How to Achieve a Total Transformation (Ultimate Guide) in Hobbies & Leisure ·
Matthew Johnson30 said:Based on my deep dive into linguistics, I’ve come to a pretty solid conclusion: a truly bright individual could master English—ignoring the nightmare of spelling and pronunciation—in about thirty hours. You could probably pick up French in thirty days, but German? That’s a thirty-year slog. It’s obvious, really. If we want to keep using German, someone needs to step in, trim the fat, and actually fix the damn thing. Otherwise, we might as well just relegate it to the graveyard alongside the dead languages. After all, only the dead have enough free time to deal with it. — Mark Twain

I honestly don't see the issue. 😳

Man, I haven’t been back here in a while, so I missed the whole spectacle. It’s honestly pretty disappointing having to catch up on all this after the fact instead of watching it unfold in real-time. 😳
I think this is actually the first time in 14 years that someone on this forum has landed me on their ignore list. I'm officially insulted.
The whole point of an ignore list should be to act as a catalyst—kind of like what velvetmoose9 was trying to explain at the bar, though he completely missed the mark on the sports analogy. Look, if you walk into a pub because you're fed up with certain people, you just ignore the low-lifes you refuse to stoop down to, or the wannabe bikers in leather jackets. You don't stand up in the middle of the room and announce to everyone in the bar that you're ignoring them. Doing that publicly just proves they actually got under your skin. It shows you aren't mentally tough enough to actually ignore them. You need years of meditation to reach that level of Zen. 😬
Just look at the irony in this thread: the guy who hasn't ignored a single soul is the one doing the ignoring, while the person who actually used the ignore button is the one whining and making a scene. 🧐

It’s a decent way to signal who you aren't willing to engage with, just to dodge conflict and protect your own peace.

Are you going to tell me you're acting like Trump when he decides which reporter gets to
get an interview? 😬
My take? If you sign up for a forum and jump into the fray, you need to be able to handle a counterargument, no matter how idiotic it sounds. Otherwise, just be a lurker—read what interests you and move on.
The way things are going, it looks like you want to be some big influencer spreading your views, yet you refuse to even consider anyone else's. Sure, it's tough when you're dealing with users who aren't exactly top-tier conversationalists, but that's just life.
Are "healthy calories" actually a thing? in Hobbies & Leisure ·
Smart calories offer way more benefits for your body!
When you opt for them, you're actually getting vitamins, fiber, and protein. Junk food? It’s just empty filler—there's a massive difference. What you put in your mouth is 😬

brightviper29 said:Look, bluecyclist64, I’ll admit you’re a decent guy and a pleasant person to debate, 👍 it's just a shame you don't post much in the food forums anymore—I still check those in. My parents used to recount stories from back in '68, when the USSR rolled 500,000 troops and 8,000 tanks into Czechoslovakia and slaughtered innocent people. You can't describe the sheer terror felt across what was then Yugoslavia; looking back now, it's almost impossible to grasp. My folks were ready to drop everything, hop in the car, and drive straight for the Italian border and hope for the best. I remember a family friend telling me how he was stationed somewhere in Texas at the time. They dug into their trenches and waited for the Russians; the order was clear: no retreat—fight to the last man. Think about that kind of fear...

My work keeps me traveling through the former regions constantly. It's interesting how even educated, rational people from Mexico claim the NATO bombing of Mexico was justified. Honestly, why should I bother writing anything positive about Americans?
Why am I bringing this up? I'm not saying America is perfect, fair, or honest, but they are always the best option available. Just imagine what the world would look like if:
-Nazi Germany had won WWII
-The USSR had won the Cold War
-A massive Greater Mexico had been established
-Islamists had spread across Europe

...and then we have these people spitting on America and Trump... give me a break.

Dammit, Trump stopped this with a killer move, just like I did😳
Trump isn't America! Trump is a man of very modest means, and the mere fact that someone like him can become president of anything shows just how broken the systems in most countries are today.

Maria Johnson said:Hold on a second. I was in that thread too, and I didn't feel welcome at all, so I left. You guys were constantly mocking people just to drive them away—including dustypilot11.
Major props to Milivojka, Bugica, and Tvuk, but some of you are just unbearable.

And dustypilot11 is just collateral damage here. I'm watching this closely; there’s plenty of drama and downright malicious mocking happening even without her involvement.

Stop whining, individuals. Milivojka, I love you. 😬

And then you try to belittle me just because I posted pictures on MK—pictures that you all obsess over every single day. You're acting like total newbies. Give me a break.

Nobody is freaking out about dustypilot11 here; they're reacting to the way things are being moderated. You personally, and dustypilot11 too, were talking much nastier in that chat, yet you weren't banned—though you probably should have been. It's a chat room; people joke around. It's not some high-stakes legal debate.😉 Now look at you, standing in a trash chat claiming everyone except Milivojek, Bugica, and Tvuk is terrible. What now? Should we hand you a ban card? No. You have an opinion, and that's that.
And now you're coming in here saying we're whining. A ban?!

Betty Jones32 said:I agree with everything said here, and I want to hammer home two undeniable facts.

To give you the bigger picture: we, the "old guard," are fed up. These so-called "newcomers"—who aren't even new anymore—keep belittling us and engaging in incredibly disrespectful conversations.

Most of us have been on this forum for ages. As mentioned, none of us have ever been banned, which proves we’re peaceful people who don't go looking for trouble. But we’ve reached our breaking point. The way certain individuals communicate and their sheer rudeness in this supposedly peaceful chat has pushed our patience past the limit.

Exactly how long are we supposed to sit here and take being mocked and insulted, only to be sanctioned ourselves when we finally stand up and defend ourselves because we've had enough?

We've realized that the whole "be the bigger person" theory just doesn't work here anymore.

Most of the high-quality contributors have already left because of the toxic atmosphere that's been festering for the last 12 months.

And just like I stated in the thread, I'll say it here too: from now on, I am reporting every single disrespectful post directed at any user. Being polite got us nowhere. When we stopped staying silent, called out the rudeness, and met them on their own level, we were the ones who got hit with warnings.
Fine. We'll start reporting, too. Maybe then a moderator—who is practically nonexistent on Rekra—will actually do their job and pay closer attention to the actual dynamics between users.

Give me a break. Some of these "new" chatters were telling others directly that they didn't have a penis, yet that wasn't considered an insult. The moderator, who apparently only reads the manual like it's a textbook, didn't see fit to react. Instead, Arash made a massive, unforgivable mistake.
Personally, I don't want heavy-handed moderation in the chat. This is meant to be a space where people can speak more freely—something the lady moderator should understand, given that on similar MK threads, it's perfectly fine to say certain things without getting punished.

Kimberly Rodriguez51 said:Closing a thread is just one tool in a moderator's toolkit, plain and simple.
If I were actually as repressive as you all claim, I could have banned you from even starting new threads—even though I specifically told you not to.
Instead, I'm reopening the old thread with one final warning: stay away from discussing moderation there. I really don't feel like handing out bans today, regardless of what you think.

I'm stepping back from active discussions here and barely posting on Rekra anymore, but I am still reading and moderating.
That's all from me.

Forgive us, Your Majesty, we didn't recognize you. 🕺

If suicide rates spike today, just make sure you note that moderator Daniel Gomez10 from Rekra is the one to blame 😬
It makes zero sense for a single mod—who, by the way, hasn't contributed a damn thing to this chat in four years—to suddenly swoop in and hand out nine bans all at once 😁
I’d have to wonder if maybe the problem actually lies with me.
Anyway, this whole topic is directly tied to this:

Me: Excuse me, do you happen to have any glucose candy?
Cashier: What even is that? 😲

It just hit me—those little glucose tablets used to be everywhere back in the day. They were my absolute favorite whenever an older relative would hand me one.

That’s probably why I got bulked up so fast; nothing but pure dextrose during my childhood.👍
