It honestly irritates me—the whole world is struggling because people can't just coexist normally, so now they're forcing diversity everywhere, whether it's necessary or not... it’s genuinely nauseating. I am just waiting for this phase to pass...
Fine, let them be in more shows or movies or whatever, but stop forcing it. Like, you have a film set in 18th or 19th century America, and suddenly you have Black characters playing kings and whatnot... I can't recall the title of the movie, but it was set maybe 100 or 200 years ago, and Black actors were basically just walking through the background for a split second... Honestly, if I were Black, I would be embarrassed by what they're doing... I don't know which is worse—seeing a Black king in historical America, or having someone walk across the screen for a second just to show they have darker skin. 🙂
She sings well enough and doesn't look bad, but in my opinion, they should have cast a white actress since that's how the original character looks... maybe Ursula or someone else could have had darker skin. Anyone can sing, though—does the lead actress really need to be the next Adele?🤔
It’s an okay movie, though the plot feels a bit thin. The concept itself isn't bad... But then there's this whole romance subplot—it's just too much. The constant stream of his internal monologue is irritating—if those thoughts were more sparse or quieter, they actually would have carried some weight. As it stands, it's excessive—you can barely tell where the dialogue ends and the thoughts begin. 🙂
I honestly feel like Cruella should be older but that's just how Hollywood works🤷
She’s a fantastic actress—and I’ll probably end up seeing it—but she looks far too young she's thirty years old and clearly using Botox to try and pass for twenty-two
Those wide-set eyes are just creepy to me... like some kind of alien.
I'm going to head out soon... I simply don't care for this forced diversity—it feels unnatural. It implies there’s a fundamental issue that can't be fixed through merit, suggesting we're so pathetic that we need mandatory quotas to succeed. Take those massive corporations that have to ensure 20 percent of their board is female—I believe in hiring the absolute best talent for the job, period. Don't get me wrong, I'm all for women's rights and equal pay; women shouldn't earn less than men... but forcing a 20 percent quota onto corporate boards isn't the answer. That kind of coercion just screams that we are too weak to make it on our own without being shoved into positions by force. What really needs to change is the public mindset.
Or look at the trend of Black actors at the Oscars... they need more leading roles, certainly. But for heaven's sake, it doesn't mean Ariel has to be a Black person.
For me, the worst example of this was in the film Tulip Fever. If I recall correctly, the movie is set in Amsterdam during the 17th century. A few Black people appeared in the film, but the most glaring part was seeing wealthy Black individuals in fine suits just walking through a scene for less than a second in the background... And that happened maybe five times, perhaps even more. If that isn't a slap in the face, I don't know what is. 🙏 All of this is done just so some Americans won't complain that there isn't a single Black person in the cast. They shield themselves with that kind of circus. Fine, give one Black actor a meaningful role and let them say a line... but those people relegated to the background for a split second in expensive clothing? Honestly, I found it quite degrading.
I'll be signing off shortly... The film *After* was based on books. One of the main male characters in the book is a blonde... but in the movie, he's a Black person.
Then, a minor male role was changed into a female character. In the book, he has a girlfriend... but in the movie, since the character is now female, they turn it into a lesbian relationship.
All of this just so nobody can claim the film is once again filled with nothing but heterosexual white people.
Mark my words, they'll probably find a way to insert someone gay into Ariel's story too.
Why is everyone tearing Will apart? So he has blond hair—who cares... If he weren't blond, everyone would be making a huge deal about how the Genie isn't blond either...
I wasn't expecting too much—actually, maybe I was, since the movie wasn't exactly my cup of tea 🤷 I'm not necessarily hunting for perfect logic, but some parts truly made zero sense... there were good moments, but still
I finally watched the movie—it’s decent enough 😁 but that ending... it leans way too hard into the comedy and parody bit. The character basically runs him over and just stands there grinning from ear to ear—they definitely overplayed their hand there it feels totally disconnected from the tone of the rest of the film
I honestly think Alex has never looked better—and I can't believe I'm even saying that, considering how much I loved him back in the True Blood days 😵 I’ve never been one to obsess over physique, but he seriously looks incredible 🙂
Lawrence Richardson13 said:Has nobody actually seen this movie yet? 🤷 The box office numbers aren't exactly booming either—it’s only been out for a week, but still, what a shame. I was really hyped for this one after watching so many interviews with the cast. The lead is great, and Margot is just... wow. 😍 Like people said, it’s not your typical story. There's a lot going on with politics, slavery, and animal trafficking. Alexander something and Margot Robbie were fantastic together. He plays such a brute, and I loved how much more serious his version of Tarzan was. The animal scenes were top-notch, and the scenery of the American wilderness looked incredible.
👍
I'm going to see this solely because of Alexander 😁 🙂
