Admin duties... in Feedback & Suggestions ·
Joshua Roberts said:Some people just can't seem to grasp that this isn't about Lastan or Bradley Sanders or Jim or Matt.
The issue here is double standards. You permit yourself the very behavior you prohibit in others.

Similarly, you penalize posts from two different users—who, according to the rules of Forum.hr, deserve equal "recognition"—in completely different ways (if at all), depending solely on whether you agree with one over the other.

And if the site administrator is already online, let them actually do their job.

Furthermore, this isn't about ŽK or gutanje; it's about the management of Forum.hr. The whole thing.
As for pulling the "you don't know the background" card: You have no idea what's happening behind the scenes, and that argument only carries weight if you actually explain the context to us.

Are you absolutely certain that's what we're talking about here?😬
If I had to sum this up in a nutshell—and I mean a really tiny one—it would be about whether the admins are being generous enough with bans, and before that, whether the users are dancing on thin ice.
To me, it seems like the real topic is the gracefulness of the performance itself. Like, are the skaters the only ones to blame when the ice starts cracking under their feet?

Sarah Doyle54 said:I suppose for some people, three days doesn't even register because they’re so preoccupied with their famous "real life," and if we follow that line of reasoning, we might as well just hand out week-long bans right off the bat just to be safe. (oops, shoot, I have a nagging feeling that someone out there might actually take a liking to that idea 😬

Honestly, I think you should probably wrap this up while you still can.😬 Things aren't exactly heading in a great direction here! If you keep being this convincing, someone is going to wake up one day and decide that maybe a 100-point threshold is a perfectly reasonable limit for a permanent ban.

Lisa Hernandez3 said:The issue here is that mellowraven22's conclusion doesn't actually follow from the topic at all. Even if I take the part where they address the cliques into account, I think the discussion points were clear from the get-go. It seemed obvious to me from the start that this thread wasn't being allowed to grow because there's some constructive goal in mind—it's more like it’s being held back until the timing feels right to finally shut it down. Still, I don't think that should be how we approach these conversations.

It might be useful to look closely at the actual content being debated, and perhaps see whether "cliques" are forming before or after certain questions are raised. If it happens afterward, maybe we aren't dealing with cliques at all, but rather just a large enough group of us who recognize the core issue? It isn't necessarily true that this was a forced topic (I would have been strongly against that, and I've voiced my opposition to similar examples—even within the moderator circle—that I felt fell into that category), but it's possible that something which initially slipped under the radar—maybe due to routine or just general chaos?—only gained significance through a later, more articulated complaint. I wonder, would things have played out differently if someone else, say someone from within the inner circle, had been the one to spot the problem instead of me?

Well... I feel like the timing just isn't quite right from an administrative standpoint! I mean, honestly, trying to use a single ten-page post as my main argument for closing this down feels a little bit silly, especially since the topic itself hasn't actually been deleted yet.
You could look at it as a real force of nature, but I also see it as a tiny crack in the door being left open, since things were allowed to progress to some extent. But hey, you know me—I’m a total optimist!
It would honestly be such a huge help if we could take a closer look at the specific topics everyone is actually debating, just to see if any real patterns or trends are starting to emerge! I just can't help but smile whenever I see those little "likes" popping up on my screen! It’s such a tiny thing, really, but honestly, seeing that little burst of digital affection truly makes my day and gives me such a wonderful little boost of energy! I guess it really comes down to whether we should dive into those specific questions right away or if it’s better to wait until things have officially kicked off! Maybe we shouldn't jump to conclusions about bot farms or click farms just yet! Honestly, it might just be that there’s actually a decent number of us out here who genuinely care about this topic and want to chime in. It’s not even necessary to argue whether this was an attempt to hijack the topic, because honestly, I would have been strongly against that from the get-go! I actually found myself pushing back against certain previous examples—even some of the moderator posts—that I felt definitely crossed the line into that territory. Is it actually possible for something to fly completely under the radar at first—maybe just because things were so routine or because we were all caught up in some sudden chaos—only to suddenly make perfect sense once it’s finally spelled out in a formal complaint? I can't help but wonder if the whole situation would have played out differently if someone else had been the one to spot the issue, like maybe an insider instead of me!

The mods were officially asked to weigh in on the registration situation, but they’ve stayed completely silent! So, I guess we're all just left sitting here playing a guessing game. Honestly, I’m still holding onto this little shred of hope that the whole thing just somehow slipped under their radar—because the longer this silence drags on, the harder it gets to make any sense of it at all. It’s not like they aren't around, but maybe they're just terrified of being the first ones to speak up? It feels like that classic case of groupthink where everyone ends up paralyzed by a sort of collective hesitation, passing the buck and practicing self-censorship until nobody wants to take the heat. Just total radio silence!

Honestly, that’s a huge part of why I’m sticking with the writing—even if all that recent nonsense really rubbed me the wrong way—because I just feel like it might make things a little easier for them to finally open up and find their voice!
mellowraven22 said:So? Nothing new here, they've always been complaining. They threw fits over jokes when a thread got shut down, they bitched about RiD once moderation actually started working properly, they complained about politics for a million different reasons, they even acted out over religion when they couldn't get a private subforum just for Catholics... See my point. This whining isn't anything new or special, and I'm definitely not wasting my precious time on it. It's just more of the same daily nonsense we've seen a ton of before, and we'll see plenty more of it. I've already made my stance clear and I don't have the energy to write a hundred-page manifesto just to justify myself again. If they don't like it, there's plenty of other stuff on the internet.

You can call that thread you closed yesterday whatever you want, but it only lasted a month, it was ten pages long, and you could count on one hand the posts that were even slightly rude.

Polite <> useful.

Just give me one sentence—why are you guys even complaining?

Oh my goodness, can you believe how incredibly hard—and, I might add, how wonderfully benevolent—I am trying to actually grasp the point you’re making here!
I honestly can’t help but laugh at myself sometimes, but I just had to share this little observation about how things can go completely unnoticed! It’s like that one tiny, invisible flaw that you swear everyone else can see, yet somehow stays totally hidden from view. It really makes you wonder about all the little things we miss in our daily lives, doesn't it?
I’m starting to get a little worked up about this too, almost as much as Lisa Hernandez3!
Even though this hits home for me on a personal level, she’s been incredibly articulate, well-reasoned, and straight to the point in all her posts over the last month. Honestly, I’m just over here popping like popcorn with pure joy because I can't believe you guys actually want to talk to us!
Honestly, this whole whining session isn't anything new, nor is it particularly special, and I really don't feel like spending too much energy on it; it's just one of those daily little gripes that we've seen a million times before and will likely see plenty more of in the future.

But hey, let's be fair—my point wasn't actually about the complaining itself, but rather about trying to stay polite and back things up with actual logic despite all the nagging.

If I could just have one sentence—what exactly is everyone getting upset about here?

[Speaking strictly for myself] I feel like this particular post falls under hate speech, but the real issue is the way the mod team is acting like a bunch of overbearing busybodies (similar to how they deleted that thread over on the General Discussion board), and the fact that the rest of the mods are staying silent even after multiple requests for clarification, which is what's truly controversial and should at least be open for debate in our main discussion area.

There are probably a thousand other issues, most of which I've already pointed out in previous threads, but if I have to boil it down to just one sentence... well, whatever it is, I won't ramble on forever, so thanks for coming to ask me! And I mean that sincerely, no irony intended, thanks for checking in.

mellowraven22, honestly, people can be such jerks sometimes! It feels like they just don't want to engage with us in any meaningful way, and then you start questioning why we’re just spinning our wheels in circles.
That thread you shut down yesterday? You could call it whatever you want, but let's be real—it lasted a full month, spanned ten whole pages, and if you actually counted, you could barely find a single post that was even slightly out of line. And again, just people being difficult.
We really do go out of our way to stay polite and keep things focused on actual arguments, even when nobody is responding to us, and even though this silence—this constant stalling of everything—is making us feel a little more arrogant than we’d like to be.
With so many topics and posts flying around, I really wish it would occur to anyone that there’s genuine effort being put in here, because we truly believe it’s worth the trouble.
How to walk away from a toxic relationship in Psychology & Therapy ·
Maybe you could try finding something you’re genuinely awesome at, just to give yourself a little boost of confidence and start feeling better about who you are! Honestly, I don't think getting tangled up with someone you have feelings for is the best move right now either; you really need to learn to love yourself and be perfectly happy on your own first, so that if you do get into a relationship later, it's actually a healthy one.

The whole situation you've got going on with this guy... well, you can see for yourself that it isn't working out, and frankly, it feels pretty self-destructive. If you keep going down this path, that friendship you two once shared is just going to turn into pure resentment. You should probably try to walk away from this as soon as you possibly can.

Wait, what do you mean it "melted"? What did you actually do to it? Did you leave it in your back pocket and then toss it in the washing machine next to a Duracell battery? I’ve gotta know!

Anyway, you could probably just use your state ID to cross the border from Canada into the US. Honestly, it might be better if you don't show them that melted passport as a valid document—they might actually try to fine you for it.

It felt like they just kept rambling on with endless lists of what you could and couldn't do without actually making much sense at all! It wasn't exactly their intention to suggest that we aren't allowed to stop and think things through twice!I mean, honestly, if you just went through and added "you aren't allowed to" to the front of every single one of those points, that’s pretty much exactly how it would end up looking!

Oh, come on now, honestly, I don't think we even need to be having this whole debate, because let's be real—we aren't exactly lacking any common sense here!
I honestly can't tell if that was actually an intentional little slip-up just to be charmingly cute or if they truly didn't realize what they were doing! 😬

:Azra:Pay attention to that last point. And to the other bolded parts too. (I messed up regarding the spam rule, but hey, I didn't mess up *that* badly, give me some credit!)

There you have it. So, those were how the rules looked previously. And if anyone tries to tell me that the new rules sound better than the old ones, I am going to be very offended!😬
Learning from my mistakes, I really feel like that bolded part shouldn't have been included, because honestly, it felt like such a cute little mistake.

Chloe Green61 said:We had to go ahead and rework the rules because we needed to officially include those new guidelines that have actually been in effect for quite a while now—we've already listed them out earlier! I totally get that it’s a bit frustrating for you since the layout looks different and the tone feels a lot less warm and fuzzy than what you were used to, but honestly, I’m just not quite sure how or why I could step in and change things back for you.

I honestly can’t even wrap my head around how we managed to pull that off, but goodness, it really is just wonderful!😬
I wouldn't say the new rules are unpleasant or bad or anything like that! They’re actually quite good, really. Just because I personally felt like the old ones suited me a little better doesn't mean these new ones are terrible, and I certainly haven't gone around saying they're so awful that we need to start picking sides and getting into a massive standoff!
I honestly can't quite wrap my head around why you’d be coming at me with something like this!

I really hope this is just another little misunderstanding—honestly, it’s probably my own fault this time! It almost feels like I’m coming across as if I'm holding a grudge against you all, but I promise that isn't the case at all; I am light-years away from being resentful, and if anything, I actually find you guys quite dear!😛
Rules are rules, after all—at the end of the day, they all basically boil down to the exact same thing!
Honestly, if reading their posts is getting under your skin like that, why even bother looking at them? Just turn a blind eye and move on!
If you’re really going to let a few clunky rules—which you probably already know by heart anyway, just like everyone else here—stop you from joining the conversation, then honestly, what can I even say to you? It's such a shame when things are written in such an unfriendly tone and tucked away in a thread that hardly anyone clicks on, but if that's enough to keep you from posting, then I guess there isn't much more I can do to help! 🤷 I really hope you can see how totally ridiculous it is when people start complaining about the subforum rules being written in such an unfriendly way, especially since the actual substance of those rules hasn't changed one bit!

I honestly feel like we’ve pretty much exhausted this whole topic, haven't we? It feels like there isn't much left for us to say! 🤷

I was just thinking about that hilarious story Kishonov told once, where he joked about how nobody would even bother proofreading his work anymore because everyone would be left guessing whether he actually made a typo or if he was just pulling our leg!
Man, those old rules felt so outdated, like they were straight out of a history book! We used to have this super laid-back, joking vibe where the guidelines were just... well, a little broken. Honestly, looking back at that error, you could easily convince yourself it was either a total accident or something done on purpose—and honestly, the whole thing worked perfectly either way!

I feel like I’m struggling to get my point across today, though I suppose that might be because I just finished working a grueling double shift at the hospital... so please bear with me! This is my absolute last attempt at explaining this, but let me be clear: it wasn't some tiny, outdated little PC that was the problem here, it was more about how that spunky waitress at the diner was being incredibly wasteful with everything, if you know what I mean!

Chloe Green61 said:Nina, everything that was written in the old rules until last night remains completely untouched 😁 Literally! Every single sentence. They just added the extra stuff that needed adding. I honestly don't know when you last checked the rulebook 😬

Oh, come on, don't tell me that, because it's just not true!😠 Maybe you guys shook my confidence a little regarding what I remembered about trolling and chat etiquette, but I am 100% certain—I'd bet my life on it—that there was definitely something about "unwanted behavior" requiring people to think twice before they act.

I'm still not quite following: are you complaining because the rules aren't written in a friendly way, or because someone removed trolling and chatting from the "welcome" list?

Maybe Wylie can explain it to you, because I have a funny feeling she actually understands perfectly and is just playing dumb. Such a little troublemaker! :

I will say this one more time 🧐 : the old rules, prior to last night's edit, haven't been touched. We simply added those rules that were already being enforced on the subforum anyway, even if they weren't formally listed in the guidelines.

😕Wait, as a mod, can you actually see what that post looked like before? Someone once explained to me that's how the system works.
And if you can, please take a look at all the bullet points that were under the red section labeled "what isn't preferred/allowed" (I'm not sure of the exact wording, but the key is what was under the red text).
There are no new rules.

Oh, I know there aren't "new" ones, it's the "rephrased" ones that are bothering me! And since those rephrased versions are newer than the original ones (see how much smarter I'm sounding?), I just called them "new."
I don't think dustyranger64 and I are really the types to draft rules with a friendly touch 😳, and I feel like people would take them way less seriously if they were written in such a jokey style—besides, people don't follow them strictly enough as it is.

You just shouldn't have messed with the "old" ones. They were perfectly fine.

dustyranger64 said:I really think you've got a point there.
Honestly, though, we don't have the budget to hire specialized "politeness consultants" just to soften things up, and being super sweet isn't exactly the main goal—or even a secondary one—of the rules. Their whole purpose is to make sure everyone takes the guidelines seriously, rather than just going, "Oh please, if it's not too much trouble, let's try not to be mean, okay?"

🤷Personally, I always felt the old way of doing things worked pretty well too.
Nah, they don't have to like them. They might just choose not to reject them. There isn't anything in those rules that would stop a decent, well-mannered person from wanting to hang out on Microsoft.

Oh, they absolutely have to! I mean, I definitely know what needs to happen for me to actually sit down and write on PDF. It's not like anyone is holding a gun to my head forcing me to post on this forum or any other. I write wherever I feel like it, trust me on that!

Before I jump into posting on this new PDF thread, I’m going to make sure I sit down and actually read through all the rules first. If anyone decides to tack on any new updates to the old guidelines, you can bet I'll be reading those too! I know, I know—you might see that massive update with all the caps lock in the pinned topic and think, "Why on earth is she being so cautious about the rules?" But honestly, it was just such a struggle to resist adding that little "~RELOADED~" tag to my title!
Oh, Bob, please don't do this to me! I really don't need the extra headache of having to explain to the mods why I'm actually sitting here reading through all the rules.😠
I really don't want to come across as arrogant, or like I'm trying to brag, but...

Look, I really don't want to get into any accusations of being arrogant because that’s honestly not what I'm about at all! I'd much rather steer clear of that kind of negativity and just keep things moving forward, so let's just move on, shall we?
I mean, let’s be honest, the whole point of the rules isn't actually to make them sound all sweet and charming!

I mean, honestly, things can't be all that bad if she happens to be, you know, incredibly charming on top of everything else!
I mean, honestly, it isn't exactly "chick lit," so there is absolutely no requirement for it to chase after trends or try too hard to win everyone over! 😁

I have to say, I really can't get on board with that perspective! It just makes sense that I’d want to enjoy myself here, especially if I'm going to be spending my time posting and engaging with everyone!
Everything that’s been added lately was actually already being done behind the scenes—we were basically just winging it—but now, finally, it’s all been officially written down in the rulebook! It’s funny because those rules hadn't even been properly documented for years, and honestly, they’ve been shifting around constantly as we went along.

I'm not really trying to make a point about those additives, because honestly, I don't have anything against them! My heart just stays with the old ways, like how much better everything felt back when Geška was around—man, I truly miss those days.
Moving forward, let's just say that trolling and chatty nonsense have never really been part of the vibe here, nor were they ever written into our original community guidelines! 😕

I can't quite recall the exact wording off the top of my head, but I'm pretty sure it went something along those lines! Honestly, I'm positive about that.
So, here’s the deal: the rules haven't actually changed! We just took the post and added all that extra info you already know about and that's already being put into practice. To be perfectly honest, I'm having a little bit of a hard time wrapping my head around the actual purpose or the motivation behind this appeal you're making. 😁

Well, here we go... I'm just trying to explain my side of things, and honestly, I'm not even sure if I'm making sense! But, look, you're the one actually signing off on these changes, while I'm just the person starting this thread, so it's pretty hard for us to be totally on the same page here.😬

I mean, seriously, I know this is such a long shot—like, trying to get back to how things used to be feels almost impossible at this point—but I just felt like I had to at least try.😢

I’m talking about this specific thing. I know those of you who just joined this forum can't see how things used to be written, but maybe some old-timers out there remember. And the mods, from what I gather, have access to the archives and can see how everything looked before.
So, honestly, these new rules hit me right in the gut. Good grief, why on earth did you feel the need to go and change everything?😢

I don't know them all by heart right now, but I distinctly remember that in the previous version, there was this wonderfully chaotic little loophole regarding what wasn't allowed on the FBI boards which wasn't quite strictly forbidden, which meant things like grammar and spelling were handled loosely, and it even mentioned how trolling and lively chat were actually encouraged... stuff like that.😬

Those rules were just wonderful. They felt human. You could tell the mods were people too, and even though things were a bit silly sometimes, everyone knew where they stood. It was one of those places where, as soon as you logged on, you felt right at home. It created such a cozy vibe, at least for me.
There was even a part about how you weren't supposed to think twice before hitting post, which is exactly when I felt most like myself here.😍

And those rules stayed exactly like that for years(!) without anyone ever having an issue with them.
It’s hard to believe the other moderators haven't read them either, right?
🤔
😱
😈

FBI mods... please, bring back the old rules.🙂 You used to hand out badges for trolling despite the rules, and they were just so charmingly written.

Oh, and since I seem to be having a run of misunderstandings lately, let me be crystal clear so there's no confusion: I am truly not trying to troll with this thread, I'm not joking around, and I genuinely miss the way things used to be.

So, if you manage to pull off a 45-point run while that penalty stays active, you're looking at... Sixty days have flown by already! It looks like you might have cut off mid-sentence there! I'm all ears and ready to jump back into the conversation whenever you're ready to finish that thought. What was on your mind? Well, someone decided to get a little bit out of line and throw some seriously nasty insults at our community members today! It’s honestly such a bummer when things take a turn like this, because I always try to stay on the bright side, but wow, that was just plain rude. Let's all just take a deep breath and remember we're here to be decent to one another, okay? I honestly can’t believe I’m actually looking at this right now, but it looks like we might be heading toward a cool little bonus where you can snag 500 points just for sticking around through the duration of the card! Just twenty days to go! I can hardly believe how quickly the time is flying by, but I am genuinely getting so excited for what's coming up!Honestly, I’d probably just end up throwing myself at him, too!
I mean, I totally get that hitting 500 points comes with a seven-day ban attached to it, but I’m still sitting here scratching my head over why the warning itself doesn't seem to last quite as long!

Haha, honestly, I wouldn't go that route myself. We definitely need to be way tougher on those habitual offenders who just keep coming back!😬

Anyway, does anyone know where I can find the breakdown of how long a suspension lasts based on the point threshold? I know I 😬read this somewhere once, but I am totally blanking on where it was located.
(The search bar isn't being very helpful either—it seems to pull up everything from the entire Terms of Service whenever I type in "suspension duration.")
If my memory serves me right, a 500-point penalty actually lasted a shorter amount of time than, say, a 100-point one. If I'm remembering correctly, why on earth would that be the case?
