Honestly, I don't get all this drama over the ads. I can't even see them. 😬
Why does everyone think they're so great? in Psychology & Therapy ·
There are actually studies out there looking at how—and why—decent people end up doing incredibly messed up things. It’s not exactly a simple equation, I guess.

But honestly, why anyone would think they aren't a good person... I don't think that really needs explaining. I mean, who could actually live with themselves if they thought they were just some pure evil, total piece of trash?
That's why we all just make up these ridiculous excuses for ourselves.
Wrong day for trolling, guys. in Feedback & Suggestions ·
electricangler22 said:1. Because the mods spend the first five days just chilling so they can go hard during the last two—kind of like how most people in America operate.
2. Honestly, maybe you’re just totally unaware of your own "talents"😍, so take that warning as a gift.
A ban is for being stupid and making huge generalizations. Seriously, kudos to whichever mod gave it to you—I'm not trying to be mean, Morgan Rodriguez57, but you aren't actually banned; you can still post. Instead, you're over here whining and calling out other guys just because they didn't get hit with a ban card too. If you really think that's how this works, you truly have "talents."

Oh yeah, Morgan Rodriguez57, absolutely. I mean, how do you not feel embarrassed moping around here demanding special treatment when there are actual people getting banned on other forums and starving kids in Africa? 🙄

Honestly, you've got a point... I know for a fact that most moderators do this intentionally. They act smug, basically spit in the faces of regular users, and mock people when they complain about getting banned... not to mention the blacklists and everything else. 👍

Daniel Ward87

You were chatting with a user who’s already been sent to the ban corner—someone that the average user barely even visits or bothers to reply to when they're venting about stuff.
I honestly don't get how anyone could see that kind of behavior as being stuck-up. It's gotta be people just looking for trouble. ☕

We all put way too much hope into new admins, though you've probably noticed things have actually improved since they started cleaning up the PŽK.
Things were rough for a while, but give people their first hundred days to prove themselves 😉

You give a hundred days to a new administration that has no clue what kind of mess they've inherited.
I mean, nobody sane would give Kosor a hundred days when she was already running the show, just like they wouldn't have given Sanders that grace period when he won his second term as Prime Minister.

The new admins aren't exactly newbies here; they know what the problems are—or at least they've been briefed on them—long before now.

We should be expecting results. Like, yesterday.
Fine, I'll give them until the end of this week. They've got four hours left. ☕

It feels like a total lose-lose situation because if the mods get penalized, people complain that it was done just because, but if they aren't penalized, then everyone cries foul about discrimination
...
If we stay silent, we're told we're ignoring everyone...
And if we don't stay silent, we're told we should have just kept our mouths shut in the first place...

I really don't know who could possibly be happy with those kinds of rules... 🤷

If punishing moderators for spamming, insults, or mindless chatting becomes the norm rather than the exception, then maybe we can finally say this forum has actually progressed.

Right now, you guys just took a hit—kind of like how our top-tier, totally irresponsible politicians take a beating when they screw up. Well, if they even get one.
There are several of us who have dealt with being insulted by mods, getting yellow-carded for perfectly legitimate posts, and all that nonsense—but nobody says a word. When I was being chased off Alternative by the blue-card crowd with threats and everything, nobody stepped in, except maybe Legion (IIRC) telling me there was zero chance anything would change. I asked for an explanation as to why a completely normal, on-topic, non-flame post was considered trolling, but instead of answers, I just got insults and claims that I was some troll with way too many strikes. And get this: that blue-card lady was never sanctioned for any of it. I lost my Ban for way less than that.

Mods hold power; and naturally, that comes with responsibility.
Hardly anyone calls out some idiot troll—they might report a post and wait for a mod to rightfully crush them. But when the mods start acting like this? It’s like seeing cops driving without seatbelts, robbing casinos, or breaking into houses.
Because you hold power, you should be held to a higher standard, which means people call you out more often—people without power can't abuse it, after all. You have it, you can abuse it, and frankly, you often do. Most of the time it goes unpunished because the forum backs the mods, and the super-mods or admins don't really act as a corrective force for this kind of stuff.
Yeah, okay, Smart_bitch handed out some cards. Big fucking deal. Because collectively—without naming names—you've all acted just as arrogant from your positions of power without ever facing consequences.

What's allowed for the gods isn't allowed for the mortals. We all know that's how the world works, and it's pretty clear this forum is built that way too, but these performative punishments—and they are performative because, again, you're only being punished for this behavior as an exception—feel like a total sham to a lot of us. Especially when you start trying to wiggle out of it with these fake dilemmas that feel like an insult to our intelligence.

Don't be a hypocrite.
The fact remains that some people's logic is just more sound, while others are just... well, way off base compared to everyone else.

Nicholas King said:Something rather bizarre happened here: what started as a series of earnest defenses of that specific action by—well, let's just say—certain moderators, ended up resulting in Steven Ruiz losing his moderator status entirely and being relegated to gray status for now. Honestly, even I found that unexpected; I hadn't gotten the impression that this had suddenly become such a massive "big no-no" again.

Well, my bad then.
I stopped following the argument somewhere back when the mods were still busy playing defense; seeing how it actually played out is a pretty pleasant surprise, I guess.

Who knows, maybe they'll actually fix Alternative one day...
Nah, that’s probably asking way too much. ☕

Nicholas King said:Regardless of who’s who in this mess, I find it—well, it’s just strange—that Slafk can post with the frequency of a retiree's morning urge, while the main sycophants from that thread feel entitled to spit all over everyone whenever they damn well please.

Speaking of which—it looks like Slafk finally got slapped with a ban for leaking private messages. Typical.
So, some moderator pulled this stunt recently—which is exactly why things started blowing up in the comments. People were saying it isn't okay, but honestly? It’s not like there’s anything in the official rules that actually forbids it... at least not until you start leaking private info.

It’s just this blatant inequality and unfairness—and honestly, to put it bluntly, the hypocrisy—that’s making me start to absolutely loathe this forum.
If it weren't for a few of my favorite people here—honestly, just a handful of you—I probably would have walked away from this place a long time ago.

Look, I’m going to pivot slightly toward LJES and how things are being moderated there. Which means I'm indirectly addressing you, too.
The whole "Why is the population becoming more gay?" thread basically devolved into nothing but insults and blatant hate speech. And this wasn't just a momentary lapse; it dragged on for days.
I was busy reporting posts myself. Other people were also chiming in saying they had filed reports.
If I take a look here and there, I can see that some of those reported posts haven't even been dealt with yet; they just sit there.

I actually handed out two warnings for hate speech on that specific thread, and if my memory serves me right, those were pretty much the exact posts you were flagging. 🙂
I'll need to go back through the report logs if I want to tell you for certain, though.

I wiped quite a few posts from that discussion while I actually had the spare time to read through them, but unfortunately, work has been a nightmare lately along with a mountain of personal stuff, so I haven't been able to dedicate much time to it.

Oh, lovely. Look, I get it—you're busy, you don't have the time; we're all dealing with that (it's just that trolls always seem to multiply like Zerg), but there are other moderators on the subforum too. Okay, fine, maybe *you* couldn't react—but what about the rest of them?
Personally, I've drastically cut back on reporting because the mods rarely ever actually do anything about them. It's good to hear that at least some of them weren't just read, but actually resulted in warnings.

reddriver35 said:You're great compared to the rest of them.

If I had one request, it would be for you to jump into discussions a bit more. Just a tiny bit more participation, if you don't mind. 🙂

Take that guy from the story at the beginning, for example. Poor kid was terrified because everyone jumped him, and he ended up shaken up. If you were there, you could have stepped in and redirected the conversation to show that kind of approach isn't okay. Not everyone is outgoing, charming, or bold. Some people are insecure. Try to understand that.
Please, read Nicholas's thread and see what he wrote. In my opinion, the moderator really dropped the ball there.

I reached out to him via PM. He messaged me yesterday with an update. He actually took my advice. He still has questions, too. But with this current atmosphere, he doesn't feel comfortable asking them on the public forum. He should be able to. But I don't have the time to spend all day answering PMs for users who are afraid to post publicly.

People are constantly messaging me privately, which tells me they relate to what's happening. So now, I'm asking the moderators to try and create an environment where everyone feels welcome.
We need actual discussion, not just people attacking someone by calling them a troll, stupid, pathetic, or immature.
The whole point of a forum is to have different people with different viewpoints talking to each other.

Aside from the chaos over at LJES, everyone just echoes each other here. It's impossible to find a dissenting opinion. You're basically rejected by default if you disagree. That prevents high-quality users from engaging in debate. And when that happens, LJES loses its entire purpose.

Honestly, we should probably start penalizing people for quoting massive walls of text just to leave a tiny one-sentence reply. It’s such a blatant violation of basic netiquette, and man, it is just exhausting to deal with.

velvettiger10 said:What exactly is bothering you, Prinčy? 🙂

Try being a little more specific.

What is it about my performance as a moderator that bugs you? Which tasks am I failing to handle properly? I would honestly love to know so I can figure out if this is something I can actually learn and master, or if I should just pack my bags and leave because I'm clearly out of my depth. 🤷

Look, I’ll pivot slightly to LjES and how things are moderated there—which, indirectly, involves you too.
Basically, that thread about why people are repulsed by gay culture or population growth spiraled into nothing but pure insults and hate speech. And this wasn't just a one-off thing; it went on for days.
I was reporting posts. Other people were posting that they had reported stuff, too.
If I bothered to check whether those reported posts actually got sanctioned? They didn't.

I honestly think that discussion died out simply because all the sane people stopped opening threads in the face of that much trolling, insulting, and blatant hate. Personally, I have no intention of ever starting a thread like that again.

Don't get me wrong—I'm not advocating for the kind of aggressive self-censorship that seems to be happening over at Religion (because apparently, according to some puritanical creature there, saying "damn" is a profanity rather than just a figure of speech; seriously, someone needs to teach them what an actual swear word is). But still, certain standards of communication should be maintained. Constantly attacking other users? I mean, that's just beneath any reasonable standard.

Noah Myers8 said:Look, even in the part where you admit you're just trolling, you're still trying to bait me—so you're not wrong there. But when it comes to saying this is my responsibility? Yeah, you've got that wrong. It never was, and it probably never will be.

Anyway, steelskipper5, I've had about enough of you. For starters, you've got quite the collection of "strike" cards ready for trolling and insults. In my book, you've already earned two: one for going off-topic and one for being a troll. So yeah, that's how my system of handing out penalties works.

Seriously? Look at her—she’s completely twisting my words. *Clap clap.*
Look, I’m not going to sit here and deny that I troll—I do it just to get a rise out of certain idiots, which is exactly what I said earlier. If you're taking that personally, well, that’s on you. But I’ll give you my word—my honest, scout's honor word—that I wasn't aiming at you.
Look, I’m not saying my trolling is your responsibility—it isn't. But you *are* responsible for the part where you're handing out red cards to me for trolling I didn't even do.

Look, steelskipper5, I’ve honestly had about enough of you.

I’ve had about enough of you and your amateurish, biased moderation. You’re just throwing bans around like they're actual arguments—honestly, it's exactly the kind of nonsense Ms. Castro pulls.
First off, you’ve got quite the impressive collection of hall passes for trolling and being an absolute jerk. Just so we're clear on how I'm handling you—I'm handing out two: one for going totally off-topic and one for straight-up trolling. That’s basically my whole system for dealing with you.

I mean, you've gotta wonder—is it just me, or is the whole system basically rigged? It feels like they’re just handing out penalties left and right to anyone who doesn't fit their mold. ☕
Look, I haven't exactly decided to go banging my head against a brick wall like Kumek and his crew. Once I saw you treating totally harmless posts like they were some massive troll attacks—and then constantly threatening me with more bans—well, I'm not stupid enough to stick around and argue. When I see you ignoring insults and trolling coming from the other side, yet jumping down my throat over the tiniest little thing, I don't need to be Einstein to figure it out. It’s pretty obvious you’re just being biased, and honestly, I know I'm just going to get screwed over anyway—no matter how careful or polite I try to be.

Look, please don't insult my intelligence.
Look, it’s pretty obvious you're out of your depth here—you just can't help. Honestly, this whole Alternative movement is nothing more than a slap in the face to anyone with half a brain. ☕

Austin Baker86 said:What irritates me is that 90% of the users there consider themselves exceptionally brilliant and capable of "thinking outside the box," yet the moderators have engineered a climate perfectly designed to nurture those exact delusions. Any bit of rational advice is mocked and branded as an "inquisition." Paradoxically, the very people shouting about inquisitions are the ones conducting them, all while blowing their own trumpets over pretentious, "open-minded" nonsense that makes me sick.

Does this just remind me of 90% of drivers out there who genuinely believe they’re absolute pros behind the wheel? 😬
Every single bit of sensible advice gets shut down and labeled as some kind of "inquisition"—which is hilarious, really—because the people screaming loudest about the Inquisition are actually the ones running it. Meanwhile, they’re busy blowing their own horns about being all "open-minded" and progressive... honestly, the whole pretentious act just makes me sick.

I’m telling you, I am just sitting here waiting for someone to actually drop the phrase “soulless minions of orthodoxy” in a serious conversation. Just waiting for it.

Hani, you have never once sanctioned my trolling. They're still right there on the threads about the Illuminati. It's just that they aren't any stupider than the rest of the posts, so maybe you can't even recognize them as trolling anymore.
My clear, straightforward, on-topic questions—even if they lacked arguments (but hey, included some insults later)—got labeled as trolling. Just because you didn't like them, I guess.

Look, you don't have to admit anything to me or the forum. Go ahead, keep covering your ears and screaming LALALALALALALA!
No big deal.
Just keep pushing the narrative that the problem lies with me—or with whatever other user you feel like targeting.
The truth is—and it's pretty obvious here—that the Alternative crowd stinks to high heaven, and you moderators all seem to be dodging very specific questions and concerns. By using these massive, biased bans and selectively picking sides in an argument, you're basically just proving that you're all just covering your ears and shouting LALALALALALALALA!
