What's the deal with these new forums? in Feedback & Suggestions ·
Daniel Ward87 said:Why should we have to give everyone an update on what Tim and I are up to? Don't sweat it—everyone on the admin team handles their own business just like we agreed.

Because you aren't actually doing what people come here to expect from you. It’s pretty obvious that rustydrifter10 can't carry the whole load alone, and besides, you've got that MCA issue hanging over your heads—it's been sitting there for days, and if things keep moving at this pace, years might pass before anyone gets a straight answer...

I’m gonna use this thread to toss a question up to the admins:

It looks like Daniel Ward87 and Tyndall are basically on strike or just totally MIA right now, and since nobody gave us a heads-up, everyone on the forum is just sitting here waiting for answers they aren't getting.

Appreciate any insight you guys can give me.

And it’s not even just about that; you really only have to look at how the admin team refuses to address a basic question from a user regarding how the Powerlock trolls handle their politics.

So, I’m just reposting what he wrote yesterday, since he's been sitting there waiting for a reply for over ten days now.

Reddit

There’s no point in asking if this is how they operate, because we already know it is; all we can really ask is:

When are you actually going to change things up so a regular user can get an answer to a simple question?

I shouldn't have to spell out that the admins exist to serve the users, not the other way around.

Timothy Davis59 said:I found the whole situation pretty sketchy too. The way the admins handled everything felt off—it honestly seems like there’s some personal vendettas at play, which is probably why access to the community was pulled for 🤷

The way they handled the Lord Byron situation was also a massive fail on their part 🤣

As for Schmokljan, getting suspended was well-deserved. He showed zero class and had no respect for the staff or the rest of us. They were actually being way too soft on him. In this instance, the facts are all right there in black and white. But those first two cases? That was all just backroom politics 🤷

Schmokljan is the victim here; he didn't deserve the ban. He just has his own way of doing things, which makes him a typical user with all his quirks, much like how the admins have theirs, but he’s the one getting punished while the administration keeps pretending to "enforce order".

Kudos on starting this thread👍

Seriously though, what's with the admins handing out partial bans? It’s just a quick way to kill any decent conversation right in its tracks.

And don't forget to get Spielberg on the line; his visual effects are absolutely killer...

By the way, I’m a huge fan of Cream of Wheat too, and I actually just asked my wife to whip up a bowl for me... so, quick question: where should I put the bowl? On the edge of the table or right in the middle?

We haven't caught it on film yet, but we're planning to if it happens again. The kid wants to run an experiment; honestly, I couldn't care less, but I'll go along with it just because he's hell-bent on proving something.

Look, I'm not attacking you personally just for the sake of it; I'm calling out the way you guys handled the debate in the last thread. And from where I'm sitting, this one isn't looking any better...

Anyway, if you're actually terrified of living in that apartment despite paying the rent, just move somewhere else, leave that ghost alone, and maybe make it some cookies as a peace offering...

So, what exactly is this new HD footage supposed to prove?

Is it proof of a ghost, or just evidence that you've got way too much free time on your hands?

Either throw down the gauntlet and start a new thread on Reddit... Off topic...So you go ahead and stir up a catfight, and then we'll see who's actually left standing... 😁

edit:

Don't listen to Henry Hernandez7, those guys are just nothing but cardboard collectors... they don't know any better... 😉

Pretty much everyone knows I've been scooping these up without actually earning them.

Chris Green83 said:But we weren't staying on topic. We started out fine, but then the whole thing devolved into this pointless, circular arguing over who did what, when, and why, etc. . I don't necessarily think the moderator was wrong, but honestly? That move felt more like a slap in the face than anything else.😁

Look, you could've just stated your opinion and taken the inevitable Cardboard to the face. No big deal, really.

Chris Green83 said:Where is the fourth rule? You know the one. You’re right in the middle of the most intense debate on the entire Reddit thread, and then suddenly mod swoops in and says Enough, wrap it up. So there you are, ready to write a thousand more words, but you hold back because you know you’ll just end up with a Cardboard. If we look at it objectively, it isn't even fair. Your opponent has made their point, you've made yours, they jump back in, and you should get your turn—but no, mod just shows up to shut you down.

It happened to me just a moment ago. Honestly, I was so frustrated by being forced to stay quiet that I almost lost my cool. 🙂

You had every right to share your thoughts, even if it meant risking a Cardboard, as long as you were staying on topic. It’s easy to feel bitter about the ban later on.
shadowbison77 said:Is there any way I can see a list of all the threads I've actually jumped into, you know, where I've left posts? Since I tend to bounce around a ton and my interests are pretty all over the place 😁, I won't necessarily remember every single conversation I've started by tomorrow morning, but I'd love to be able to check back and see if anyone replied or dropped a follow-up question or whatever...

You can just head over to your own profile and you'll find a full list of your posts right there.

Daniel Ward87 said:The ultimate punishment for anyone on a Forum is getting promoted to moderator. 🙂

Look, man, I don't see it that way... nobody's forcing any moderator to pull duty. If someone's finding the whole thing too much to handle, they should just step down.

Honestly, when it comes to what actually hurts, the worst punishment in my book would be being stripped of the ability to speak my mind freely. But since that isn't exactly an option on the menu here, I guess I'll just go with a three-day ban from the poll questions instead. 🙂

Susan Price30 said:but I wasn't just focusing on that one thing, so looking at the whole context of what I wrote in that post—in my view, they definitely do...

and it all follows logic; if someone’s getting worked up about it, it’s because it’s legally prohibited (or will be once certain laws get updated or clarified)

I mean, what's the point of getting all emotional over this topic, which is honestly way too early to be debating anyway?

Susan Price30 said:So, are we actually talking about the changes that might happen once the US joins the EU, or what exactly?😁

In that first page post, you're rambling on about how things are right now, but the whole point of this thread is what happens after the US becomes an EU member, isn't it?

That's what we're here to discuss...

Fair enough, but I only jumped on your post because I had this gut feeling that your take just doesn't really fit the vibe of this discussion.

Susan Price30 said:^^^ and regarding what I was getting at before you scrubbed it—the whole legal side of using symbols from totalitarian regimes in public spaces.

Look, let's just cut to the chase: publicly backing any kind of criminal ideology has always been illegal here. And if someone decides to show their personal allegiance to one of those ideologies—say, by picking a specific symbol for their avatar—that’s pretty much defined by law as glorifying that exact ideology.

*

Basically, the ideology I've got on my avatar is perfectly fine because it isn't banned by law; in fact, it's completely legitimate and sits right at the core of our Constitution.

Susan Price30 said:and honestly, it’s just as easy for people to get worked up over certain symbols in an avatar... basically, they see someone showing support for those ideologies through their profile pic in someone else's avatar...
.

Totally irrelevant to what we're actually talking about here.

We aren't talking about feelings; we're talking about the law.

I honestly think we’ll end up having to tweak our own Constitution just to stay in line with the EU anyway. We’ve already had to overhaul a massive pile of regulations and laws, so this will probably be no different. Communism was an absolute disaster.
I don't have the exact numbers on how many people were killed versus imprisoned during the era of Communist Yugoslavia, but I do know that Joseph Stalin wiped out more people—especially Jewish people—in his gulags than Adolf Hitler did in his death camps.

Look, I'm not interested in arguing over who's got the bigger ego here; I'm just talking about the actual legal framework.
