I feel like Anne's role is a bit dull, almost like something out of one of those Miles or Gloria novels. De Niro just seems to get better at comedies as he gets older, though I guess this one is a little too mild for me! Still, it's worth a watch!
I mostly watched this for the kids at home. It feels like the entire budget was dumped into flying ships and flashy special effects. The dialogue between the children is honestly quite cringey and feels scripted just to pass a test; you can really sense the director's lack of effort in giving the characters any actual depth. This could have been such a charming, witty story, but instead, we ended up with a routine, shallow production that wasted a huge budget and did a disservice to the original book.
I honestly traded this movie for that total garbage called Krampus: The Reckoning, which was pretty much bottom-of-the-barrel stuff. Since Toni Collette is in this one, though, I guess it might actually be worth a watch just for the laughs!
A handsome, striking, and charismatic actor! A true, enduring cinematic legend, too. And he managed to stay that way despite his messy private life and weight gain. Respect!
I guess Eli Roth is supposed to be some kind of big name in the horror genre...??? To me, this just feels like some teen-focused, sexy trash thriller made for a direct-to-video release!
I don't know, but this seems pretty mediocre compared to the last one. I can't help but wonder where all those millions actually go when the VFX look like they were rendered on average workstations! Maybe they're just overspending on caviar for lunch? Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if the franchise just keeps traveling the globe, simply swapping out the city in the title—we might end up seeing something like Washington Has Fallen next..
There's definitely an influx, but it’s mostly just bad Sci-Fi movies! You see endless amounts of low-quality footage featuring frantic teenagers because everyone thinks they can shoot their own version of > using nothing but a smartphone and a few bucks. Then you have these so-called dystopian adolescent films aimed at a teenage audience—everything from > and > to the >—that all feel exactly the same. It’s even similar to those pathetic reboots like > or >, where it feels like rookie writers try to push themes of brotherhood and diversity by changing > into a girl from >, making > African American, and so on, so it’s almost expected that > becomes gay. I guess these movies are either super cheap amateurish junk, or they're incredibly expensive messes overloaded with > that serves no purpose other than being irritating rather than spectacular. There is so much work by >, >, >, and > that remains unadapted... I wonder if anyone will ever actually tackle their stories, or if we're just stuck with endless, uninspired remakes and reboots?
It feels like Melissa is trying way too hard to be vulgar in her comedies. I suppose she’s cute, but that shift from the sweet cook in Gilmore to being crude in almost every single movie is just a bit much for me! Jason Statham does a great job portraying a dim-witted agent in his few lines, though. And honestly, that vomiting scene was just gross. It really turned my stomach! You can do so much with a spy theme, but this comedy clearly went overboard with the bad taste and toilet humor.

Dick novel, but it’s handled pretty routinely—not really aiming for anything deeper than a summer trip to the theater with a medium popcorn. It's probably just one of those things you watch once and then move on from!

I believe Conan the Barbarian was filmed in Spain! Even now, critics seem to argue over whether it’s just trash or an epic masterpiece. For me personally, Conan defined my childhood; I used to spend most of my allowance on Marvel comics featuring him. A ripped young Arnold, incredible production design, the costumes, all those swords and axes, and that stunning soundtrack by Basil Poledouris... it’s perfect.
Since I’ve never really viewed Smith as much of an artist, I guess this actually works better than that mess, After Earth. Even if the plots within plots and those twists felt pretty predictable to me, there are enough interesting elements outside of the whole Sith thing to make it worth grabbing some popcorn for.
The sheer banality of this is giving me a headache! Everything feels so cliché and mashed together into this messy pile of textbook tropes about the post-war USSR, Stalin, and that serial killer. It’s just vodka, Cossack dances, Kalinka, Mr. Dzhugashvili, and all those old stereotypes. I suppose it isn't a total stereotype because they focus on the murders of children, but honestly, if you're making a movie in English, you should probably just let them speak English. I get the feeling the actors even sound ridiculous to themselves with that forced "Russian" accent, which is just another irritating part of the film.
