Jack Nicholson Giveaway!!! (Oct 25 - 28) in Movies ·
Man, Anthony Smith3, you absolutely nailed this one! Seriously, this has gotta be the best giveaway we've ever had, hands down.

Honestly, can we just take a second to appreciate that Jack Nicholson is an absolute living legend? I mean, seriously, where else are you going to find that kind of raw, unmatched energy on screen? 🙏🙏

Look, if I’m being totally honest, my heart usually beats a little faster for *The Shining*, and man, I really wish that was the one taking home the big trophy instead of *One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest*. But honestly? It doesn't even matter in the grand scheme of things because both of those movies are absolute, undisputed masterpieces.

Anthony Smith3 said:Just checking... purely out of curiosity... anyone actually interested in this game? Who's planning on jumping in??🙂

Are you seriously asking me if I'm participating? Of course I am! You bet I am! 👍👍

Man, even though I don't have the Special Edition Blu-ray yet—which honestly kills my motivation a little bit—I'm still gonna jump in and join the conversation!

goldenhound32 said:I mean, come on, there isn't a soul alive who doesn't love Jack Nicholson.

Exactly. I mean, come on, who doesn't absolutely love Jack Nicholson? 😉

The movie "Super" is honestly just super. 👍

Oh man, it’s got that girl from "hard Candy" in it too! 😁

Nicole Foster71 I can't even begin to tell you how much I love diving into these deep dives! It’s like, where do you even start when you're looking at something this massive? Honestly, I was just sitting here thinking about all the layers to this, and man, does it get complicated! You know how it is when you start pulling on one thread and suddenly the whole thing unravels in front of you? That's exactly what happened here. Is it just me, or does everything feel so much more intense when you really look at the history behind it? I mean, seriously, who wouldn't want to spend hours dissecting this stuff? It’s just too good to pass up!
Honestly, the original version was just absolute perfection, wasn't it? It totally outdid itself for its time, so I'm really crossing my fingers and hoping the new one doesn't end up being a massive letdown!🙂

I'm totally with you on that—honestly, I still think the original Forbidden Planet from 1956 is one of the absolute best sci-fi movies ever made, even by today's standards! How does a movie from that era still hold up so incredibly well? It’s just a masterpiece.

I’m seriously crossing my fingers that this remake actually turns out great, you know? I really, truly hope we don't end up feeling totally let down by the whole thing after all the hype.

Forbidden Planet (2013)

So, there's this classic sci-fi masterpiece called Forbidden Planet, and get this—they're actually planning a remake soon!
I mean, we don't have a ton of juicy details yet, and nobody really knows when they might actually start shooting, but honestly? I feel like a remake of a cult sci-fi legend like this totally deserves its own spotlight.
The chatter about doing a remake has been swirling around since 2007, and back in 2008, Straczynski explained that the original had been his favorite science fiction film, and it gave Silver an idea for the new film that makes it... well, you know. He told Joel Silver that the movie shouldn't just be some "retro" throwback, especially since the original was so far ahead of its time back in the 1950s; instead, the new version should be super modern and packed with all those high-end sci-fi visuals we crave today.
Right now, though, it's anyone's guess who's going to be behind the camera or which big-name actors might show up in the cast, since no directors or stars have been officially linked to it yet. As of right now, the project is sitting firmly in "development," and if the current word is anything to go by, they're aiming to have everything wrapped up by 2013.

New Line Cinema had developed a remake with James Cameron, Nelson Gidding and Stirling Silliphant. In 2007, DreamWorks set up the project with David Twohy. Warner Bros. reacquired the rights the following year and on October 31, 2008, J. Michael Straczynski was announced as writing a remake. Joel Silver will produce. Straczynski explained that the original had been his favorite science fiction film, and it gave Silver an idea for the new film that makes it "not a remake", "not a reimagining", and "not exactly a prequel". His vision for the film will not be retro, because when the original was made it was meant to be futuristic. Straczynski met with people working in astrophysics, planetary geology and artificial intelligence to reinterpret the Krell back-story.

Haha! 😂 It’s totally doable, honestly! And you just know the car is gonna have "Desperado" emblazoned right on it. 🤣

So, I just finished watching it.

Look, given how massive the budget was, it isn't exactly a disaster, but honestly? It didn't hit nearly as hard as I thought it would.

I’ll probably give it another spin before I drop my final verdict, but right now, I don't think it deserves more than a 3/10.
Just a heads-up, I'm not saying I'm totally disappointed or anything, it’s just that the whole thing felt a bit lifeless at times, you know? There were definitely moments where it dragged and got pretty boring.

For comparison, I actually enjoyed that fan-made "Metal Gear Solid: Philanthropy" way more, and get this—that project had a tiny budget of maybe like $10,000! But hey, what doesn't kill you makes you stronger, right? At the end of the day, it's all about personal taste, and someone else might think the low-budget version is trash while loving this one, or vice versa.
Man, this movie was seriously good—I am totally blown away!

After wading through all those trash reviews online and sitting through so many total flops, we finally got a legit Robin Hood story that actually works! 👍

The pacing is spot on, the casting is killer, and I have to give a huge shoutout to Russell, who absolutely crushed it as Robin. What I really loved about this take on the legend is how they actually managed to make Robin feel... well, real, you know? Since it's a prequel, I was fully expecting it to drag, so even though it clocks in at over two hours, I wasn't bored for a single second—every single minute felt necessary. Plus, they nailed the vibe perfectly, creating such an awesome atmosphere that just pulls you in.
And that ending? Man, it was perfect, totally staying true to that classic Robin Hood spirit.

Bottom line: it’s a fantastic flick and definitely worth your time if you haven't seen it yet.

My rating: 8/10

Rambo: First Blood (1982) without a second thought—even though I actually think Rambo 4 is pretty solid, nothing beats the original in my book.

Personally, I feel like the second installment gets way more hate than it deserves because it’s such a blast, whereas the third one? Man, that was just a weak attempt at an action flick.

Rambo 1 - 7/10
Rambo 2 - 6/10
Rambo 3 - 3/10
Rambo 4 - 6/10

First off, I really gotta give a massive shoutout to Anthony Smith3 for setting up this awesome sweepstakes !!!! It was such a blast, even if I have to admit I ended up lifting about half my answers straight from feralorca82 and briskhound2 😁 but hey, it was still a total riot regardless, so thanks a ton, Anthony Smith3, for all the effort and the cash you put into making a game like this happen. 👍

And I also want to send a huge congrats to our big winners—feralorca82, briskhound2, and gentlebadger88—seriously guys, you crushed it! Major props to you all! 👍

Just try using line breaks or putting everything in a table and dropping a link to that. Probably your best bet

Man, look, Evil, it’s honestly fine leaving it like this so we don't end up giving the guy an even bigger headache, especially since he's already swamped with everything going on with this game.

But wait, who else would be running the show, huh? 😉 Who else but Evil? 🙏 You seriously rock! 👍

Anthony Smith3, when does this whole thing wrap up? Like, what time are we looking at? 🤷

QUESTION NO. 12.

This one's a bit of a "puzzle." Your job is to look at the image below and figure out which action movie it's from.

Get it right and you'll snag 3 credits.

QUESTION NO. 13.

In the image below, I've mashed together three different shots from three separate action movies. My question is: which movies am I looking at? Getting all three right earns you 3 points, two correct answers gets you 2 points, and just one right gets you 1 point.

Hey dragon haha, I've got two quick questions for you regarding number 12!

I honestly think you’re gonna spot this yourself, but hey, if you could just fix that last part? It really needs to be 13.
So, I went ahead and submitted my answers for number 11, and then I hit that first number 12, since that second number 12 actually needs to be number 13, right?
