Question about Skoda in Feedback & Suggestions ·
Honestly, this whole horoscope thread is just pointless—it’s the same repetitive nonsense over and over again. Plus, much like those old school assignment threads, it doesn't even really fit the vibe of the US forum. I actually wanted to kick off a real discussion about making some changes, especially since topics like the old PIs and that whole "not applicable" situation have completely vanished.
But hey, since everyone decided to label my post as just me trolling, I'm officially done trying to think about how to improve the US.

Thanks for all the input, everyone—really appreciate it. Could someone please drop the key? 😁
Question about Skoda in Feedback & Suggestions ·
Anyway, I’d probably just set a timer on my phone—you know, let fate take the wheel for a bit—to make sure I don't lose track of things.
Question about Skoda in Feedback & Suggestions ·
I also have this idea—just a thought, really—that we should totally link the US section to the main lounge as a subforum.
Question about Skoda in Feedback & Suggestions ·
What’s even the point of this horror cop thread?
I mean, there’s an entire subforum dedicated to that stuff—and honestly, the people posting over there rarely ever show up anywhere else on the site.
Do you respect the power users here? in Miscellaneous ·
Why would it be bitter?
Honestly, you just grow with every post—you actually get wiser.
It’s pretty simple, really—just try hitting 1,000 posts under a single username and I guarantee you'll start feeling a bit more enlightened.

Once you cross that 10,000 mark, though... that’s when the decline starts. 😬
When is "being polite" just too much? in Psychology ·
Just because one person took a swing at you doesn't mean everyone else is out to get you.

Look, being kind—actually being decent—is just how you communicate when you're working in service industries where you're dealing with people all day. If someone hates that kind of attitude, honestly? That’s their own baggage to deal with. This whole trend of people getting all aggressive and short-tempered in customer service... it's like a cancer, really. It just drags everyone else down into that negative hole with them, even the folks who thought they had a handle on things.

I'm really feeling what Paper is saying here.
Have you ever actually tried walking a mile in your parents' shoes? Seriously—before you get worked up over their rigid views, try to see things from where they're standing. I know, I know, it leads to blowups. To them, any move you make feels like you're abandoning their kid to whatever fate comes its way. Look, it’s not like you *have* to obey every single command—you have every right to make your own calls, even if that means telling the whole family to back off—but before you go scorched earth, just... try to step into their perspective first.
If they’ve decided your brother needs to stay put with them, well, obviously that’s what they want. And honestly? When all is said and done, every parent just wants what's best for their kids. It's how they're wired.

Objectively speaking, the truth is they're putting way too much on your shoulders just because you're blood—because you're brothers. Their perspective is narrow; they're looking at everything through this intense emotional lens. That's their baggage, not yours, so don't fall for any emotional blackmail along those lines. You're your own person, responsible for your own choices and the consequences that come with them. And please, spare me the lectures on "how you were raised"—I've learned the hard way that criticism isn't some magic tool for getting better results. Instead of fighting, try to outgrow them by understanding where they're coming from. Open up a dialogue about *yourself*—not about your brother. Talk about your vision for your future and ask them straight up: do they really want you to be a hostage to this sense of brotherhood? Do they truly want you to live an unhappy life just because they think that's how it should be?

The trick to the conversation is keeping the focus on YOU—your happiness and your future (use that to corner them, if you have to). Avoid talking about your brother or their relationship with him; whenever they bring him up, pivot the conversation right back to your own life.
That is way beyond $33. Honestly, that’s just too much for someone you barely even know—like, if we're talking about a brand new relationship? If a gift hits that number right out of the gate, I’m out the door!
Emily Garcia3 said:perfume from $33? 🤔

Wait, so you actually want him walking around smelling like some cheap drugstore scent?

It’s handmade! Honestly, what’s wrong with a gift like that? Does he really need her to go out and buy something else when she can just make it herself?
Matthew Anderson said:A Jack Hammer is fine—it’s cheap, easy, and honestly, he’ll be stoked about it.

I mean, since they're basically just learning how to use their hands at this stage, maybe a little five-minute "gift" would work?

But looking ahead a year down the road—pairing a massage with what you suggested is actually a solid move. It makes a guy think you've got some experience under your belt, and let's be real, plenty of guys wouldn't want to be with someone who isn't quite sure of themselves when they're out walking through the neighborhood together hand-in-hand.
Who exactly is coming for Barrett?

The man is a legend. 😁

I’m actually hanging on his every word—it’s like he’s speaking pure Jungian synchronicity here.

--

Personally, I think it’s totally fine if the random trolls and the occasional loudmouth have a corner where they can just hang out, talk trash, and roast every public figure under the sun.
I mean, why even bother trying to have a serious debate in a place like this? 😕

You can't exactly enforce one single set of rules across an entire forum. For instance, over on a psychology subreddit, they’d never let you mock someone for having a mental health struggle, but then you flip over to some other board and people are just laughing their heads off at some clearly unhinged person and their posts.

Look, I’ve got my own long-standing vendetta against certain singers and everything they stand for. And honestly? There are mods out there who think exactly like you do.

I’d honestly love to just hand you a massive red card right now for messing with the users and all those mods.
Why is it so hard for some people to fall in love? in Spirituality ·
Sam Wright21 said:It’s entirely possible for that initial rush of infatuation to mature into genuine love. In fact, that transition is really the whole point, isn't it? To me, infatuation always feels somewhat inferior—it’s an unsettled, restless sensation that I find quite uncomfortable, actually.

Wait, why does it feel uncomfortable for you? Is it just that feeling of losing control over everything?

Have any mods ever actually admitted and fixed a mistake? in Feedback & Suggestions ·
Man, even five—it’s like how kids in my neighborhood can smooth over a misunderstanding in seconds. That's why I just leave a comment; having this topic front and center on my Tapatalk app while I'm active saves me from scrolling through the morning paper—you know, that pile of daily garbage journalists always dig up just to fill space. This forum actually makes me laugh. 🙂

Looks like I actually owe you an apology. My bad.

It really bugs me that I don't have a legit badge from you lot of moderator woodblocks. When you see a chance, you just go for it without any mercy.

So, I guess there are still cases like Herb and me where the bans get pulled back.

So, that’s all I have to say about the apologies.

--

But anyway—dropping the jokes for a second—I’ve noticed something during my time hanging out here. It seems like when the women on this forum get a shot at moderating, they somehow shift their whole online persona for the worse, whereas the guys stay pretty much the same once they get those mod powers. Why is that? Am I just seeing things, or is there actually something to this?

Dealing with smear campaigns in Psychology ·
Look, sister, people who lack empathy are actually pros at hiding it—sometimes they don't even realize they're doing it themselves.

At the same time, you can easily point a finger at someone else because of how they act—you know, all that constant belittling, sarcasm, or biting irony—when, in reality, the person at the center of it all is just an empath who’s wrapped themselves up in that defensive shell for various life reasons.

The truth is, only a tiny fraction of people are truly, fundamentally devoid of compassion.
Self-Sacrifice in Psychology ·
I honestly feel like that kind of selflessness—the way you’re describing it—is just hardwired into our DNA when it comes to our kids. It's that instinctual drive. And when it comes to parents, they tend to age a little slower because they've got that purpose, you know? But then there's this whole other side to it... modern American society puts so much pressure on us to raise our children to be "conformists"—to make sure they blend in perfectly and build lives that fit right into the mold of the environment we live in. It often feels like there's this constant push against any perceived "selfishness," where kids are basically coached to share or help out, almost on command from their parents, just to satisfy those social expectations.
