Sophia Evans76 said:Your dad sounds pretty uneducated—maybe he barely finished second grade?—if he’s actually linking vegetarianism to terrorism... 🙄 I mean, what kind of bubble does he live in to mix up two totally different things like that?
My dad links religion to terrorism... honestly, I think he's way closer to the truth than your dad is...
When I quit meat at sixteen... my dad was my biggest supporter! 👍
Whenever everyone else—family, friends—would judge me... my dad would just tell them they didn't get it. He'd say, "My daughter is ahead of her time!" 👍 🙂
Dad still eats meat, obviously... 😁 but he's not a total carnivore like Mom... 😲 Mom could basically live on steak alone... 😲 but even she loved making veggie meals and soy burgers for me... she never once tried to talk me out of being a vegetarian...
Come on now, let's not get personal! My dad's a college grad. He probably doesn't mean the terrorism thing seriously... though it is one of his favorite topics...
I wish I had parents like yours... seriously! When I stayed with my grandma, she never made a single meal without meat. She wouldn't make anything meat-free for me, even though she cooked separate meals for my two stepbrothers every single day. Can you believe the injustice?! 🙂
amigos said:Just find a new doctor! Seriously, this one sounds clueless—he should know better. If you eat fish, just make sure you're eating enough of it! Take my advice, haha, stay strong!
I'm sticking with my doctor, though. He always writes me those prescriptions... he he... 😈 🙂
Michael Perez5 said:Hey there... you're a total terrorist 🙂 and I'll just have to introduce you to my buddy Rewenger4u 😉
Just shoot me a PM
What is everyone talking about with this Rewenger guy? Is he some kind of manic meat-eater or something? Now I'm just confused...😕 😕
So, I went to the doctor today and asked if cutting out meat is actually bad for me. He said it's super harmful. Damn! He told me I need to eat it at least once a week...
That's what happens when your tastes and beliefs don't match the crowd, right?
Knowing how stubborn I can be, there's no way I'm giving in... my views are mine, and I expect people to respect that! I am so over the daily brainwashing about how I'll get sick and die within 24 hours if I don't eat a little steak... It's probably just because people here aren't used to this kind of diet, so they automatically see it as something wrong or totally crazy.
🙂

Yeah, good luck explaining that one to my old man! 😁 😉
I’m actually feeling a bit more optimistic after all this. There are some pretty solid tips in here...
Now I just need my friends to stop hunting me down through my apartment with horseradish and quit planning to sneak up on me just to smear pâté all over my face! 😁
darkbison81 said:1. fish is an animal 😉 its meat is meat; let's be consistent here.
I totally get that, but if I actually stopped eating fish, I think I'd have a total meltdown! Plus, it's just so delicious. Seriously. And honestly? I feel so blue whenever I try to cut back on things like pâté, deli meats, or steak.
Thanks for the advice, though!
🙂
I watched a movie yesterday.
THE MOVIE WAS PERFECT!!!! And don't even get me started on Johnny Depp... he is just insanely hot!!!!!!!! Oh my god, seriously. Everything was perfect. Gorgeous. Amazing. Just wonderful. Everyone needs to get to the theater right now for Pirates of the Caribbean!!!
Yeah. I'm still kind of reeling from it, so I can barely even find the words. 😁
So, I haven't eaten meat in about 10 months now—though I was actually phasing it out way before that. My dad, who’s usually pretty chill but can be a bit much, totally took this as some weird phase and stopped making meat dishes altogether, which was fine by me! I even told him, "Hey, go ahead and cook meat if you want, I'll just whip up some tofu or grab something else," 😁 but lately, he's been going full drama queen. He's actually calling me a terrorist and saying he needs to take me to a therapist! I keep trying to point out that my vegetarian coworkers are perfectly healthy and sane, but he won't hear it. He's dead set on the idea that I'm going to literally turn into a carrot or, god forbid, a head of broccoli one day.
How am I supposed to make him understand that some people just care about animals? Or that there are plenty of meat substitutes out there (I still eat fish, for Pete's sake!) and that meat just doesn't taste good to me, even if I grew up in an American household where meat was everything?
HELP ME!!!!!
Manowar was my absolute first love!
Following him down that rabbit hole led me straight to other smooth artists—think Bob Marley and all that great reggae—but then, through a slightly less pretty path, I ended up stumbling right into punk!
I actually saw the teaser on CNN back like two months ago, and let me tell you, what triggered my sudden salivary gland overload and made me want to sprint to the next state over was Johnny Depp with dreadlocks!!!! Who?! Orlando Bloom?! Please, he isn't even half as talented as Depp's dirty toenails! 😁
When are more pirates finally gonna sail our way??!!!
rock: The Doors
metal: Moonspell, obviously
punk: Dead Kennedys, The Clash, Adverts... honestly, who can even keep track?
ska: Mad Caddies, Bad Manners, King Prawn, Let's Quit, D Sailors... man, there's just way too much good stuff out there!
reggae: Not even a question! Bob Marley, Peter Tosh, Dry & Heavy, Jimmy Cliff... you know the drill
rap: Public Enemy, Afrika Bambaataa
country: Johnny Cash, Dolly Parton...😁 😁 😁
Oh my god, what are you guys even fighting about? Seriously? What are your arguments even based on?
You guys are being so basic. Punk isn't just Exploited and Discharge, and not every girl in a punk band looks like she stepped straight out of 1976. :rolleyes
Seriously, though.
🙂
Has anyone ever heard of Melkor? I’ve heard from the real experts that they are absolutely killer. But since there isn't anything recorded yet, you'll just have to be patient... who knows, maybe we'll catch some random garage band at Coachella instead!😛
I'm not really a metalhead.
But I could always get into some goth music! 🙂
Ethan Perez97 said:Biafra is just being too much. Let’s be real, we all know the guy has zero singing talent.
Just a quick correction: Biafra actually can sing! His style is definitely unique, which is honestly a good thing. If you're not feeling it, that's on you.
As for the lawsuits? I don't think things should have even gotten this far. Honestly, aren't the Dead Kennedys being total fools by even doing this?
Microphonia, the chunky president, Bambi Molesters, Radical Dub Collective, Analena, and of course, the one and only, Azra. 🙏
I bet I missed a few more... 😵
Alex Martinez4 says:>
Man, I just think there were some biases involved here... in that post about metal... he simply doesn't like it...
That was basically me yesterday (aka Saturday night!) ending up at a local dive bar where I got a taste of live death metal. Now I know for sure—it is definitely NOT for me and my poor ears that are used to happy little ska tunes! How do people even enjoy that? Total nightmare...
"So, what kind of music are you into?" It’s always one of those first things people ask when they're meeting someone new. A friend of mine actually claims that our taste in music defines our whole personality, but I honestly don't buy it! Sure, it can give you a little hint, but isn't it a bit much to judge someone just by their playlist? I used to get so disappointed when I realized someone I liked had terrible taste... talk about a letdown! Plus, I feel like that matters way more when you're a teenager. Once you grow up, music just isn't the main thing shaping who you are anymore, right?
I don't know... what do you guys think? Leave a comment if you have thoughts!
The Roots are seriously one of my absolute favorite bands ever! 😁 It’s such a bummer that it took seeing them live for me to finally fall in love with their sound... 😠I wouldn't recommend Facts & Fictions because it feels way too repetitive, almost like listening to techno 👎. As for R.A.F.'s Revenge-->>🙏 🙏, Community Music only gets one vote from me 🙏 since it's just a tiny bit more nuanced than R.A.F.'s work. I haven't checked out enemy of The enemy yet, but man, I really hope to hear it soon! 🙂
Man, that actually gave me a good laugh. I just don't get those music snobs, you know? Like, they suddenly have to be experts on every band's origin story, who influenced them, their exact genre... and then all that other stuff listed here.
