David Sanders4 said:given your motherboard and how much you're saving, the Ryzen 5 3600 would be a total steal, especially since something like an FX 6350 costs way more...
so yeah, upgrading from what I've got right now actually makes sense.
if I could actually swing getting an 8350, do you think it'd run okay on my current board?
Jeremy Fowler4 said:I'm running a Ryzen 5 3600 on that ASUS board, paired with a Sapphire HD7770, and honestly, I'm pretty happy with it. everything I throw at it works fine... everything from playing basically any game to grinding through different software suites...
Is it actually worth making the jump from my Phenom 2 x4 3.4 BE over to the
?
I mean, I was reading online that you can overclock this thing without much trouble—get it up to 4.0 GHz easily, and apparently, some people even hit 4.5 or even 5.0 GHz, which sounds wild
This one was my original plan, but man, it’s a bit pricey. Maybe I could save a few bucks there... But if that first option is solid, I might just pull the trigger on it. Both sets of reviews look pretty stellar, honestly.
Here is what else I'm running.
NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060, 4GB of RAM, EVGA 500 W1, and an ASUS ROG Maximus
And look, it’s not like you won't be able to use it once they pull the plug. It’s not like there’s a massive mountain of updates left to deal with anyway. I mean, sure, there's the whole future-proofing thing with upcoming OS versions, but people always figure that stuff out eventually.
My only real worry is if Last.fm decides to mess with my setup. 😁
I don't know, I can't quite remember. It was back when I was running Windows 7. Now I've moved on to Windows 8 and it just keeps rebooting on me. Hmm, I think I might have already tried that, but I guess I'll give it another shot. Or maybe I didn't. Who knows.
Looking at this, my card doesn't have the 64-bit slot :S the slot on my specific card looks way smaller. Could that actually be the issue? Like, older versions of Windows were 32-bit while the newer ones are 64-bit.
Even though they do offer drivers for both 32 and 64-bit systems.
But now, when I plug it into the new board and try to load the drivers, I just get a BSOD on Windows 7. And on Windows 8? It just keeps rebooting until I have to perform a full system restore just to get back into the OS. I actually tried swapping it into a few other newer boards—even an ASRock one—but, well, no luck there either.
Does anyone have any idea what's going on? I don't think it's a software issue, honestly... I've pretty much cycled through every driver available. One thing that really caught my eye in the specs was this: 3.3V / 5V compatible PCI card
Is it possible that modern motherboards have different voltage levels in the PCI slot? Like, maybe it's too high or too low? And if that is the case, is there any way to actually control or fix that?
Any advice at all would be huge. This sound card is way too good to toss, and I definitely don't have the cash to drop $400 on a new one right now. $667.
Timothy Kim60 said:Honestly, you’d get way more bang for your buck with the 7770. Just grab it. That 7750 you're looking at? It's basically just a slightly beefed up 4870, maybe a tiny bit better, I guess.
Hey, so... I'm actually pretty stoked with this MSI 7770 1GB GDDR5 Ghz Edition! 😁 Everything is running on high settings for me, which is awesome 😁
Yeah, it's toast. I've always stuck with BenQ and honestly, I’m pretty happy with them. My last one lasted well over 8 years... just a standard model from back then, too.
So, I’ve been stuck at 1280x1024 up until now, but honestly, that was just the ceiling on my old monitor. Now I'm actually looking at picking up an actual monitor—though, if I'm being real, I was playing everything on a 32-inch TV before, haha.
I don't know, I guess we'll see how it goes. I'll figure out what works best once I get it. I mean, I've never really played anything at a resolution higher than 1280x1024, so this is all kind of new to me.
So, I'm thinking about grabbing this one myself... what’s wrong with it? Honestly, just go for that one. + As for the power supply, if it’s 500W it should be plenty, I guess, but if it isn't some high-quality unit, it might not last very long, so you'll probably end up needing to swap it out eventually.
An SC is coming in just under a month. Plenty of time for Watch Dogs, I guess. I already pulled the trigger on this one, so if I’ve got some extra cash stashed away after the summer, maybe I'll grab a newer model. (I'm working weekends down at the beach all summer, so we'll see how it goes) 😁
alright, thanks, I think I've settled on the 7770 🙂
It should definitely handle high settings on the new Splinter Cell: Blacklist, and as for Watch Dogs... I'm really hoping it manages to push past just medium settings 🙂)
swiftfalcon89 said:Solid choice, honestly, but if you can swing the extra cash for $267, you should probably grab this one instead for $33 you get a way better card plus an extra year of warranty...
Yeah, I saw that one. It’s not exactly a steal, but hey, what do I know? I just tend to trust Sapphire more than most 😁
I'll probably mull it over until next Wednesday
EDIT: Okay, so I spent some time digging around online just now... yeah, I think I'm gonna go with that 7770 😁
So, I'm currently rocking an HD 4850, but I really want to upgrade so I can actually play some newer stuff, you know? Like Splinter Cell, or Watch Dogs...
Money is a bit tight right now, honestly. I'm looking at maybe $700, tops, if I'm being generous $267
I was thinking about grabbing this
unless you guys have a better suggestion. My CPU is a phenom 2 x4 3.4 be, and my power supply should be fine enough, I guess.
There are just way too many women in her group right now, so it’s getting crowded. I guess she wants to move. She actually thinks the club is great, though.
She found a Pit Bull gym, which is pretty close to her. Is it any good?
Does anyone know a kickboxing club that takes girls? Somewhere near downtown, maybe around the area of the Chase Tower or the Chrysler Building. Just nothing like a big corporate gym like Planet Fitness. thnx
