Look, X2: X-Men United and Mission: Impossible 2 are actually better than the originals, regardless of how much you hate modern sequels and new releases.🙂
But The Matrix is a whole different beast... Honestly, I’d almost call those sequels spin-offs rather than true follow-ups, because there wasn't really a massive need for them in the first place. So, The Matrix Reloaded and The Matrix Revolutions aren't just "The Matrix 1 but bigger"—they're just their own things.🙂
So Carpenter is disappointed... give me a break... Man, how can anyone even expect a slasher to be a good movie anyway!? I honestly don't get what people see in flicks like Halloween, Friday the 13th, Freddy, or Scream... I mean... yuck... 🙄
Honestly, what I just can't wrap my head around is why nobody in any of these Arthurian myths ever thought to just smash the damn rock where the sword is stuck, instead of struggling to pull the blade out 😁

Man, I'm sorry, I just don't get the joke. 🙂 I’ve honestly never made it past the three-minute mark with Poirot. If you're talking about that guy with the mustache—looks more like a beaver to me. 😬

You mean the one where a group of total bombshells decides to go spelunking in some hole they know they probably won't crawl out of, only to get hunted by monsters that evolved to digest rock alongside human flesh..?
Nah, haven't seen it.
But based on that intro, sounds... super promising. 🙂
David Price5 said:Japanese just isn't my thing... I'm more into this Also Known As: Dark Water (United Kingdom) (United States) From the Depths of Dark Water (International: English title) (literal title)
Yeah, and honestly, the American remake is actually pretty good (weirdly enough) 🙂
wearygardener13 said:I feel like you only watch the garbage Hollywood tries to pass off as horror, which is probably why you're trashing the whole damn genre. 🤮
Yeah, compared to those heavy-hitting, high-quality Swedish horror flicks... what are we even looking at here? 🙂
David Price5 said:And the original is called Dark Water. What was actually "art" about it? How was it even different from those typical jump-scare flicks like The Ring or Grugde?
Actually, the original title is "Honogurai mizu no soko kara"... I don't see the words "dark" or "water" in that phrase at all🙂 ...
Anyway...
I liked the movie because it builds dread purely through atmosphere. It doesn't rely on those stupid, cheap jump scares, which feels way more grounded. Plus, the whole thing is basically just an allegory for all the messiness of dysfunctional families.
The Ring is just a jump-scare fest. Grugde is just a jump-scare fest. ... 🙂
Whatever, I guess I'll just wait until you guys grow up... 🙂
The only horror movie that actually works for me is the original Dark Water (I don't even know what the original Japanese version is called, and honestly, I don't care to find out). It isn't even a "true" horror flick; it’s more like this weird, beautiful blend of art and psychological thriller.
Slashers aren't even real movies, man. They're basically on the same level as porn. 🤣 You just engage 10 teenagers and one beefy dude with an axe who proceeds to tear them apart, and that's it... 90 minutes of pure absurdity. 🙂

And don't go forgetting about the legendary, crusty old martial arts master, Splinter! 😬

🤣 🤣
So you actually thought this was the right place to go looking for trolls?
I wasn't even freaking trolling, I was just asking "what the hell is Mance?" because, honestly, besides sounding like some lazy guy hanging out at a local diner with a cheap coffee and a cigarette, I have zero clue who that is. 😬
I mean, come on. You’d expect one of the most powerful members of the Council to go out in a blaze of glory, not just die some random, pathetic way—like getting taken out by a stray blaster bolt from some random stormtrooper... 🙂
