Punishing "grammar police in Feedback & Suggestions ·
jap - Jerry Martin19, you've got my full support on this... back when I first joined last year, I ran into all sorts of losers whose only response to my posts was telling me not to mix up my vowels or grammar... look, buddy—get a life... if you don't have anything smart or constructive to say, or a way to actually engage with my post reasonably, then don't even bother talking to me..

..like what you pointed out—if I'm from the coast, which I am, and if I use my local dialect in everyday speech (and honestly, I use it at college too and none of those stuffy professors ever batted an eye) then I definitely don't need those types of people on this forum..

I get annoyed by a ton of little things with certain users here too, so what? There's a million times more of that stuff in real life, and it never occurs to me to lose sleep over it, let alone argue about it on a forum... if someone can't handle my writing style, they can just hit the ignore button and move on... peace out😉

this thread is pure madness 😉

Since you guys wouldn't just let me be, I went ahead and grabbed some Mira and Poloka five minutes ago. Honestly? It’s just your run-of-the-mill soda from Pago... still giving it a solid 4.5/5 though.

Catatonic Beaver and Xavierkat from the movie 🙏 (does anyone actually know if Dobia ever gets punished for anything?? 🤷)

Just Sandy from DIK (she’d be a total babe in real life) 🙏 🙏 🙏

What a load of garbage... "A mother never fails once, let alone twice"... what kind of nonsense is that?

I got exactly what I was looking for: a touching story about two aging guys who don't have much left in life besides a little bit of fun. If you can look past the clichés—like how one guy magically has unlimited cash just to make the whole scheme work—it's a pretty smooth watch that doesn't require too much heavy lifting from your brain...

The director definitely hit his mark.

You took the words right out of my mouth... I agree completely, totally, absolutely, 100%, without a doubt, through and through...

I can’t believe I didn't find out about this Film sooner...

Watched it last night and honestly? I'm just disappointed. Not because it was bad, but because it had the potential to be twice as good. It’s a super gripping watch, mostly just because of how flawlessly the lead pulls off those murders... he's just on another level when it comes to planning.

I've gotta back up some of the earlier comments here—it’s been a long time since I’ve seen a killer this meticulous and calculated. Maybe Zodiac is an exception, but that one was more about the detective and reporter trying to crack the case rather than the killer's actual methods... The closest thing I can think of to our guy Mr. Brooks is the near-perfect killer from Fincher's work...

I’ll say it again: this Film could've been legendary if it had been handled by a top-tier director who actually knew how to focus on the villain instead of getting bogged down in trivial, useless subplots. Still, despite all that, it’s a more than solid watch. I'd definitely recommend it to anyone who digs this kind of thriller.

Wait, what’s this movie even about? Like, what's the actual premise??

Man, thanks for the help with XP... just got everything running again, sounds good now...

(this is the second time you've had to "fix" my PC—first was that Windows Genuine issue)

I owe you a drink!

Thanks again 👍

don't have the disc... any chance you could drop a link where I can download it? thanks

Every time I check the properties, everything says it's running optimally... Look, I'm no tech wizard, so I really don't want to go through the whole uninstall and reinstall nightmare just to end up breaking something else...

(If I end up deleting the program entirely, can I just just download it and install it all over again?)

No checkmark here—it actually says "No Audio Device" right at the top...

My old man was messing around on my PC and somehow managed to wipe out my sound driver (ask God how...) so now that little gray speaker icon is totally gone from the bottom right corner... I can't hear anything at all, whether it's an MP3 (Winamp) or just some movies on DVD... Any chance you guys could suggest some ways to fix this mess??

PS - I do have this one thing: Realtek HD Audio Manager and if I dig through some of its settings I can actually hear stuff... but everything else is just dead silence???

Thanks for understanding and for any help you can give 👍
Lost in translation in Movies ·
I’m basically reposting this because I said it once and I'll say it again: this movie is just incredible. It’s such a simple look at the warmth between two people from totally different generations who somehow find common ground... both dealing with their own messes, lost in an uncertain world, deciding to tackle their self-inflicted chaos together...

Honestly, it’s been a long time since a movie like this actually hit me this hard (the last one was Glory Forever Unconquered), but this little masterpiece by Sofia Coppola is something else. It’s so simple yet so complex in how it handles human connection, turning a massive generational gap into actual hope...

What movie is playing on TV AGAIN? in Movies ·
And that "Mama" movie starring Jamie Foxx was on RTL just six months ago too...
Martin Scorsese’s 1995 flick "Casino" is based on that book by Nicholas Pileggi and Larry Shandling. You've got Robert de Niro playing Sam " Ace " Rothstein, this top-tier gambling expert the mob brings in to run the Tangiers casino in Las Vegas. Then there's Joe Pesci as Nicky Santoro, a heavy-hitting debt collector sent straight from Chicago. The mob bosses ship Santoro out to Vegas to make sure the cash keeps flowing at Tangiers and to keep the local outfits in line. Sharon Stone plays Rothstein's wife, the high-maintenance and totally wild Ginger. Honestly, Sharon Stone killed that role—she even snagged an Oscar nomination for it.

Back in the seventies, Las Vegas was basically a gold mine for all kinds of "entrepreneurs" looking to make it big in that gambling paradise. This was way before the government stepped in and started cracking down on the mob. Ace was such a wizard with the numbers that he climbed the ranks fast, eventually running the show at a major Vegas casino. Pretty soon, he’s eyeing control over four different spots, complete with massive estates and pool parties... the whole nine yards. For a guy as cold and focused as Ace, the only thing that could actually mess with his head was the gorgeous Ginger (Sharon Stone), a former dancer who becomes his wife. He stays untouchable by keeping local politicians and big shots in his pocket. But sometimes you gotta get your hands dirty, and Ace leaves all that heavy lifting to his buddy and partner Nicky Santoro (Joe Pesci)—the kind of guy who handles problems with pure muscle. Problem is, Nicky's greedy streak leads him to stick his nose where it doesn't belong, which is gonna piss off his bosses... and things will really hit the fan when Nicky starts messing with Ace's wife.

As the movie winds down, it starts feeling a lot like Goodfellas, heading toward that total system collapse...
Directors who totally missed the mark in Movies ·
I think Oliver Stone is slowly creeping his way onto this list too. What he did with Alexander the Great was—in my opinion—a complete disaster. Usually, even with a bad historical epic, there’s enough actual history to anchor the story and pull it back to reality, but with Alexander... there's just no saving it. It feels like he's following a pretty nasty pattern, too, with how he handled 9/11. The only thing that kept that movie from being a total train wreck was pure American patriotism and that desperate urge to act like we were much bigger victims than we actually were...

It’s honestly tragic how this sub is filled with people who just want to suck up to a few big names 🙏 and call it a day. Real conversation and actual debate seem to bore them to death. That's why this thread is dying, and frankly, it's the same story with every other thread on this board. It's pretty pathetic...

A handful of people actually contribute something, while the rest—who unfortunately make up the majority—are just typing for the sake of typing... 🤮

If discussion is nothing more than airing personal opinions and stances, then where does objectivity fit in? What happened to just presenting facts regardless of how you feel about them? There are plenty of factors involved that have absolutely nothing to do with personal bias or opinion 😉

I honestly think this forum works because it’s all about subjective takes (which is exactly why I’m here). If I wanted to hear from some stuffy expert or a professional critic, I’d just head over to those specialized review sites. What I actually care about is what you guys think—the perspective of the everyday viewer... not some guy who makes his entire living writing reviews for a living.

Look, before this thread turns into a total clusterfuck, I’m gonna back off here... I think I’m being fair, since we all show up to places like this with different agendas and priorities anyway... So, my bad if I stepped on any toes or messed with the vibe of the old-timers around here... 👍

Jerry Martin19 said:Look, even though I dig most of those flicks, De Niro's roles all feel like the exact same guy just going by different names. It’s always the same formula, the same acting style... I'm not saying he's bad at it, it's just getting a little repetitive, even if it doesn't bother me too much 🙂

...but yeah, I'm with what was said before
Robert De Niro in Movies ·
Jerry Martin19 said:From what I can tell, it’s not even titled "For those who think Robert De Niro is one of the greatest actors ever." 😉

Man, a topic is just a topic. As long as we're talking about the subject matter, it doesn't matter whose perspective it is or how they see it. Not trying to act smart here, but the simplest definition of a forum is "a place for discussion," not "a place to force your views on others"... 🙂

Honestly, out of all the greats, De Niro is my least favorite...

They call this a "discussion forum"... but honestly, it feels more like a place where you aren't actually allowed to have an opinion or stand your ground...
