SURVEY
This survey is completely anonymous, and all the data gathered will be used solely for my final university project, which focuses on studying communication patterns between patrons and librarians. The target audience is users of the public library system.
First off, good luck with that final paper!
Secondly, I think your survey might be a little bit off-target—if your
target audience is specifically public library users, but you're conducting the study to improve user-librarian communication, then question number 4 doesn't quite make sense.
If you're trying to survey the entire general population, then defining a specific target audience doesn't work either.
So, it looks like either your sample stratification is a bit wonky or the survey itself isn't quite valid.
But hey, let's dive in:
1. Gender: Female
2. Age: 29
3. Education Level:
Completed: Enrolled:
University University
4. Do you use public library services? Yes
5. How many times a month do you visit your local library? 2-3
6. What are your most common reasons for using the library? (Please select 1 or 2 reasons)
Checking out books for leisure
7. Are you usually the one to initiate communication with librarians at the circulation desk or in the reading area? (Scale: 1 - never, 5 - always) 5
8. How would you rate your communication with the librarians? (1 - poor, 5 - excellent) 4
9. When communicating with librarians, do you notice their tone of voice, pace, or manner of speaking? Yes
10. How attentively does a librarian listen when you explain what you need, and do they seem genuinely helpful? (1 - not at all, 5 - absolutely) 5
11. How would you rate the effort librarians put into doing their jobs? (1 - minimal, 5 - maximum) 5
12. What suggestions do you have to make communication with librarians better and more efficient?
This applies only to the libraries I personally visit:-Physically separating the circulation/return desk from the reading room and the book stacks would be great. It bothers me having to talk (and explain exactly what literature I'm looking for) in a whisper.
