Movie theater pauses: Yay or nay? in Movies ·
NO WAY!

What kind of freaking blacked-out pause is that? Honestly, I’d go absolutely insane if they cut a movie right in the middle just to tell everyone to take a break! Thank god I haven't had to deal with that kind of nonsense yet, and besides, I don't even hit the local cinema all that often anyway. Right now, I'm already looking ahead to when Predators hits the big screen in maybe three or four months—that's when I'll be heading out to catch it.

Man, that ending just absolutely wrecks you.

The kids really nailed those performances, though, and honestly, the whole movie was incredible—I’m giving it a solid 8/10.👍

Seriously, is it even possible that nobody has watched this movie yet? I honestly thought people were actually into Ninja Turtles 😢

Look, let's just assume maybe nobody's seen it because their download speeds are dragging—I know we don't all have lightning-fast fiber at home—but still, not a single comment? Not even a quick one like what Richard Wilson4 posted? It's just super weird to me; I was totally expecting way more hype around this, but hey, what can you do, right? 🤷

Richard Wilson4 said:Is this one leaning into the good old versions or just being a bad remake of the new ones?

Honestly? Neither—it’s kind of a mix of both. But if I had to pick, it leans a bit more toward the classic vibe. So, the real answer to your question is pretty much fifty-fifty.

I finally sat down and watched it today, and here’s my take:

It isn't bad at all! It’s actually really cool seeing the classic turtles back together again, jumping into some fresh action.
There are some funny bits too, like when the newer turtles can't believe how goofy the old-school guys are—especially with that whole thing about having their initials on their belts, which they find totally ridiculous. Anyway, I won't spoil too much of the plot or get bogged down in all the tiny details from the movie.

* * *Warning! Don't read any further if you haven't seen the movie yet!* * *

The story and the setup are actually solid, though I felt like the character dynamics were a little off. For instance, there’s this moment where the new Shredder just slaps the old Shredder, and the old guy doesn't even try to swing back! Now, look, I don't follow the modern turtle series closely, so I'm not entirely sure just how powerful this new Shredder is supposed to be, but I remember the classic Shredder being a legit fighter in those early episodes. Sure, he got a bit sillier as the seasons went on, but they really went to extremes here. They made the old version look super goofy, while treating the new Shredder like he's some massive threat, almost like he's Predator or Alien. Is the modern stuff more serious? Maybe. And does the new Shredder seem tougher than the old one? Probably. But man, I just wish the old guy had at least tried to hit him back in that scene, even if he ended up getting beat down later.

Another thing I noticed is that the plot feels like a "greatest hits" compilation from the cartoon mixed with a news report. Like, there's this specific scene where the turtles are hunting for the Technodrome, which is basically a direct callback to an episode from the first or second season of the original show. Only this time, instead of just a few guys, you've got eight turtles—the new crew and the old crew—plus the new Splinter, all searching for the Technodrome and finding the old Shredder waiting there. And speaking of similarities, don't forget how the new Shredder gets giant and fights a giant Krang at the end; we all remember that episode from the 90s cartoon where Krang grew a massive body, right? It's all very reminiscent.

All in all, Turtles Forever is definitely worth a watch, especially if you're a die-hard fan of the franchise.👍

I'm actually downloading it right now, and honestly, I’m hoping to dive in pretty soon—if not immediately, then definitely tonight! Either way, I'll be sure to jump back on here and give you guys my full take once I've seen it.

My expectations are super high for this one, especially since this animated film is supposed to bring together both the classic and the modern versions of the Turtles, so I am dying to see how they actually pull off that crossover!

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Turtles Forever (2009) (TV)

image

genre: Animated | Action | adventure | comedy | thriller
duration: 90 min

So, if you're looking for some nostalgia, Turtles Forever is this awesome made-for-TV animated flick put together by 4Kids Entertainment. It was actually Produced in celebration of the 25th anniversary of the TMNT franchise, and honestly, isn't that wild? The whole idea is that they bring together all these different versions of our favorite turtle heroes—you've got the super goofy, kid-friendly crew from the classic 1987 animated series clashing with the much grittier, darker versions from the 4Kids 2003 animated series—all thrown into this massive adventure that jumps through different parallel universes!

They actually showed a rough, almost finished cut of the movie at the San Diego Comic-Con in July 2009. [1 ] It was originally supposed to hit theaters for a special one-night event on October 29, 2009, but things got messy with disputes between 4Kids Entertainment and others, so that whole thing ended up getting canceled according to national CineMedia. But hey, don't worry, because the movie eventually made its way to TV on The CW4Kids on November 21, right after the 25th anniversary Top 10 Countdown. [2 ] They even did an encore run from November 28 to December 12, breaking it down into three 22-minute segments. If you want the full experience, though, an uncut version popped up on the CW4kids website on December 16, which actually includes about 12 minutes of footage that didn't make it to the TV broadcast. [1 ] As for a DVD release? Well, nobody has officially announced a date for that yet, so we'll just have to keep our fingers crossed!

So, I just wrapped watching this one, and honestly, I’ve got mixed feelings—I definitely enjoyed what I saw, but there were a few things that rubbed me the wrong way, so let's dive into it.

Overall, the movie is actually pretty solid. First off, the acting was great, and I really appreciated that they didn't just rely on cheap jump scares or constant "boo!" moments; instead, they leaned heavily into building this thick, creepy atmosphere, which was executed perfectly and really got under my skin. Even though I've seen my fair share of movies in this genre, I still found myself totally sucked in, especially since this one actually holds up better than most of its competitors.

Where I did run into issues, though, is that the pacing felt super rushed in certain spots. Like, the setup and the whole introduction of the military presence happened way too fast? It felt like they were in such a hurry to get to the point that I can't help but think if the movie had been at least 30 minutes longer, it would have been significantly better. Another thing that felt unfinished to me was how quickly they breezed through some of the creepier sequences. Not all of them, obviously, but take that scene where they grab the truck—that could have lingered a bit longer to really let the tension build, you know? Still, it wasn't a total disaster even with the rushing.

The rating I'm giving it is a 6/10.

Honestly, everyone I've chatted with lately has been absolutely raving about this movie, and since I finally tracked down a high-quality DVDrip, I might actually get to sit down and watch it as early as tomorrow—so stay tuned, because I'll definitely be back to drop my thoughts once I'm done!
Case 39 (2009) in Movies ·
2/10

Honestly, it totally met my expectations, which were pretty low to begin with since I figured it wouldn’t be anything groundbreaking and would probably just feel like a cheap knockoff of classics like Ring, Ground, or The Exorcist... you know? And let's be real, those movies are absolute masterpieces, whereas Case 39 is just a mediocre attempt at trying to copy their vibe.

It’s definitely one of those lower-tier flicks that I’d only suggest to hardcore horror junkies who feel like they absolutely have to watch every single new release, or maybe to people like me who just want to kill some time and don't mind a mediocre movie night. That's why I ended up clicking play on this a few days ago.
As for the acting, it was okay, I guess? Starting with the lead, Renée Zellweger, she didn't really have much to work with here—it wasn't a demanding role by any means—so there isn't much to say other than she did a fine job, but again, the material just wasn't that deep. As for the little girl, she was decent at times, but mostly just hit-or-miss, much like the rest of the movie, which oscillates between being briefly entertaining and mostly just plain bad.

Honestly, if you ask me, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre is hands down the best movie she’s ever done! Seriously, can we just talk about that performance for a second? It’s easily her peak.

To be totally honest, Jessica Biel doesn't exactly have this massive, powerhouse acting range, right? And let's be real—if she wasn't such a total knockout, I doubt she would've landed half as many roles as she has. It feels like most of those parts were basically just written for a gorgeous girl who could hold her own with some baseline acting, but hey, can you really blame anyone? Even if we're looking at the facts, I absolutely adore her because she’s just so easy on the eyes! 😍

Man, I remember the first time I saw her back when she was just a teenager on *7th Heaven*. Honestly, I was basically tuning in just to see her, if I’m being real! Back then, she had this vibe that was just incredibly hot, you know? But looking at her now, it feels like every year she loses a little bit of that spark. She’s definitely gotten thinner, and she just doesn't have that same killer figure she used to have. Up until around 2003, she was easily at her peak—just totally stunning—but after that, the whole "sexy" factor just kind of leveled off for me.

Whether you've been following her since her early days or you just discovered her through some recent projects, this is our space to geek out. And hey, since we're all here together, why don't we make things a little more interesting? I want you guys to cast your votes for your absolute favorite movie starring Jessica Biel! Let's hear it—what's your top pick?

Jessica Biel So, let me tell you about one of my absolute favorites—Jessica Biel! She was born on March 3, 1982, and honestly, she’s such a powerhouse. She started out as a model before totally crushing it as an American actress, and man, does she have a resume that just keeps growing! Have you guys seen all those Hollywood films she’s been in? I mean, she was in that fun one *Summer Catch*, and then she went and did the remake of *The Texas Chainsaw Massacre*, which was wild. She even popped up in *The Illusionist*, *I Now Pronounce You Chuck & Larry*, and *Valentine's Day*. But wait, it gets better—doesn't everyone remember her from that classic family drama *7th Heaven*? She played Mary Camden, and seeing her grow from that role into everything she is today has been such a ride, don't you think? If you look her up on Wikipedia or check her credits on IMDb, you'll see she's basically been everywhere!

So, I was just falling down an internet rabbit hole earlier and ended up checking out Jessica Biel on IMDb. Seriously, where does the time go? It feels like just yesterday she was making her big mark in Hollywood films, and now she’s basically a legend. Have you ever looked back at her filmography and realized just how much she's actually done? It's pretty wild when you think about it! From those intense roles to more mainstream hits, she's always had that incredible presence that just draws you in, you know? It makes you wonder how many of those movies we all watched years ago were actually her breakout moments. It's honestly such a trip to see her career trajectory laid out like that.
So, I was just falling down a total rabbit hole online and ended up scrolling through Jessica Biel's Wikipedia page, because why not, right? Honestly, where does one even start with her career? It feels like she’s been a staple in Hollywood films forever! I mean, looking back at everything she's done, it's actually pretty wild how much she's worked. From those early roles to being a massive star, she really has put in the hours. Is there anything she hasn't tackled? She's such a powerhouse, and seeing all that history laid out just makes you realize how much she's contributed to the industry over the years. Seriously, though, isn't it crazy how fast time flies when you're watching a career evolve like that?
What's the best Dracula movie? in Movies ·
Man, you really could’ve thrown *House of Usher* (1960) into that mix! It’s such a classic, right? Honestly, though, you definitely gotta include an "other" option next time, otherwise what's even the point of the poll? Other than that, I think the survey is pretty solid!

So, I just cast my vote for Vampires a few minutes ago, but man, I’m still totally torn on Dracula... I honestly need to sit with that one for a bit because I just can't make up my mind yet!

Does anyone actually know what kind of budget they had for this flick?

Looking at these screenshots, the whole thing just looks super amateurish and honestly pretty rough, so I’m dying to know how much cash they threw at it. Just for some perspective, I recently watched Metallica, which only had like a $10,000 budget, and man, it looked incredible considering how little money was involved.

Oh, almost forgot to ask—has anyone seen a DivX version floating around online yet? ...I mean, I'd still love to give it a shot, unless I'm totally misjudging things and this is actually supposed to be a legit good horror movie.

So, I’ve been doing some thinking and finally settled on Hollywood Ending (2002)

image

Honestly, Tea Leoni and the "crazy" Woody Allen were just fantastic together in this one.
I actually think the movie is great—I’m giving it an 8/10—but I have to admit, Woody isn't exactly carrying the show here; if I were voting based on his performance alone, I’d definitely go with Fun with Dick and Jane instead, since that one feels even stronger, though like I said, Tea was really solid in this too.

What really had me torn was deciding whether to pick this flick or one of these others: The Family Man, Fun with Dick and Jane, or Deep Impact.
Those three, along with the one I eventually chose, are hands down my absolute favorites—or should I say, the best movies this actress has done.

I really have to give a shout-out to Fun with Dick and Jane, though, because man, that movie gave me such a stomach ache from laughing when I first saw it! It was so close—like, seriously close—that I almost voted for it, but after sitting with it for a bit, I still feel like Hollywood Ending is the better film.

briskhound2 said:Man, I honestly thought she had passed away or something! She’s definitely one of those actresses who is just a pleasure to watch, though I can't help but feel her career could have been even bigger than it was. Besides—if she can hold her own against the leads in Bad Boys with that kind of wit, then you know she’s actually got some chops.

Hey now, buddy, let's try to be a little more positive here, yeah? Why jump straight to thinking someone died? Knock on wood, let's hope not! 😍

What do you mean by "better"? Are you saying she didn't really live up to her full potential or tap into all that talent she clearly has?

Tea Leoni
February 25, 1966 (1966-02-25) (age 43)
New York City, New York, United States

She was born on February 25, 1966, right in the heart of New York City, United States. Can you believe she actually got her big break back in 1984 starring in the TV series "Santa Barbara"? Since then, she’s been everywhere! She’s had some seriously huge roles in movies like "A League of Their Own" (1992), "Wyatt Earp" (1994), "Bad Boys" (1995), "Flirting with Disaster" (1996), "Deep Impact" (1998), "There's No Fish Food in Heaven" (2000), "Triumph of Love" ("The Family Man"), "The Lost World: Jurassic Park" (2001), "Hollywood Ending" (2002), "People I Know" (2002), "Spanglish" (2004), and "House of D" (2004). Honestly, though, a lot of fans really remember her from that TV movie "The Counterfeit Contessa" back in 1994, didn't they?
