On the other hand, it makes little sense that a man like him would take his own life at the first sign of a crisis... especially after leaving his kids entirely to characters whose worldview he absolutely loathes. I didn't find the final act strange at all; the kids simply wanted a different lifestyle and pushed for it once their circumstances changed. In the end, everyone reached a compromise.
Bryan Rogers87 said:Unfortunately, it didn't really work as a good movie. It isn't anything terribly bad—just mediocre—but overall it leaves you feeling cold; you just can't connect with any of the characters. They tried to pull it off by focusing almost entirely on the two leads and their internal doubts, but it’s hollow, uninteresting, and ultimately fails. In that focus on the protagonists, everything else just gets pushed aside.
Technically, it seems fine. It's clear enough, though some historical facts were invented, some omitted, and others changed; most serve the plot, but I don't see why some had to be made up just for the sake of the film. Other parts were cut entirely despite being crucial to the events shown.
A shame.... Just middle-of-the-road.
The movie is OK but the original left a better impression on me
It just took them a while to realize who they were actually fighting. They had no clue who they were stepping up against. It’s not exactly easy for a mob of untrained civilians to take down a fortified bunker filled with soldiers who live and breathe war every single day.
The movie is decent enough, but honestly, it doesn't hold a candle to Black Hawk Down.
I just don't get what happened to him... my first brush with his work was that masterpiece—Days of Heaven. But after that, I stumbled upon Tree of Life and thought, fine... I'll pretend I didn't see it... but now it turns out this is just who he is. This repetitive, pretentious, overblown nonsense keeps going, which only suggests that Days of Heaven was actually an outlier. 😕
Anyway, Knight of Cups is garbage. It felt like watching a two-hour commercial for some designer perfume. They should screen it in Guantanamo or—if we want to be extreme—in Central Park. Everyone would stop singing immediately.
Thin Red Line is one of the best films ever made for me. I am definitely watching this; I loved Tree of Life.
Sean Bailey75 said:What invasion are you even talking about...? We haven't seen decent Sci-Fi since Oblivion, Gravity, and The Martian. That’s maybe once a year, if I'm counting right. As for action flicks, comedies, or those "teen adventures" disguised as Sci-Fi... there's a dime a dozen. It’s been far too long since we’ve seen a drama this good...So, I don't see any invasion happening. Could you clarify where exactly this invasion is supposed to be? Because I’m still sitting here waiting for some freaking aliens or a Predator, and it looks like I might be waiting forever...
Yeah, sure... 😁
Beasts of No Nation
Technological progress has finally allowed action Sci-Fi to be filmed at a somewhat "believable" level... Then there's this whole Nolanomania thing, where he raked in massive profits with Batman and kicked off an entirely new trend. There probably aren't that many Sci-Fi films that don't revolve around superheroes...

Why not? He's Navajo on his father's side, after all. Bows and arrows are in his DNA.😁
Though I'd much rather see him wielding a .50 cal.☕
And a little philosophy...
John Rambo: [Director's cut ] go Live Your Life 'cause you've got a good one. Sarah: It's what I'm trying to do. John Rambo: No, what you're trying to do is change what is. Sarah: And what is? John Rambo: That we're like animals! It's in the blood! It's natural! Peace? That's an accident! It's what is! When you're pushed, killing's as easy as breathing. When The Killing stops in One Place, it starts in another, but that's okay... 'cause you're killing for your country. But it ain't your country who asks you, it's a few men up top who want it. Old men start it, young men fight it, nobody wins, everybody in the middle dies... and nobody tells the truth! God's gonna make all that go away? [pause] John Rambo: Don't waste your life, I did. Go home.
Man, Robert De Niro absolutely crushed it in Taxi Driver. Beyond his incredible performance, there’s this bizarre cinematic atmosphere—really haunting, with an unconventional, almost diabolical plot and brutal scenes. It clearly got under people's skin, and for good reason... Hard to put into words.
He’s at his best playing those underdog characters who just grit their teeth and bulldoze their way to victory. It's basically urban fairy tales for the average blue-collar worker... He built his entire career on this formula. It’s all transparent and shallow, but it works perfectly because that's exactly the kind of escapism we crave. There's something entertaining about watching a marginalized guy actually pull it off without it feeling completely impossible.
That's the vibe of Rocky, Rambo, Over the Top, Daylight, Lock Up... essentially, aside from some overacting in comedies, all his roles follow this pattern, and he fits the part perfectly. He has that kind of face 😁
A lot of people completely missed this one. I love it. Keanu still looks so good he could easily carry a remake, especially since the duo in the trailer has zero charisma.
When I read this, I didn't care about the headline or the journalist's prose style... I focused on the facts. The guy was broke—struggling, truly penniless—which multiple sources have confirmed throughout his career. Did he land the lead role as an unknown? Yes. Did he write the script himself as an unknown? Yes. Did he transform from a nobody into a global icon? Yes. Was it luck? Hardly. It was pure grit, stubbornness, confidence, risk-taking, and raw business instinct. That story about the dog is just icing on the cake. The fact that some reporter tried to spin this into some sugary motivational fairy tale is completely irrelevant.
As for the topic https://heavyeditorial.files.wordpre...if?w=780&h=440 😁
They mocked him before Rambo IV even hit production, then everyone went silent once the movie actually dropped 😁 This guy is indestructible. His training routines should serve as inspiration for every old man out there 😁
In the fourth installment, he’s just starting to find some inner peace... so the world gets hit hard in the fifth 😁
The last one was actually great, honestly don't think they can top it. I'm not a fan of Rambo out in the wilderness like in part 3, we all know how hollow that movie felt even though they tried everything to make it work.
He had the best role in Hollywood and should have walked away with an Oscar. He’s admitted himself he stands no chance since he burned bridges with most of the Academy personally. The guy clearly has issues... but as an actor, he's incredible.
I felt like I was watching some amateur production filled with million times overused, stereotypical characters. I expected way more from this director. Completely unconvincing and barely watchable...
