Die Hard franchise in Movies ·
redmarlin27 said:Just rewatched the original trilogy.

Got the first and third ones lying around somewhere. The third one is solid during the first half while that Simon Says guy is messing with him over the phone, but then it drags a bit for me. I'll give the win to the original.😁

The second one is a little weaker, but still decent. Best part is definitely the ending where McClane blows up that plane full of terrorists.🙏

Time to finally check out the fourth one.🙂

Bottom line? The first one is the king, followed by the third, then the second, and the fourth is just... well, the fourth.

But seriously, how have you not seen Die Hard yet? It's such a blast, you've gotta watch it—though personally, I think the first three are way better than anything else.

First Name - Mustang
Last Name - Shelby
Nickname - GT500

And there you have it. 🤣

As for the actual topic, I'm honestly just crossing my fingers that if nothing else happens, the action scenes at least turn out decent, you know? I really hope they don't pull those typical American clichés that the black guy was pushing; honestly, that whole vibe feels pretty unnecessary and could totally be left out.

But seriously, have you actually watched the movie? What did you think of it? I mean, since you're already hanging out here, why don't you give us some actual thoughts on the film instead of just nitpicking the person who started the thread—aka me? 😉

Jose Thomas6 said:The first one was really solid. My biggest issue was seeing Cage in that role because I just couldn't picture him there, but in the end, it turned out to be a good movie....

Man, I’m right there with you! It was a fun ride, definitely a good way to pass the time, even if it wasn't anything groundbreaking, you know? And look, I don't hate Cage at all, it's just that he didn't feel like the perfect fit for this specific part—I mean, wouldn't someone like Christian Bale have been interesting to see instead? But, you gotta give it to him, Cage actually managed to pull it off and really lean into the character.

I'm really crossing my fingers that the sequel steps things up and beats the first one! Wouldn't it be wild if they shook things up with the casting for a change? Imagine if they brought in someone like Christian Bale or maybe Kate Beckinsale or even Charlize Theron to lead the charge? Anyway, if you're wondering about my take on the original, I'd say it was a 4/10.

The "Ghost Rider" saga is keeping the engine revving!

So, get this—Columbia Pictures is officially moving forward with a sequel to "Ghost Rider," and they're already in talks to bring back the legend himself, Nicolas Cage.

The plan is to have directors Mark Neveldine and Brian Taylor at the helm, with a script being worked on by Scott Gimpor and Seth Hoffman based on a story by David S. Goyer.

If you need a refresher, the first flick followed young biker Johnny Blaze, who basically makes a deal with the devil to save the people he loves, right? It’s all based on that awesome "Ghost Rider" comic. And hey, let's not forget that this action-packed supernatural ride actually pulled in a cool $229 million back in 2007! Just a heads-up though, Eva Mendes won't be returning for this next chapter.

Production is slated to kick off this fall.

Back on February 9, 2007, Marvel producer Avi Arad announced the development of Ghost Rider 2 during a big press event. Even Peter Fonda mentioned how much he'd love to step back into the role of Mephistopheles! Then, in early December, Nicolas Cage also has expressed interest to return in the lead role as Ghost Rider. Not long after that, he gave an interview saying he was really itching for a darker vibe for the story, joking, "He's not eating jelly beans anymore; he's getting drunk." He even hinted that the movie could use some fresh, brand-new villains to shake things up.

Fast forward to a September 2008 interview, where Nicolas Cage informed IGN that Columbia has taken meetings to get this sequel off the ground. Cage even dropped some hints about the plot, suggesting Ghost Rider may end up in Europe on behalf of the church, having story elements very much in the zeitgeist, like Da Vinci Code. By February 2009, word on the street was that Columbia Pictures had officially greenlit the sequel, with Cage set to reprise his iconic role while the studio hunted for the right writers. Then, on September 23, 2009, news broke that David S. Goyer signed on to pen the script. Goyer chatted with MTV about the project, explaining that the story picks up eight years after the first movie wrapped and expressing his hope to start shooting by 2010. The sequel, titled Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance, will be produced by Mike de Luc and will screen in PG-13. Finally, on June 14, 2010, it was all confirmed: Nicolas Cage will return and Mark Neveldine and Brian Taylor are in negotiations to direct.

Universal Pictures synopsis of Death Race 2:

Plot:
“‘Death Race 2’ is set in the very near future, right when the US Economy starts sliding downhill and violent crime begins spiraling totally out of control. To try and manage the massive surge in the criminal population, this huge web of for-profit, private prisons pops up everywhere, basically birthing a lawless subculture run by gangs, stone-cold killers, and pure sociopaths. The absolute worst of these places is Alcatraz.
A convicted cop-killer named Carl Lucas (Luke Goss) gets sent to Alcatraz to serve out his life sentence, just as this ruthlessly ambitious TV personality, September Jones, kicks off the most intense reality show ever: Death Race. It’s this brutal prison yard demolition derby where inmates go head-to-head in heavy-duty, steel-reinforced, armed-to-the-teeth vehicles, and Death Race promises the winner the ultimate prize—freedom, provided they actually survive to see it. Once Lucas signs up as a driver, everything is set for a legendary racer to be born.”

Unfortunately Death Race 2 won’t be hitting theaters... It’s going straight to DVD, which honestly has me a little nervous about how good the movie is actually gonna be, since I guess Death Race 2 budget will be limited…

Let me just throw this question out there one more time, because honestly, if nobody jumps in to reply, I’m gonna start feeling like a total nutjob just shouting into the void by myself! 😁

Man, I couldn't catch a wink of sleep last night, just tossing and turning, and while my brain was spinning, I started wondering what I should watch. I ended up rewatching that super fun TMNT movie, and it actually triggered a memory that made me realize I totally forgot I even started this thread! But hey, honestly, can you blame me? It’s pretty normal to lose track of things when nobody has posted here in over three months—it's been, what, less than a hundred days since the last update?

Andrew Roberts3 said:Oh man, heck yeah!!! Honestly, the first movie is hands down one of my absolute favorite animated flicks of all time. It’s just such an incredible, heartwarming story, and it’s packed with so much action and laughs, too. I mean, there's really no doubt in my mind that the folks at Pixar are going to knock it out of the park again with another masterpiece.

If you ask me, Monsters, Inc. is easily one of the top 15 animated movies ever made.🙏

redmarlin27 said:Personally, I think Shrek 2 beats the original... it’s got more energy, and that ending is gold... but hey, to each their own.

It really does come down to personal taste, doesn't it? 👍

But honestly, you know why I lean towards the first one? It’s because it has this sense of calm and a super straightforward story, kind of like how Alien or Predator have that focused, steady vibe, whereas the sequels just spiral into total chaos! So, if I had to put it this way, I’d say Shrek 2 is just a tiny bit weaker for me, even though there are moments where it’s just as great as how Aliens feels just a hair below Alien.

Man, I just finished watching this thing and I am seriously blown away! It’s such an incredible animated flick, and honestly, it makes me so proud to see something this high-quality coming out from my neck of the woods.

The animation is absolutely top-tier and the soundtrack? Phenomenal. But you know what really carries it? The story and the actual plot are just as solid, plus they did such a killer job depicting New York City in that far-off future setting. Everything about it just works, and if you look at the reviews on IMDb, people are totally vibing with it too. 👍
The character designs are just genius—I have to shout that out—and the voice acting cast was such a smart move by the creators.

And hey, speaking of what people think, if we're looking at global feedback, I gotta be real and unbiased here: the reception has been overwhelmingly positive, whether you're browsing forums or hitting up those big torrent sites. People are genuinely stoked that such a great animated movie is emerging from our side of the world. And then, like the icing on the cake, you see that news in the post above about Americans planning a remake... hmm, wait, haven't they already started on that? Still, I'm looking at it through rose-colored glasses; it’ll be fascinating to see how they tackle it, and if they throw a massive Hollywood budget at it, the only thing they could really level up is the animation itself.

Hollywood is picking up an American animated classic!

The producer behind 'Avatar' is filming a live-action version of an American sci-fi animation set in a futuristic NYC.

image

Can you believe it? Laeta Kalogridis, the executive producer of 'Avatar,' is set to produce a live-action remake of the American anime 'Technotise - EDIT i ja.' Since Kalogridis also wrote 'Shutter,' she's actually going to be the one penning the script for this big-budget Hollywood take on the American sci-fi hit. To top it all off, the remake will be produced by Legendary Pictures—the same studio behind absolute legends like 'The Dark Knight' and 'Guardians of the Galaxy,' and they’re even working on 'Batman 3' right now!

But seriously, what kind of American animation is Hollywood so desperate to get their hands on? The story takes us to a futuristic NYC in 2074, though it sprinkles in plenty of nods to the past, like October 5th and the Red Berets. Our lead is Edit, a psychology student who ends up with a mysterious chip implanted in her hand. Once Edit spots a graph containing this cryptic mathematical formula, the chip becomes self-aware and starts evolving inside her body! Suddenly, Edit realizes she’s gained these insane superhuman physical and mental abilities, but there's a catch: it’s a fight to the finish where only one can survive—her or the chip...

'Technotise - EDIT i ja' is truly the brainchild of Aleksa Gajić, who originally based the film on his own comic book. Gajić directed the film alongside Nebojša Andrić and Stevan Đorđević, while also handling the screenplay and the heavy lifting for animation and design. The original voice cast featured some massive names from the American acting scene: Nebojša Glogovac, Nikola Đuričko, Marija karati, and Srđan Todorović. While we don't know who will take the lead in the Hollywood version yet, Gajić has already let slip who he'd love to see in the title role: Jessica Alba!

Technotise - Edit & I (2009)

image

So, the story follows Edit, just your typical girl living and studying in New York City back in the year 2074. She spends her time volunteering at this research center where she’s looking after Abel, a total math prodigy on the autism spectrum. After Abel cracks a formula that basically unifies all the energy on Earth, he completely shuts down and stops communicating with anyone. Now, because she's struggling with some stuff at college and wants to boost her own brainpower, Edit decides to get a sketchy chip implanted. But here’s the kicker: once she happens to see the graph for that mysterious formula, the chip actually becomes self-aware! It starts evolving mentally and then physically into Edit's own parallel personality—Edi... and things get intense when Edit and Edi realize there can only be one winner left standing...

"Technotise – Edit & I" was definitely made with that high-end, modern global animation vibe in mind. From a tech standpoint, it’s a wild mix of four different styles—classic 2D, 3D, vector, and even collage animation. Some shots actually mash all four together! Visually, it draws a lot of inspiration from Japanese anime. The art style is super realistic yet uses minimalist animation, filled with these moody, static shots that give it such an authentic, artistic feel.

Cast:

* Sanda Knežević - Edit
* Igor bugarski - Abel
* Tatjana Đorđević - Sanja
* Nikola Đuričko - Bojan
* Nebojša Glogovac - Edi
* Marija karati - Broni

Honestly, the first one was a masterpiece, and even the second one was great—just a tiny bit weaker than the original, but still awesome. But that third one? It was just bad. Like you said, it was super boring. I actually sat down to rewatch the first two today, but I gave up halfway through the third one because it's just not on that level at all. I am seriously praying that Shrek 4 turns things around and beats the third one!

Has anyone managed to catch a Cam version yet? And what are the initial vibes like?

Man, this is such awesome news! Honestly, I’m counting down the days for this one just as much as I am for Toy Story 3 and Up 4!

It feels like a total dream come true because if you look back a few months ago—way before anyone even knew anything was happening—I was actually posting all about how much I wanted M2 on that "What movie do you want to see made?" thread.

Matthew Anderson4 said:I am seriously stoked for this, but you really have to wonder, right? What is Pixar thinking, jumping into all these sequels, Toy Story this, and now this? I mean, it never felt like they had any trouble coming up with something totally fresh and original before.🤷

But hey, I actually think it's great; I’ve always been a huge fan of seeing well-made animated films get a follow-up.
Monsters, Inc. is easily one of the best animated movies out there, so I am beyond pumped for the second installment.

Monsters Inc. 2 (2012)

image

So, after everyone on the internet has been losing their minds speculating about it, they finally dropped the news! A sequel is officially in the works, currently going by the working title Monsters Inc. 2, and we're looking at a release date around November 16, 2012.

Monsters Inc. 2 (2012)

The Monsters are coming back! Can you believe it? That massive animated hit from back in 2000 is actually getting a follow-up twelve years later, which means Monsters Inc. 2 should be ready for us to catch in theaters in 2012. Disney, who handles the distribution for this Pixar masterpiece, has finally made it official.

Now, Disney and Pixar are being pretty tight-lipped about who’s actually sitting in the director's chair—like, will Pete Docter be back at the helm after his recent huge success with Heaven? We just don't know yet!

In the meantime, we've got Toy Story 3 hitting the big screen, and Pixar is already cooking up another massive project called Brave, which tells the story of a Scottish princess voiced by Reese Witherspoon, slated for a summer 2012 release too.

Even though Shrek 4 isn't quite hitting those massive popularity heights like the third installment of the Toy Story series did—at least if you're just looking at the IMDb scores—I am still honestly counting down the days until it drops!

Right now, there isn't really a decent, high-quality version out there besides some grainy cam rip, but man, I am seriously looking forward to finally getting my hands on a crisp DivX copy sometime soon.

Shrek Forever After

So, get ready because Shrek Forever After is that big 2010 animated fantasy-family flick from DreamWorks Animation, and it actually serves as the fourth and final chapter in the whole Shrek series! The movie was directed by Mike Mitchell. It hit the big screens in the USA on May 21, 2010, while the premiere over here in America happened on May 27 that same year. During production, everyone was calling it "Shrek goes Fourth." And just like the previous movies we all know and love, the creators are leaning hard into those classic fairy tale vibes.

Hey, quick heads-up for anyone reading: the following text totally spoils the plot!
After dealing with endless adventures, fighting off dragons, playing hero to save the princess, and basically everything else you can imagine, Shrek (voiced by Mike Myers) has settled into this domestic life, becoming a total family man—though, let’s be honest, his daily routine has gotten pretty boring, hasn't it? Feeling like he's missing those wild, old-school days, he makes a deal with the sneaky Rumpelstiltskin (played by Walt Dohrn). The plan was for Rumpelstiltskin to give him back one day from his past, but the guy is a total crook and tricks him into giving up the very day Shrek was born! Suddenly, Shrek is tossed into a completely different dimension—an alternate reality where he and Princess Fiona (voiced by Cameron Diaz) never even met! In this weird version of things, Shrek is actually an endangered species and Rumpelstiltskin is the king of the world. Now, if Shrek and Fiona can manage to share a true love's kiss before sunrise, everything might just snap back to normal, but if they don't... well, Shrek is toast. To make sure things stay messy, Rumpelstiltskin sends a whole gang of witches to hunt him down.

Shrek Forever After is a 2010 animated fantasy-family film, and it is the fourth and final film in the Shrek series. It was released in theaters on May 20, 2010 in Russia, on May 21 in the United States, Pakistan, Canada, India and on May 28 in Vietnam. It was released on June 17, 2010 in Australia and Sri Lanka and on July 2, 2010 in the United Kingdom. It was released in 3-D and IMAX 3-D theaters.

Just like the Shrek films that came before it, the story plays around with those classic fairy tale themes. The trailer was actually paired with Avatar. Another trailer popped up online on March 12, 2010, which was later shown alongside 3D screenings of Alice in Wonderland and then later with How to Train Your Dragon.

The movie got a bit of a mixed bag from critics; some folks were saying it actually beats Shrek the Third, but they also felt it didn't quite hit the massive heights of the original Shrek or Shrek 2.

* Mike Myers as Shrek, the lead.
* Eddie Murphy as Donkey
* Cameron Diaz as Princess Fiona
* Antonio Banderas as Puss in Boots
* Walt Dohrn as Rumpelstiltskin, the main antagonist of the film.
* Jon Hamm as Brogan
* Craig Robinson as Cookie
* Jane Lynch as Gretched
