I've always stayed around 105 pounds at my height of 5'4"...but then over the last year or two, I lost about 5 pounds...my immune system tanked and everything else went with it. I eventually recovered, but I just haven't been able to gain any weight back...in fact, I dropped another couple of pounds...and it's starting to really get to me. 😠 My diet is completely normal, actually I try to be careful about what I eat since I've had some stomach issues. I honestly don't know what to do anymore. I've even started exercising every morning...just to tone up, since gaining weight seems impossible.
Feel free to delete this thread; I searched through a few sections and couldn't find it anywhere. 😉 PS: I actually got two movies mixed up... my dad was telling me about a new X-Men film where they say Wolverine is going to be even stronger and better than before... anyway, that one comes out in a different year... maybe 2012?? As for this one, it might still be good, and it doesn't really matter that Hugh isn't in it, but the trailer looks a little underwhelming to me.
~ Long before Charles Xavier and Erik Lensherr became known as Professor X and Magneto, they were just two young men learning to control their abilities. Before becoming bitter rivals, they were best friends, teaming up with various Mutants—both old faces and newcomers—to face down a global catastrophe. However, this struggle eventually drove a wedge between them, sparking the endless conflict between Magneto's Brotherhood and Professor X's X-MEN. ~
This looks pretty bad to me, especially since Hugh isn't even in it (I didn't realize that until I saw the trailer, so feel free to delete this thread)... it just doesn't make sense. 🤷
You have observed and explained the connection between low serum iron and elevated WHO levels quite accurately.
If your hemoglobin and red blood cell counts are within the normal range, but the WHO is high, it is possible you are dealing with latent anemia. To confirm this, a ferritin test would be necessary, as a low concentration would indicate such a condition.
It is also possible that this isn't latent anemia at all, but rather that the results are still within normal limits, though a trend toward iron-deficiency anemia could develop if iron stores continue to decline.
Regarding the cause behind the declining serum iron levels, it is impossible to say without a detailed discussion and clinical examination. In women before menopause, the most common causes are heavy menstrual cycles or other reproductive system issues, though dietary iron deficiency is also a factor, among others. Please consult with your physician.
Given the glucose reading of 6.1 mmol/l, assuming you were fasting for at least 8 hours prior to the draw, I suggest you follow up with your doctor regarding a repeat glucose test.
Best regards. 🙂
Thank you so much... I will consult with my doctor. My red blood cell count is 4.52 (3.86 - 5.08), and hemoglobin is 131 (119 - 157). Yes, unfortunately, ferritin wasn't included in my labs... I am 23 years old. It might be due to low iron intake through my diet, or perhaps some underlying inflammation... I have been feeling really weak over the last few months, and I was also on antibiotics. I am taking beta-glucan, B vitamins, and ester C. I think I will redo my labs soon, but I'll try a different hospital or Health Department this time... and I'll check my thyroid hormones too.
I watched it too... It isn't bad, and there were some funny moments, but at times I found it a bit tedious, as if they were just spinning their wheels on nonsense without any real progression. I'm not entirely sure if that was because I drifted off for a moment or...
I also had my throat swab done this past Monday, and they told me to come back on Friday (so, a five-day wait)... In a way, I might actually find it easier if something comes back positive, just so I can finally pinpoint the reason behind these symptoms I've been dealing with lately. I'm curious about what exactly a swab can detect; for instance, if there's a fungal issue, would that show up on a throat swab, or is a tongue swab necessary? Since everything is interconnected, I suppose...
I am experiencing something quite similar: I am truly at a loss regarding my condition. 😢 It could be related to my stomach, or perhaps my throat or lungs... since I frequently feel a persistent need to cough, particularly after eating. Occasionally, I also experience shortness of breath, followed by a tingling sensation in my hands and stiffness in my right fingers. Since I struggle with low blood pressure, a rapid pulse is expected, but when it climbs to 130, it becomes quite alarming. I really should go in for a breath test; I have referrals for that, as well as for a throat swab and an ENT specialist, but I simply haven't made it there yet. 🙄
driftingseal30 said:My cycle is usually super predictable—every 28 days on the dot—but I started my period on October 4th, and then it just showed up again today, October 21st. That’s only day 17 of my cycle... Has anyone else dealt with this? What could cause a cycle to get this irregular all of a sudden? I haven't been under any major stress or anything, so it's definitely making me a bit anxious...
I had the exact same thing happen to me this month. If I remember correctly, I started on the 4th, and then around the 17th, I suddenly started spotting... It might have been due to stress or perhaps an antibiotic I was taking... It only lasted for a couple of days.
I remember watching Coppola's Dracula when I was just a little girl. 😛 I was about six years old at the time, and the older folks took me along to the theater... I recall laughing at how he dragged that massive cape behind him, even while everyone else in the audience sat there absolutely terrified. 🤣
Oh, Maya, I went through the exact same thing you did 😲 regarding some of those specific details. I won't rewrite the whole story from scratch or just copy-paste it, but you can find my previous post right here:
ps: I also used to deal with that sensation in my hand when it goes numb. I'll wake up and it feels completely dead—I can't move it, and there's zero sensation at all. It usually wears off pretty quickly, though...
I have been someone who is perpetually cold for as long as I can remember... even with the heater running, my hands stay chilled. I sleep under several blankets, and when I am awake, I almost always have one wrapped around me.🤷 I also struggle with low blood pressure. I mentioned my thyroid concerns to my primary care physician during a recent visit regarding some allergies, and after a quick exam, she assured me everything seems fine.
I’m struggling with my small chest size—it honestly feels like I have nothing at all... even my 12-year-old sister seems more developed than me. 😢 It’s likely just genetic... I also suspect an imbalance in my hormones since I've dealt with excess body hair since childhood, though that's probably hereditary too. ☕ It’s quite frustrating... I think I'll bring this up with my gynecologist next time to get a professional opinion.
