Yeah.

Using single-channel RAM is a massive mistake for Call of Duty, especially when you're running an Intel Core setup. If you're playing at 1080p on competitive settings—you know, everything set to low or medium textures—that RTX 3060 should be able to push well over 100 FPS easily.

@Peter Green

The build looks solid, though I think you might have overlooked this specific memory module:

@darktinker60

That’s definitely a smart pick. You can actually grab it here while it's on sale:

I guess you’ll have to make do with just two games installed on the SSD for a while. 😛

Maybe keep an eye out for some sales starting next week, though they might not be for what you actually need. The biggest ones should be around Black Friday and Cyber Monday.

Given how much they're charging for a 1TB SSD at Micro Center, I guess it might actually make more sense to just grab an extra 1TB HDD instead. You could use the SSD strictly for Windows, your main apps, and games, then dump everything else onto the hard drive.

Which PSU should I buy? in Desktops ·
That Hyper unit for $200 is just your run-of-the-mill power supply, really. They have an EVGA SuperNOVA 600 W model for $147... but honestly, for just a bit more than $200, you could probably find a Corsair RM series or an EVGA Gold series instead.

I guess it might be easier to just grab that and pay for shipping.

X79 boards are pretty hard to come by these days. I’d say you could probably snag $500 for the whole setup. If you're buying just the board, maybe expect to pay around 700-$250.

Not necessarily, since PUBG is pretty sensitive to IPC and latency. The Core i7-3930K is a bit slower than, say, a Ryzen 5 1600, which actually performs noticeably better in this game compared to older chips or certain Intel setups. I think I saw someone mention they jumped from a Core i7-3930K @ 4.6GHz to a 9700K @ 5GHz and ended up with about 30-40% more FPS, plus way fewer drops during intense fights or when moving through big areas.
CPU, Motherboard, and RAM recommendations? in Desktops ·
I think the Ryzen 5 3600 is probably the better buy right now compared to any i5 out there. You're paying $167 more for a 9600K, and honestly, it only seems to offer a tiny edge if you're playing on low settings with a high-end GPU.

It’ll definitely be built around an Ryzen 5 1600, which should work fine for $267. As for GPUs, you could go a dozen different ways depending on what you want to spend. You can snag an MSI RX580 8 G Armor for under $533, though I suppose the RX 5500 is an option now too... 😬
