Login issues in Forum Help! ·
rustyseal8 said:Hey there,

I'm having trouble logging into the forum. When I enter my username and password, I get a "welcome" message saying I logged in successfully. Then the browser redirects me back to the main page, but the problem is everything looks like I'm still logged out. The login fields are empty and there's a note at the bottom saying I can't do anything because I'm supposedly not logged in, even though the login process seemed fine... 🤷

This happens quite often, so I have to try several times before I finally get in. Please help...

It happens to me about ten times a day, and at least once daily, I run into this exact issue.
Ever since the last major site maintenance.
Sometimes I'll be right in the middle of sending a post—something I spent a couple of minutes writing—and it won't send because it thinks I'm not logged in.

Definitely worth bringing in ☕.
I don't know about you guys.
Time feels like it's moving at the exact same pace for me.
Looking back, I think it felt faster before I hit thirty—though maybe that’s just because I can't quite remember half of what happened back then due to too many drinks 🤣).

rustydrifter10 said:Honestly, regardless of which subforum you're on, you can have those talks if you're dealing with a decent interlocutor. If you're talking to someone who’s just going to take shots at you because you're a woman, a leftist, a blonde, or religious... well, there's really no point in even trying to argue with them, is there?

And please don't try telling me that I can find this kind of thing on other boards, because even a superficial glance at, say, Politics, Religion, or the Women's Corner is enough to prove me wrong.

But look, anyone can jump into discussions about politics or religion on the politics and religion boards.
And on MK and the Women's Corner, people can talk about pretty much anything they want.

Of course, everyone still needs to play by the rules.

The arguments that get thrown around constantly on those specific boards—stuff like "you're a man/woman," "you're a leftist/rightist," "you're Christian/Muslim/Jewish," or "you're a Mexican/American/Uzbek"—are, if you'll excuse my language, incredibly obnoxious, totally invalid, and just plain exhausting.

And why on earth would you even want to engage with people who use those kinds of things as their primary arguments? It doesn't matter what subforum it is. On the Women's Corner, you've got singles; over on the US board, it's people who are married; and on the Lifestyle board, it's... well, we all know who that is. 😬
If they're a good conversationalist, they won't throw those cheap shots at you. And if they do, you just ignore them.

No, you really can't.
Because they’ll label you immediately. Exactly like what was described above.

I'm all for it.
Though it wouldn't matter anyway because it's definitely not happening here.
And it's not just because there aren't enough potential debaters; it's because of the mods. They're basically the type of people who, according to the rules, shouldn't even be allowed near a subforum, let alone be chosen to moderate one decently 🤣.
For instance, a moderator on the religion board could literally have a signature that mocks one of the major faiths ☕.
Where did the search bar go? in Feedback & Suggestions ·
dustypuma5 said:Until the forum search finally starts working again, just use Google to find stuff here.

Basically, you can tell Google to only look at one specific domain. Since Reddit is indexed pretty well, the results shouldn't be much different from using our own search tool anyway.

To search only this site via Google, just do this:

Type whatever you're looking for into Google, then add site:http://www.reddit.com

So, if we're trying to find hollowtrucker77 (not an insult or anything, I guess 😁):

hollowtrucker77 site:http://www.reddit.com and you'll get these results:

Searching...

There. No need to keep hitting the refresh button on the search bar. 😁

You can even just type "site:reddit.com".

Please include gender in every post in Feedback & Suggestions ·
It’s a pretty weak idea.
If I’m interested, I’ll look into it.
Otherwise, I don't really need anything ☕.
When someone uses the wrong gendered language with me, I'll correct them. It's not like it happens often—maybe three or four times every couple of years. 🤷
Why is your check engine light on (or off)? in Feedback & Suggestions ·
Drew Scott said:What does it matter if your status light is on or off? You can still read everyone else's posts regardless. You can't see what they're reading, but what they write doesn't change whether their profile is hidden or not.
There’s definitely some truth to that.

Actually, you can. I just checked your status right now:
"last activity at: today 2:53 PM Current Activity
Current Activity: Reading the thread Skyscrapers being destroyed by fire, says: Human90".

But honestly, my light stays on because:

1) I don't have any reason to turn it off (I'm not hiding what I read, I'm just hiding the fact that I'm on the forum...)

2) I try to lead by example (I like knowing if people are active on the threads I visit—it helps me decide if I should jump in and post or not).
Quick question in Feedback & Suggestions ·
Oh please, as if expressing an opinion here is automatically considered spamming, picking a fight, or being a provocateur.

Look, I’m not fifteen—and that doesn't mean you are either—so we shouldn't have to go hunting for a niche group just to validate our weird thoughts or habits. If we did that, wouldn't it prove we aren't actually that weird?
Instead, when we see something bizarre, we just call it out for being bizarre.

What I’m genuinely curious about is the mindset of those moms (and no, this isn't about baking 😬) who insist on giving babies nothing but bottled water starting from day one.
Is it "spamming" or "starting drama" if I jump in there and ask: good grief, ladies, why on earth do you think that's healthier than just using tap water?
Or how about asking the women who swap out pads and tampons for those reusable cloth versions that sit soaking in a jar in the bathroom for five days before they even wash them... why? Doesn't having that sitting in your house all week gross you out?

At the end of the day, this is Reddit—it's supposed to be a place for exchanging ideas.🤷

But here, every sub-forum acts like a total cult. If you don't fall in line, they come for you with everything they've got.
Then the mods turn on you, and suddenly you're persona non grata anywhere where "your people" hang out.

EDIT:
That wasn't the accusation this time.
The attack on the thread happened last time regarding the Fitness section, but since it seemed to be bothering people, I figured I'd try to explain myself.
Quick question in Feedback & Suggestions ·
shadowseal12 said:Can someone catch me up on what's actually going on with this thread and you guys? From what I can gather, you all had a dedicated spot to coordinate making clones just to mess with people, right? Am I on the right track, or am I totally missing the point?

So, I think I finally figured out that you're actually pretty interested in this whole "organized criminal syndicate dedicated to bombing other people's topics" thing, right?
Because that’s exactly how things should work—you have to hold people accountable.

I'm not really a fan of zidić—just an admirer, really—and I’m posting here on a chat that's just like how things used to be on Off.
I won't point fingers directly at them, but any story about my son is really a story about them, too.

Here’s an example (That’s not how it actually happened; this is just a paradigm.):
If someone drops a link like that in my chat... post Where do women mostly go to leave supportive comments for moms trying to feed their kids "healthy," rambling on about potential allergies and possible toxins? Honestly, there's no point even reading those threads—they're way too biased.
Reading this makes me want to ask, "WTF is going on in your heads?" Did hormones just wipe your brains clean? Seriously, what are you even feeding your kids? You’re handing out calorie bombs to adults who are already facing health issues, yet you expect a healthy toddler to be okay with eating a tiny slice of cornmeal cake?
Then you see your computer finally hit "post," and you realize all those users who spend their entire lives hanging around this Reddit thread have chimed in. You jump in too, just so they know there are actually other people out there who don't agree with them.
Then everything just devolves into those petty personal attacks—people asking who you think you are or why you even have the right to voice an opinion, usually because they claim you don't have kids or whatever. Anyway.
Then everything just goes off the rails—the mod steps in and starts handing out bans like candy.

And now:
The zidić crowd usually doesn't complain when they get handed a red card like this. They said what they wanted to say, so they got exactly what they deserved. 😬)
Honestly, the users and the mods on that subreddit don't trust them anymore. Once you realize everyone is just posting from the same Discord server, they look like an organized group that only showed up to start arguments.
The biggest crime here is that they’re actually using their own chat topic to talk about this "crusade"—which completely defeats the whole purpose of having a dedicated thread in the first place. 🤷And that’s how they "prove" it was all planned out.

You tell me:
Is it normal to feel that urge to jump into a discussion whenever you stumble upon an interesting topic, whether it's good news or bad?
Is it weird when you see your computer caught up in a debate like this, and you realize you actually agree with them—making you want to jump in just to show there are more people on that side?
Is it even normal to sit there on your laptop and argue about this in your own little chat room—basically your own personal digital living room?

To seems totally normal to me, but I guess to the mods, it’s just a "criminal conspiracy."

One of the worst things about people from this town is that they can spot trash from a mile away, yet they still cling to this sub-Reddit. There’s even an entire thread dedicated to "Reddit Trash," where people just dig up links to posts like this one about the cake.
Honestly, you need nerves of steel to even step foot in that thread without losing your mind over how everyone’s opinions constantly clash.

Like that thread about everyone being obsessed with Ivan Balić—but you know, from a non-fan perspective. 🤣Whether it's complaining about stiletto nails (seriously, who actually wears those?) or venting on X threads... honestly, you probably had the same impulses at some point.
The real question is how many people actually bother to control them, or how many are just too lazy (like me) to jump into the fray.
The zidić crowd loves to comment and dive into debates—the more intense, the better for them.
The rest of us (the quiet ones) just like to lurk because they usually say the stuff we don't have the guts to speak up about.

When they go overboard, they should get flagged—that’s literally what the mods are there for—but what’s happening right now is just ridiculous.
The fact that such a harmless group is being banned from having any chat OFF is enough to show just how much control the mods have lost.

EDIT: Here's another moderator absurdity: "We told you a thousand times not to do that." Since when does a mod, or whoever they are, get to tell a user what they can or can't do? Are there forum rules? Yes. Are there different colored warnings and various ban durations? Yes. So mods, just do your jobs, stop playing philosopher, and quit making up new rules. This whole persecution thing is just pathetic. ☕

EDIT: One more interesting thing. Every few months 😬, whenever I post something here on the zidić topics, it either gets deleted or I get a warning from the mods like, "Why do you care? Why are you interfering?" 🤷
Listen, in the Messages and Wishes subforum, comments, if those ego-driven people who think the moderation team is the absolute peak of human achievement wanted to ban me, they could. Enough is enough. They've played themselves. It's just like our government bureaucracy or those clerks at the DMV who intentionally make your life difficult just to remind you that you're there for their sake, not the other way around. Despite all logic, they succeed. Both the clerks and the moderators. 😂
1. Where do you live? (big city, small town, near or far from downtown?)
- 7.5 miles from Cleveland (pop. 150,000)

2. How do you get around for short trips (up to 5-3.7 miles miles), and what about longer ones? (bike, bus, car, light rail, train?)
- For short trips, within 5-3.7 miles miles of home—I drive
- To Cleveland, I take the bus because parking is such a nightmare

3. Have you noticed any differences in travel habits based on gender, age, or income? (e.g., do younger or wealthier people drive more for status, or do women avoid trains due to safety concerns?)
- There are definitely differences. On "my" bus, there are almost no men over 20 since they all drive, so it's mostly students and middle-aged women who are clearly on a tighter budget (wealthier folks always have their monthly garage pass paid for via 😬)

4. How happy are you with the bus lines regarding punctuality, schedules, routes, or comfort? Is there a quality gap between private long-distance carriers and local city transit?
- The main difference is just the comfort level. You see it between city transit (the worst buses), commuter lines (slightly better), and intercity coaches (actually decent buses)
- As for the commuter lines I use—they are punctual to the second

5. What would need to change in the public or private bus systems to make you use them more often?
- I already use the bus, but for everyone else... I’d say the biggest hurdle is just the habit. Everyone is so set on driving their own car to work every morning; that's the hardest thing to change (especially with men). People would probably ride a bus to the bathroom if they could! Price isn't the issue, since a parking permit costs way more than a monthly bus pass. I have colleagues who, if they don't have a company car, will call their wives to pick them up from the other side of town because they haven't stepped foot on a bus in 30 years, and for them, it's simply not an option.

Falling in love isn't some spiritual awakening; it’s just a chemical imbalance in your brain.
One side effect is that desperate urge to broadcast your "nuclear" romance to the entire world.
There's really no cure for it.

Unless you let time do its thing.

No, you simply can't pass up cinematic gems like this one. I find myself checking the TV listings almost "professionally," hunting for something that feels different—something that doesn't have that typical Hollywood formula.
And frankly, I don't regret paying for a subscription. One single masterpiece like this holds more value than an entire week of mindless programming on networks like ABC or NBC, which just feel overpriced and hollow.

Nescafé or Turkish coffee? in Miscellaneous ·
Turkey? Good grief, what a question 🙄. Besides that, there’s really only espresso. Anything else isn't even real coffee
.
You remind me of my grandma, who used to drink nothing but Knapp and chicory 🤣.

If people have a problem with the grounds in Turkish Coffee, they clearly don't know how to brew it. Once the coffee is done and you take it off the heat, just pour in a spoonful of cold water—or maybe some cold milk or cream if you prefer—and give it a quick stir on top. All the grounds will sink right to the bottom. You pour it into your cup, and the sludge stays at the bottom of the pot 🤷.
