Kindred ep

What can I even say? It's perfect. Absolutely stunning. 🙂
Whatever he puts out, it sounds unreal.

Burial
Untrue
Street Halo/Kindred ep

I’ll go out on a limb here: the Kindred ep is incredibly close to being an all-time masterpiece from Untrue.

And Kindred as a whole release is that almost painful acceptance, that unwillingness to let go and move on, to get gone, lost in the crowd. Like a pang of guilt does he sample his former self, like a torch carried to its final flicker of illumination. And to hear all that, to be able to almost feel that happening, is to bear witness to an artist working at the apex of his talent.

10/10
One of the most essential rock bands of the last twenty years

🤦

The real joke is they haven't even dropped a single album in the last decade 🤣🤣
total fail 🤦 for the idiots who put this schedule together
Kenneth Williams60 said:Honestly, she’s got a point... they’re totally ripping us off. What sucks most is that I know I’ll probably cave eventually and go to the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival just for one band (Arcade Fire), but man, I’d be thrilled if that much money actually got me a decent lineup. Instead, we get headliners like Jamiroquai or TV on the Radio—bands that usually end up in tiny font on other festivals' posters.

Terraneo managed to book way more interesting indie acts in their very first year than INmusic has in its entire history.

Real talk. I couldn't care less about the "alternative scene." I'd much rather watch Nick Cave than some garbage bands that are only considered "cool" because nobody has ever heard of them.
If I'm shelling out cash for a ticket, I want to see actual good bands, not some alt trash.
silentdriver12 said:I’m going to be sick from dealing with this Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival crap
Look, Live Nation brings out la ROUX. LA ROUX. It’s not even like they announced two solid acts and then decided to pivot to local talent—they always announce massive international stars who are actually good. Why are they so incompetent? Seriously. And look, the people at Live Nation are actually nice people. You see them on Facebook trying to listen to suggestions and acting like they care about making everyone happy by booking big names. They claim they’re trying their best and want us to be happy too.
But instead, we get this Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival mess. A total disaster. People are flooding their Facebook comments telling them to just go jump in a lake already.
Honestly, I'm so glad I didn't buy a ticket.

🤣🤣
la ROUX... what a terrible name, and what a terrible artist😂
Morgan Palmer2 said:Marić reported that the European Union actually recognized the festival this year and is chipping in some funding for the lineup featuring European artists.

Anyone got a clue who they might bring in? I'm thinking maybe Manu Chao, but honestly, probably not since he’s already doing his own headlining show.

PJ Harvey?

Think about his resume: three-time club champion in Europe, an NBA championship ring, and an Olympic silver medal. On paper, he’s won it all. But in reality? His actual contribution to any of that was basically zero. He spent half his life grinding in the NBA just to average five points and three or four rebounds a game. Hard to call yourself a legend when you're barely a footnote on the stat sheet.

Look, Hakeem wouldn't even stand a chance against Patrick Ewing and Shaquille O'Neal in the Finals if he hadn't been sparring with Žan Tabak at practice. 😁

Believe it or not, Ballack probably has more fans in Sweden or Denmark than he does here in America.

He played baseball, sure, but the NFL is really just an excuse to push that whole "American sports are unbeatable" narrative, like being a US champion somehow makes you the best in the world.

No way. I was just reacting to that take. Forget Ruth—who actually sits around watching baseball?

I already laid out how every single move he made—whether it was on the court or in his personal life—was hyped up to an insane degree. That’s where he gets overrated. Look, he's one of the greatest to ever play the game, period, but he isn't a god. He had elite teammates, a top-tier coach, and, just as importantly, a world-class PR machine behind him.

Look, I don't give a damn about the CNN coverage, his PR stunts, or his private life. I only care about those 48 minutes on the hardwood. And when it comes to that, the man cannot be overrated. End of story. I'm done talking about it.

darkpilot9 said:Pippen was an incredible player, but people just totally overlook him even now. Kobe managed to pull off championships without Shaquille O'Neal, so it makes you wonder if Michael Jordan could have actually done it without Scottie Pippen.

Until they brought in Pau Gasol, he didn't win squat. Honestly, Gasol is the one who really pushed him over the edge.☕

It’s freaking OBVIOUS Pippen had better numbers when Jordan wasn't around, because he HAD to step up as the leader. Why didn't he put up those kinds of stats when Jordan was there? Was it because Michael had to be the face of the team due to CNN hype, or just because he's a better player?
Scottie was an incredible all-around player, basically built to do all that "invisible," dirty work that nobody else could touch. At least in the era I've watched.
But there's a reason Scottie was just supporting Jordan, and a reason why Phil organized things that way.
CNN hype?
Duh. ☕

Honestly, talking to you is pointless because you look at everything strictly through stats. You end up creating this circular logic "argument"—that they played better without Jordan because their stats were higher (and their stats were higher because they had to fill the void left by Jordan).

There's just one "subtle" difference. Zero rings without Jordan. Six rings with him.

Just let him be.
Without Jordan, they had a season with two more wins, but then they got knocked out in the Eastern Conference semifinals because of a robbery. If they hadn't been robbed, they would've won. So, according to him, that season is better than the previous one with Jordan, which had two fewer wins but ended with a championship. Fine.🙏

And then his argument becomes about scoring 50 points at a dunk contest in Chicago when he hit a free-throw dunk and barely cleared the line!!! CNN hype.🙏🙏 I mean, I'll admit it, he shouldn't have gotten those 50 points; he only got them because he was the "homegrown" guy!

I bet his bio says "historical revisionist" and "making excuses."🙏

And why is nobody here even mentioning Toni Kukoč? 😁

The best sixth man in the NBA, period. 🙏 😁

rowdytinker3, screw your opinion. The fact is, nobody outside the States would ever hear about those babies if it wasn't for Hollywood.

Anyone actually interested in baseball would definitely know who he is.

Jason Fisher78 said:Because obviously, you can't just force anyone to win a championship whenever you feel like it.

The whole thing is that they all reached those titles by helping each other out. It wasn't just everyone else riding on Jordan's coattails. When the supporting cast wasn't clicking—especially within Jackson's triangle offense where Jordan really thrived—the championships stopped coming. Just like how those guys wouldn't have achieved anything without Jordan, Jordan wouldn't have won a damn thing without them. Simple as that. It proves Jordan wasn't some "one-man show."

The question itself is flawed. Which stats are we even talking about? But looking at the big picture beyond just the playoffs: Wilt Chamberlain, Oscar Robertson, Bill Russell, Magic Johnson, and in certain categories, even Larry Bird and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar. Personally, I think everyone on that list except for Kareem Abdul-Jabbar is better than Jordan.

And who was actually the best player on the Chicago Bulls in '91, '92, '93, '96, '97, and '98?

Just like how Blažičko drives people crazy with Senn, Slavek was a hundred times worse with his constant cheering for the Chicago Bulls and that non-stop chanting about how Jordan—whom he’d scream "MICHAEEEELLLLL" for—was the greatest, most dominant red-clad master of all time.

Back then, everyone would complain about the national networks because of his bias. I'll never forget Slavek actually saying during a broadcast: "I hear some viewers are complaining that we're rooting for the Bulls. WELL, WHO ELSE WOULD WE ROOT FOR!? Because of Kuki, because of Dukan (big deal, scout 🙄), because of Michael"...

Seriously, he was enough on his own to irritate people and turn them against the Chicago Bulls, even if the sound of his lighter clicking near the mic was almost charming in a weird way.

Facts. I hated the Bulls and Jordan. But I'm definitely not going to make up stupid nonsense like saying Rodman pushed him to three titles.
Slavek, the sound of the lighter, and that coughing into the mic...🤣🤣🙏

Me? I'm a Knicks fan.
You want to talk about frustration? Every single time Jordan showed up at Madison Square Garden, it felt like a total assault on my sanity.
As for those Rockets and that Game 7 in the finals... honestly, I've just repressed those memories entirely.😁

Jason Fisher78 said:That’s just plain wrong, and you can prove it with the numbers. Scottie Pippen actually played his best ball when Jordan wasn't even on the court. Back in '94, he was averaging 22 points, 8.7 rebounds, and 5.6 assists. When else did he ever hit those kinds of numbers? In '95, he became only the second player in history to lead his team in points, boards, assists, blocks, and steals. So, he was at his absolute peak while Jordan was away, which totally kills the idea that Jordan "pushed" him to be better.

Tim Longley? A mediocre player from start to finish. Jordan didn't improve him one bit. We're talking about a center who averaged 5 rebounds and 7 points for his career. Give me a break—Jordan didn't "upgrade" him.

Take Steve Kerr, for example. You want to know when he had his best season? It was 1994, right when he joined the Chicago Bulls. That was the year Jordan was out. How does that work if Jordan wasn't pushing him? Plus, Kerr was already one of the top three shooters in history during the '89-'90 season playing for the Cleveland Cavaliers. That was long before he ever shared a floor with Jordan. Clearly, Jordan didn't make him better. He was an elite player both before and after joining Jordan.

And look at Dennis Rodman. By 1990 and 1991 in Detroit, he had already established himself as the best defensive player out there. That was before he ever teamed up with Jordan. It was actually Rodman's arrival that pushed Chicago toward those three titles. He pushed Jordan, not the other way around.

Etc. ☕

So how is it that Rodman didn't push Robinson to get rings?
And why did Pippen have his best stats when Jordan wasn't around? Look... if you don't get that, I honestly can't help you.

Hey, you're entitled to your opinion. But honestly, everyone except Jordan deserves credit for those six rings and that '82-'10 run. Especially Kerr and Pippen. Then Rodman, and then Jordan. Maybe Toni Kukoč somewhere in there too.

Now tell me, how many players actually have better stats than Jordan? Let's stick to the playoffs, because regular season stats are total garbage anyway.

Jason Fisher78 said:Typical. Americans always need an all-American hero. The NBA was expanding back then, so someone decided he’d be the guy, and he played the part. I’m not saying he wasn't a good player, but his god-like status was manufactured by marketing, not just pure talent. His PR was top-tier right from the jump—starting with those gold chains at the dunk contest and just rolling with it. The media treated every single move he made like it was some superhuman feat, even though plenty of other players were doing the exact same thing; they just weren't under a microscope. Then there was all that talk about him leaving to win a title elsewhere, and we saw how that played out with the Washington Wizards. If he hadn't had Scottie Pippen and the insane level of authority he was given—which nobody else in the NBA ever got, even before he proved he was more than just average—he would’ve ended up with nothing. He’d just be ranked alongside those solid guys who couldn't win anything because their supporting casts were garbage, despite having great stats, like Dominique Wilkins, Karl Malone, Patrick Ewing, or Clyde Drexler.

You see how the media operates when you look at when Michael Jordan left. They had to urgently manufacture a successor (someone who was still inferior to Michael Jordan), leading to a whole string of "Baby Jordans" until we finally ended up with Kobe Bryant, who ran into massive statistical hurdles because of Shaquille O'Neal. Imagine if Shaq had been like Dennis Rodman, grabbing every board and feeding Kobe. And don't even get me started on Steve Kerr's luck or Toni Kukoč's legendary game against the Utah Jazz. Without them, there wouldn't have been any rings or this much fame. Once Kobe became too much of a liability, they swapped him out for LeBron James and so on. I'm not saying Kobe isn't better, but the media definitely plays a role.

I honestly just want to know what makes Jordan better than, say, Bill Russell.

Jesus Christ, what a pile of garbage. You clearly have no clue what you're talking about. A "good basketball player"?🤣
If he’s just a "good player," then who the hell is a phenomenal one in your book?

Second off, Jordan in Washington? The guy came back to play and you actually expect him to go grab a title with that group of losers on the Wizards when he was 40 years old?🤣 That’s why he’s overrated.🤣
But sure, obviously Scottie Pippen is the sole reason for all those Bulls titles.🙏
I guess Pippen probably stole the ball from Karl Malone in Game 6 of the '98 Finals, broke Bill Russell's leg, and sank the winning shot in the final seconds. Just giving you an example. I have no idea how Malone supposedly had a "weaker environment" than Jordan. Didn't he actually have two chances to beat him, only to hit the rim? How does that work? Must be Pippen's fault. Jordan actually had heavy hitters around him. Buechler, Kerr, Sean Wennington, Longley, Rodney Harper, Dennis Rodman, Toni Kukoč... basically a bunch of Hall of Famers.🤣

"Imagine if Shaq grabbed all the boards"... well, didn't he?🤣

I don't even follow this nonsense you're spewing about Kobe Bryant, Shaquille O'Neal, and LeBron James. It sounds like you're getting lost in your own delusions.

I guarantee you right now, Michael Jordan would absolutely smoke Bill Russell 1-on-1.☕

It's enough that Balic has made a name for himself in Europe. Let the Americans keep obsessing over those thugs in the NFL—half of them probably have a criminal record anyway. Look, I’m not hating on the NFL, I actually love the sport, but seriously, who cares what your average American thinks?

Exactly. Same goes for how much the average American cares about what some random person back home thinks. For crying out loud, Babe Ruth played baseball, not football. Pretty sure we were talking about Babe Ruth.

Jason Fisher78 said:Here’s the reality of the situation:

Michael Jordan arrived in Chicago in '84. They achieved absolutely nothing that year. A year later? Still nothing. Third year? Same story. So, for those first three seasons, Jordan didn't do a single damn thing to improve the Bulls' performance. They weren't even hitting a .500 winning percentage at the end of any of those years. But then, some actual talent like Horace Grant and Scottie Pippen join the roster, and suddenly, things move. They finally break the 50% mark and make it to the Eastern Conference semifinals. It was a slow build, filling out the roster, until they eventually snagged three titles. Then Jordan settles down, and the rest of the guys finish just two wins shy of a better record, losing a ring because of one robbed game. He comes back, and the season is actually worse than before because they lost Grant in the meantime. Basically, Jordan can't drag a team to a win without help. Then Dennis Rodman shows up to fill that missing hole, becomes the league's top rebounder for years, and boom—three more titles. After he leaves for that mediocre Washington Wizards team, they go right back to being nothing. All this media talk about how he carries teams, how he's the sole reason for the rings, and how wherever he lands, trophies follow? That's just pure mythology.

It's crystal clear: he's a great scorer who wouldn't have come close to those titles if the front office hadn't built him a real supporting cast and given him a coach. You can't leave Phil Jackson out of that equation either.

Oh, give me a break. You're saying Jordan "settles down" and that they lost the ring because of some bad call in the Eastern Conference semifinals? 🤦
If my grandmother had a penis, she'd be a man.

By the way, I assume your favorite, Bill Russell, was playing one-on-five unlike Michael Jordan?
Overrated athletes? in Other Sports ·
darkpilot9 said:You could argue that you can't really compare Bill Russell to Michael Jordan, but Kobe Bryant and Michael Jordan? That's a fair fight. So, let's settle this: who's more overrated, Kobe or MJ?

http://bleacherreport.com/articles/4...jordan-is-king

The article says it all.
As for Kobe Bryant, Michael Jordan never played on a roster as stacked as those Los Angeles Lakers. And when the Lakers grabbed those first three titles during the Bryant era, Shaquille O'Neal was the man running the show and taking home the 3x Finals MVP trophies. Kobe was just the second option back then. Michael Jordan was never anyone's second option.
