So, the doctor—an orthopedic specialist—basically told me that right after this cast comes off, my elbow is gonna be super stiff. I won't see any (almost) full range of motion until I put in at least 4 weeks of solid rehab.
Chris Wells55 said:So, I definitely trashed my shoulder. It’s been two days now and it hurts like crazy whenever I try to move my arm, so I really need to see a doctor. The issue is, I have zero clue where to go. I'm currently in Washington, D.C., but if I were back home, I'd just go to my regular GP. Since I'm out here in the Monarchy area, can anyone recommend a good spot for this? Honestly, I'm lost on what to do—I've never actually had to deal with doctors before lol. Thanks!
Just head over to the Mayo Clinic, maybe look for Salad 6-7.
David White8 said:Yeah, you're right, I just read that myself... and now my hand is feeling all swollen, so I'm lowkey freaking out about what that actually means.
Nateena, that swelling is just what happens after a fracture. You'll probably be stuck in a cast for 4 to 6 weeks. The pain will die down soon.
Dude, you didn't just sprain your wrist, you straight up broke it. You've got a distal radius fracture with displacement—seriously, go re-read your diagnosis so you don't mistake it for some basic fracture.
So, which bone did you break? How long ago did it happen? Can you tell if it's actually healed up yet? You definitely gotta head back for that follow-up appointment so they can finally get that cast off you...
The symptoms you're describing sound like classic signs of a radial nerve injury or some kind of nerve compression. It’s usually nothing permanent, though—it often pops up when someone deals with a humerus fracture.

It didn't even hurt right when it happened—no swelling, nothing. But three hours later? Total nightmare. The pain kicked in and it started swelling up like crazy. Honestly, it was brutal, I was literally screaming. My first doctor told me it was nothing and just threw a splint on me. Then, seven days later, I went back to get the splint off and my arm looked awful... just blue and yellow everywhere. This second doctor finally realized I actually broke the bone and put me in a cast for five more weeks. The weird part? I didn't even feel much pain during that time. After those five weeks, I had another checkup and they stuck me in a cast for *another* four weeks. That was the worst part because I had all these sports plans lined up. Eventually, the doctor took the cast off and told me to just wear a compression wrap, use some specific gel, and hit up physical therapy. I did PT for seven days, then saw the surgeon again, who sent me back to PT before seeing him one last time in six weeks. Once I finished the exercises, the therapist said I was good to go. I have to see the surgeon tomorrow, so fingers crossed everything goes smoothly. He already dropped the bomb that I can never play volleyball again, which seriously sucked to hear. He also said to stop all physical activity with my arm, but honestly, I’ve been playing basketball every single day lately and it hasn't hurt at all. I think I finally got full sensation back in my arm about a week ago. So yeah, that's the saga. Just hoping for good news from the surgeon tomorrow. 🙂
Kenneth Alvarez98 said:I’ve also got a fracture in my fifth metacarpal. I actually waited about a week before heading to the ER after the injury happened. Do you think I’m going to run into any issues because I dragged my feet on getting an X-ray and starting treatment? It doesn't look too gnarly and it isn't really hurting much—it just feels more like a hairline crack rather than a full-on break...

So, two days ago while I was out running along the riverwalk, I messed up my left foot. Didn't feel much when I got home, but after like 3 or 4 hours—once things cooled down—it started hurting pretty bad... It only hurts when I'm standing or walking. I can move it around in all directions without any pain. And then this morning, some redness popped up right where it hurts.
Kate Roberts10 said:About ten days ago, I smashed my pinky toe against the edge of my bed frame. It went totally sideways and man, it hurt like crazy. The whole front of my foot turned black and blue, super bruised. Went to get an X-ray and they said nothing was broken, but the toe still hurts like hell—especially when I move it to the side. Even the area on the outside of the little toe is aching; honestly, the pain feels worse now than right after it happened. I’m just resting, wearing an ACE bandage, and staying out of tight shoes. I have no clue what I actually messed up or how long this is gonna drag on. Any tips on how to speed up the healing??
Honestly, sounds like a fracture to me. You should probably go back and get another X-ray. That pinky bone is tiny and snaps way easier than you'd think, and those symptoms sound exactly like a break.
Melissa Barrett54 said:So, I'm gonna try to breathe some life back into this thread. Back on November 5th, 2010, I had surgery on my Clavicula (it snapped in a car accident). For the most part, everything's going fine. They fixed the bone using a plate and 6 screws. In about 4 months, I'm supposed to check in with my doctor to talk about getting them removed. What I'm wondering is, do I *have* to get them out just because he says so, or can I decide for myself whenever I feel ready?
You get them pulled when it's necessary, and honestly, your doctor knows best...
