, I guess...

Look, even a movie like "Domino" had huge names (Keira Knightley, Lucy Liu, Christopher Walken, Mena Suvari, Mickey Rourke, etc.) and a famous director (Tony Scott), yet it skipped the US theaters entirely and went straight to DVD.
It was the exact same story with "The Assassination of Jesse James by The Coward Robert Ford"... a critically acclaimed flick starring Brad Pitt, Casey Affleck, Sam Shepard, Mary-Louise Parker, and a whole bunch of others that critics called one of last year's best... and it also showed up straight on DVD.

So, I'm not holding my breath for Outlander hitting the big screen... just like Pathfinder didn't... though, like Bond would say... you never know...
Outlander (2008) in Movies ·
Even with some big names attached, this isn't exactly a blockbuster title... personally, I think it’s headed straight to the bargain bin at a local video rental store.
