The ban just got tossed

The FIA 🤦 finally

gave in.

mistybear87 said:The blown diffusers from the Spanish Embassy are officially a thing of the past.

Basically, those blown diffusers work by keeping the throttle engaged through the corner, ensuring the exhaust gases are constantly pumping out at high pressure. It’s a clever way to massively boost the downforce generated by the diffuser.

However, the FIA has stepped in and capped the throttle opening during braking at just 10% of its maximum value.

What’s really interesting here is that while almost every team will feel the sting of this change, there’s a strong suspicion that certain teams are going to lose a much larger chunk of their performance than others.

According to the article, McLaren believes their whole strategy for closing the gap to Red Bull relies heavily on their engine mapping. With this new rule, that entire advantage could be completely wiped out.

We'll just have to wait and see how the teams manage to adapt this weekend. Who knows? Some of us might even find ourselves rethinking our predictions. 😬

Horner🙂

We’re winning, so obviously everyone’s out to get us. 🙂

Otherwise, this could actually be a killer weekend with this rule change hitting. I'm hoping it cranks up the tension at the front of the pack, even if just a little bit. But honestly, looking at how things are going right now, Red Bull (mostly Vettel) looks so dominant that one single regulation tweak—which basically hits everyone anyway—might be exactly what they need to slow down and hand the lead over to McLaren or whoever else is lurking.

Why?

I just showed that he’s only human, nothing more. Honestly, seeing him struggle like that actually makes me respect his greatness even more.
Look, it wasn't even about creating a bottleneck up front; the mess was happening right in the middle.
Big deal. 🤷

Why all the mystification surrounding these idols? At the end of the day, they’re just people like the rest of us—maybe with some freakish talent or a specific trait that sets them apart from the average Joe, but that's it. They're just human.
No icons, for crying out loud. 😁

It's not about mystifying any idols. Besides, he couldn't even be my idol since I didn't watch a single race he competed in until last season.

The point is, this guy is a seven-time world champion. When a driver like that lines up on the grid, he wants to win. He wants podiums. He wants to be at least 4th or 5th in the standings. Let's not forget he hasn't finished below 5th place since his first full F1 season.

But, even if we ignore all that and look at one massive fact—the fact that he's driving a garbage car—he can't even beat his younger teammate who is sitting in the exact same machine. And it's not like that kid has done anything mind-blowing so far; he's decent, but he should be way more competitive than he is.

Anyway, let's toss the results, the points, and the standings aside for a second. What really bugs me—and what people have been saying for a while now—is that he's lost the passion and the drive to race. Yeah, that's directly tied to everything I just mentioned, but that's the bigger issue here.

I watched his interview on the BBC after Turkey, and you can see it in his eyes, his body language, even his words—the guy is crushed. But it's not just being bummed out by a result with the hope and determination that things will improve next race. It's being disappointed without any of that grit left. It's like he's just exhausted by everything and is just waiting for the season to be over. And we're only four races in.

Bottom line, I think everyone is disappointed with his results and points, which is a pretty big deal in this situation, but the real kicker is that spark in his driving. It's gone. And that's the main reason he'll probably retire way sooner than expected, if you ask me.
Honestly, watching Schumi go through this is just painful. I get it—people have their opinions, calling him dirty or unfair or whatever, and yeah, some folks probably get a kick out of seeing him struggle like this. But if I were in their shoes? Man, I’d feel terrible for a guy who conquered everything there was to conquer in his career, only to spend these last couple of seasons spiraling like this.

It feels like he's just drowning in frustration. It isn't even about the car being a lemon; it's the fact that his younger teammate is absolutely smoking him on track. I mean, does anything actually change during the spring or summer stretch leading up to Singapore? Honestly, it would surprise me more if he actually showed up on the grid next year than if he just pulls the plug a few races before the season ends. That third scenario seems like the most likely outcome. He didn't come back to fight for 12th place—scraping together a point here and there against guys like Renault's Vitaly Petrov, Adrian Sutil, or Buemi. He came back to be right up there in the standings, if not staring down a podium finish.

What a disaster. Just a pathetic end for a legend and an absolute F1 icon.

gentlegull93 said:I’ve been chewing on this for a bit and reached a conclusion: when I’m listening to stuff I know is solid and fits my mood, it totally recharges my batteries and my soul. But when I’m hunting for new bands, I just don't get that spark unless I stumble onto something that actually hits hard, which is 🙂 and since that doesn't happen constantly, I guess I've clearly lost the drive.

Exactly. I'm signing off on this. 🙏 Honestly, that's one of the main reasons I haven't been digging around for new sounds lately. Look, it's probably not even the biggest factor—that's just the chronic lack of free time. Even if they gave me 48 hours in a day, it still wouldn't be enough—but it's definitely part of it.

It’s simple. Like, say I get home from college early in the afternoon, feeling pretty wiped out, and depending on how I'm feeling, I already know exactly what kind of music will hit the spot. I know which old favorites are gonna "click" perfectly right now. Especially if it’s something I love but haven't spun in, I don't know, the last ten days or so. I don't have the mental energy to go hunting, and even if I tried, I wouldn't get the results I want, so I just end up pissed off when the new stuff turns out to be garbage.

One of those rare times when an album blew my mind on the very first listen was Television's Marquee Moon. 🙏 Most of the stuff I love today wasn't an instant crush for me during the first two or three listens. For instance, I didn't really get Haustor at first and just pushed them aside, but then one day I revisited Third World and suddenly realized it was some of the best stuff I'd ever heard (and it's still at the absolute top for me 🙏🙏). It was a similar story with EKV—for whatever reason, I wasn't really feeling them initially because they were Mexicans 🤷, nothing political about it, they just weren't as close to my heart back then as they are now.

Anyway, if I had more time, I'd probably be digging way more, maybe picking up a few albums a month (and that's being generous), but yeah, I do have one buddy who has way more time on his hands and a massive library, so every once in a while I'll burn a DVD from him and just "refresh" my rotation. 😁

Look, against Mexico, it was basically just him and Vori actually putting up an offense. Everyone else? Just standing there like statues.

Kyle Torres60 said:what’s the goal difference looking like for the Spaniards and the French?

It’s a dead heat, both at +7, once the Spaniards finish their match and the French wrap theirs up. I wouldn't bet against the French taking that top spot, even if they only edge it out on goal difference.

Look, besides the fact that we played noticeably better—though it’s hard to put an exact number on just how much better—I honestly feel like the Argentines got spooked. They saw us as a legitimate handball powerhouse and realized they were facing a whole new level of competition in this second round. So, yeah, the truth is we were the superior side, but let's be real: more serious teams aren't going to just sit there and let us dominate like that. They won't be impressed by a fluke performance, so this isn't the actual baseline for us. Like I said before, we'll find out where we truly stand tomorrow.

They finished 18th at the last World Championship right here in the States. They haven't beaten a decent team since 2003. ( 😬 ).

And now they lose to the Swedes by 5? Those guys have been crushing it at the championships and play like they’ve owned the place for 10 years straight. 🙏

hm, reminds me of someone... 🤔 😬
Were the Americans and Danes playing without a goalie or what...? 🤷 😁

Everything's already been laid out, so there’s zero point in rehashing why we need Mamin back. I'm officially jumping on board with this movement, and I'm seriously hoping it finally works out—for both Mamin and everyone hanging out on the Formula 1 PDF forum.

Same exact thing is happening to me. Sometimes I try to submit a report and the damn thing won't even register—not once, not twice, but three times in a row. It's ridiculous. Really hoping there's a fix coming for this soon.

Look, if we’re gonna talk about Turkey AGAIN, you know we’ve already gone back and forth on this a million times. But, TBF, there’s one part where I actually have to give you credit. The real issue in this whole heated debate you’re having with Gil (and all the other guys jumping in from both sides) is that you two are just looking at the exact same situation through two totally different lenses.
Your whole angle is that this is basically teammates cannibalizing each other. You see them fighting and throwing points away, which screws over Red Bull's chances at the Constructors' title and messes with their shot at the Drivers' championship—which, by the way, would actually help the second Red Bull driver too.
On the flip side, Gil is looking at this strictly as a pure fight between two top-tier drivers who want every single point possible to boost their own chances of winning the title. That’s his bottom line.

If you frame it like that, honestly, you're both right. On one hand, Mark Webber can't just move out of the way for Sebastian Vettel because they are both neck-and-neck in the hunt for the championship; they're essentially equals. On the other hand, Webber *should* back off, because by staying in the way of a faster Vettel, he’s cranking up the risk of a crash that would absolutely wreck the team. And hey, Gil’s argument that they aren't equal falls apart if Webber is forced to yield; since they're technically on level ground, Webber has every right to defend his spot. It really just comes down to which perspective you buy into, but let's be real—everyone knows both sides exist and there's logic behind both arguments.

As for me? Personally, I lean more toward the "drivers fighting for the title" side of things. That's why we kept clashing about it, even though I’m not denying that Webber's move was incredibly stupid when you look at what's best for the team.
