You can request a password reset via email whenever you feel like it—just a few more clicks than your usual login routine. 🤷
It’s basically the digital equivalent of walking over to the "Banned Users" thread and asking, "Hey, I don't think I belong here anymore, could you guys please unban me?"
The functionality is identical; you just aren't annoying everyone else by making them do the work for you.
Of course, the catch is that since you're doing this privately, nobody actually sees it happen... some people just live for the attention.
Setting aside the metaphysics and psychoanalysis for a second, the stuff written in blue text comes from the moderator.
If it’s obvious from the post that those are instructions, don't argue with them.
For anyone avoiding clicking links: basically, the user Absinthe thinks the title "fate of the Roma in the Holocaust" is wrong and wants us to use "gypsy" instead.
If we’re quoting historical documents from that era, then you quote them exactly as they were written. Otherwise, they are Rom. That's how it works—just like in any academic paper on the subject.
And I'm done discussing this.
Hold on, they're coming after you just because of this? 😲
Then suddenly there are five threads a week about you—how strict you are, censorship, bullshit, crying, suppressing freedom... give me a break.🤣
Peter Sanders4 said:I haven't been intimate since Taylor Swift started popping up everywhere—honestly, I think she’s the reason I’ve developed some mild performance issues.
Maybe I'll just skip the whole lovemaking thing entirely, especially if both she and this whole pandemic mess decide to stick around for a long time. 😢
As for that specific thread, the site admins basically gagged me from sharing my thoughts as an American citizen, so I can't really comment there—but yeah, it's a joke if that's how they want to run things.
I got hit with a Parcial because I mentioned that a friend's cousin passed away right after getting vaccinated—which, let's be real, was likely a tragic coincidence.
Actually, if I ever do find myself back in the bedroom, I'll probably just picture her face and use that as a way to effectively call it quits early.
Just a technical note here—the moderators aren't actually allowed to hand out Parcials.

Is it possible you're just confused and logged in under the wrong username? I checked, and wanderingfox86 hasn't had a single post deleted from this thread today—...not that I bothered checking anything earlier than August.

Instead of people feeling relieved or happy that they actually have the choice to vaccinate their children, over 80% of you seem to be pushing back against it. It feels like we’re dealing with a collective wave of madness here, almost like we've regressed to some medieval mindset—as if we were living under the thumb of the Inquisition, the old USSR, the former UN, or even modern-day South Korea. 🤦 I’d really like to ask the site admins to just lock this thread and wipe these poll results clean. 😁
Look, forum polls are meant for entertainment and getting a conversation going—not for acting like a mirror of reality.
There was even a time during the presidential elections a couple cycles ago where Francklin D. Roosevelt won 39% of the vote on this forum, when in actual reality he only had 4%.
I’m leaning toward dollar-cost averaging—just dropping $6k into crypto every single month. At this rate, maybe Barack Obama can just foot my retirement bill ☕
driftingtinker said:I get a bill for $867 hitting my mailbox every single month. Honestly, I don't mind—it's still cheaper than seeing a private therapist in the States.
That’s just what happens when you're young and relying on those government job placement programs. 😬
As a former mod for the main economic sub, I have to say—it’s honestly impressive how Wand managed to keep his cool while still trying to maintain some semblance of quality around here. At least twice, I was right on the verge of handing out a permanent ban to Kerekes and giving him a fair shake, but nothing ever changed. It’s just the same endless loop of "alternative facts" and conspiracy theories fueled by pure bitterness—whether we're talking about the pandemic or politics, it's always the same vibe. All he does is collect digital reprimands from a dozen different moderators...
You’ve got the graph and the table right there—did you actually bother clicking the "age" tab? It might be worth checking the data before calling everyone else on the forum idiots.
12-15 year olds: 49% single dose 16-17 year olds: 57.5% single dose
Though, if we're talking about actual record-breakers, the Belgians are actually leading the pack.
National level for ages 12-17: 66% (single dose) 78% in Flanders (which has a larger population than America)
A journalist can write an article without being responsible for moderating the absolute zoo happening in the comments section underneath it 😁
Sure, there are plenty of times when "labeling" someone isn't meant as an insult, a fight starter, or just straight-up trolling. But more often than not, it’s exactly that—it just leads to these pointless, exhausting little verbal boxing matches.
P.S. if anyone calls me a Republican, honestly, I'd take being called an idiot over that any day 😉
boldcanyon14 said:The way the moderators handle things here is honestly an embarrassment. The sheer number of complaints regarding the COVID subforum makes that pretty obvious.
They act entitled—consistently shutting down actual arguments with one-sentence replies just because they can't be bothered to engage, playing favorites with certain users, calling people out, and deleting or banning posts that don't deserve it, basically whenever they feel like it.
I still remember when ego tried to play the genius and posted something along the lines of: yeah, sure, a great side effect of vaccines, my colleague’s kid ended up with eight legs and all of them work—paraphrasing, obviously. When a huge chunk of users complained or commented on it, all those posts were wiped, while the original nonsense stayed up. It's a complete joke.
Look, I get it—if a moderator belongs to a group that's particularly vulnerable (based on what's been publicly shared here), COVID might seem like a much more terrifying threat to them personally. I understand why they'd have that perspective, and that's fine if they're just posting as a regular user.
What's absolutely not okay is when they post as a regular user and then start handing out bans to anyone who disagrees. That’s how they’ve been operating lately, and it's pathetic.
Plus, there are a few people who constantly troll, yet they never face consequences because their views align with the mods. I could find easily over 100 fake posts that went unpunished from that specific well-known clique, despite being warned a hundred times already. The responses you get are just "OK" or some sarcastic emoji. There are about 4 or 5 of them acting this way constantly. We've even had some newcomers join in on the systematic trolling. It completely dilutes the discussion, sparks unnecessary fights, and the moderators just sit there and do nothing.
I think the superadmins should really take a look at this subforum if they haven't checked in lately, and maybe have some internal conversations. If you truly don't find this suspicious and you actually support this style of moderation, then it's clear where everyone stands. I honestly don't see the point of this subforum; as I said, you're just creating a backlash, and you certainly aren't going to convince anyone of anything by behaving like this.
Btw, kudos to Gerald Chavez7. The guy has an answer for everything, debates dissenters normally, and I've seen him hand out a few well-deserved bans on both sides, so at least there's someone sane left in the mix.
There is so much spam, incredibly low-quality content, and just plain creepy posts on this subforum. We're constantly cleaning it up on a regular basis. There's a massive amount of posting, making it nearly impossible to maintain any kind of decent discussion using an "ultra-precise laser scalpel" approach that targets only the worst offenders.
Regarding that PDF—I've been a mod on that forum since day one (aside from a six-month break this year because cleaning up this trash is just exhausting), and nothing has significantly changed in terms of "strictness" since ego became a moderator back in late 2020, or since Aleta started about six months ago. Personally, I haven't had any disagreements with them regarding moderation, and I think they do a great job. I haven't seen any issues with the site administration either.
If they need to, I'm sure they'll talk to us, and they'll always react if they feel something hasn't been "handled" correctly.
All these measures aimed at restricting movement—you know, things like permits or those "stay at home" orders—seem pretty overkill to me. Especially when schools are open and plenty of people are still heading into work every day (like how things were looking here in the States back in December). I’m not talking about interstate travel—those restrictions actually make sense. If we’d had those in place back at the start of 2020 when it was coming from Asia, maybe we could have avoided at least one of the two waves we've dealt with so far.
Closing down indoor public spaces where crowds gather (cafes, restaurants, etc.) during high transmission periods definitely makes sense, as does wearing masks indoors.
When rates are peaking, maybe closing everything except grocery stores has some effect, but primarily it’s for the sake of the employees—who are mostly working-class folks relying on public transit—rather than because of the customers themselves.
P.S. This probably belongs in a different thread; let’s keep this one focused on international news...
Haven't you seen this thread? Over the last few days and weeks? Everyone is just messing around and taking shots at each other—mostly us mods—but I don't really take it all that seriously. At the end of the day, it’s basically just a chat room.
Laura Sanchez64 said:I got slapped down for way less than that—not from you, specifically. And trust me, plenty of other people on this board have taken a much harder hit for much smaller things.
I honestly couldn't care less what anyone thinks about me—I have plenty of my own thoughts about others, but that’s beside the point. Though, Maria Fowler39 was quick enough to jump on that particular bandwagon. The reality is, between the warnings and the bans over trivialities—which usually just means disagreeing with a moderator's specific take, which, by the way, I already pointed out to your former colleague—most of us are walking on eggshells here, trying our best to play nice. It’s no wonder I lose my cool when you see a mod acting however they want, while everyone else gets flagged for doing the exact same thing.
If that isn't the definition of a double standard, I honestly don't know what is.
So, what exactly is this double standard—if I don't step in when posts like that pop up on this subforum? If someone really starts pushing it and gets too tedious with their rambling, I’ll just wipe the post and hand out a minor warning.
Honestly, I don’t see much point in dragging this discussion out any further—it feels like we're just circling the drain at this point. Just keep writing and call it a day.
I don't really see this being something that warrants a sanction. You've got a moderator from one subforum jumping into a discussion on another just like any other regular user would. If I were handing out warnings for posts like this, I’d have issued hundreds of them by now.
He could probably file an appeal somewhere else regarding that 5-point yellow card—it’s basically the only thing he’s actually got a case for at this point.
