It's hitting 105 degrees... in Health ·
We don't have AC at my place, just some heavy shutters and glass, and it’s already 82 degrees in here. 👍

I need to head downtown but I keep putting it off—I'm seriously going to die the second I step outside, I swear 🤣

Linda Gonzalez5 said:People are talking about Vaginalettes—can I actually grab those over the counter at a drugstore without a prescription? My doctor and OBGYN are way too 124 miles far away right now...?!?!

Someone please give me some advice🙏

Look, how long are you going to be "far away"? If it's just for a few days, just hit up a local CVS or Walgreens, ask the pharmacist for advice, and maybe try putting a tampon soaked in LGG yogurt or taking Lactogyn probiotics. Once you're back home, go see a gynecologist. It’s honestly risky trying to diagnose an infection through the internet; you could have a specific bacterial issue that requires actual swabs to identify.

If you moved permanently, find a new doctor. Check out the women's corner subforum—there's a thread there with recommendations for doctors. You need someone who actually has openings so you can switch over immediately.

Have you even tried chewing your food? 😁

Which pills specifically? 🙂

Now that nimblepanther23 posted, I feel like I saw some stuff about zinc being mentioned on this forum too...

I deal with those breakouts all through the summer. It’s just my stomach and chest that stay clear.
My dermatologist actually told me that this is just how my skin type works.

Pills for a pimple in an awkward place? Are you kidding me? Does that even exist?

Try using some Desitin diaper rash cream instead. 😁 I'm dead serious. 😁
Just a heads up, this sub is the Women's Corner. 🙂

Nah... mostly I just eat like I’ve got a permanent layer of lint stuck in my throat—that's what my preschool teacher used to tell me back in the day (so yeah, I've always been this way 😁) and honestly, it drives everyone around me absolutely nuts. 🙂

fadedbear8 said:How the hell can you split up someone else's quote?

Like, what if you want to reply to their first three sentences, drop your own thought, then pull out a couple more of their lines, add your response again, and so on... basically, how do you break up someone's text when quoting?

And how do you quote from several different people at once?

Copy and paste. 😁

Just highlight the text you want to quote, copy it, and paste it into a new post. Then, in that new post, highlight it again and hit the "quote" button—you know, the one that looks like a little comic book speech bubble.
Then just type the user's name manually.
PHP Code:
 [CODE][COLOR=#000000] [COLOR=#007700][[/COLOR][COLOR=#0000BB]QUOTE[/COLOR][COLOR=#007700]=[/COLOR][COLOR=#0000BB]fadedbear8[/COLOR][COLOR=#007700]][/COLOR][COLOR=#0000BB]How can you split up a[/COLOR][COLOR=#007700]&[/COLOR][COLOR=#FF8000]#269;s quote?[/COLOR]
[COLOR=#007700][/[/COLOR][COLOR=#0000BB]QUOTE[/COLOR][COLOR=#007700]] [/COLOR][/COLOR]
[/CODE]

Look, you just type
yourself, then add =nickname... check the example above to see how it looks. You just keep repeating that copy-paste dance for every single sentence you want to pull out. 🙂

Exactly. Who needs a doctor when you've got this forum? 😍
Maria Wright35 said:Alright, one more question, and I promise I won't keep pestering you all... I was reading some stuff online that suggests if your period doesn't show up within two weeks of having sex during your fertile window, that's the first sign of pregnancy. Is there actually any truth to that? It sounds a bit too much like a miracle to me... and please, just don't start throwing criticisms my way again...

And why is it "crazy"? You ovulated, the egg got fertilized, it implanted, and that's it... why on earth would a woman have her period?

Look, just read it. I see you were out sick from school that day. 😁

Weight loss pills: What actually works? in Health ·
Jose Miller3 said:GSK hit us yesterday let us know that they just got the green light from the FDA orlistat to offer their big-name weight loss med to patients "over the counter"—meaning no prescription required.

The drug is going to be called Alli. Honestly, even the name gives away GSK’s whole strategy here: you aren't magically going to melt away, but it's supposed to be your "best ally" while you work on losing weight!

It's pretty huge news, so I figured, hey, let's actually talk about this 🙂

We’ve actually touched on orlistat before on the forums—back when people were discussing those girls who were taking Xenical and seeing some serious results. Xenical uses the exact same active ingredient, except the Alli version has half the strength, and obviously, you used to need a doctor's note for that one.

So, a few things are weighing on my mind:
1) What do you guys think about someone just walking into a CVS or Walgreens and grabbing something that is (almost guaranteed) to cause some pretty nasty side effects? We've talked about the side effects before, but just to recap: constant, uncontrollable diarrhea, gas... GSK claims these issues will be less intense because the dose is lower, but let's be real, they're big pharma... who's actually going to take their word for it? 😁 😁
2) Do you think this might backfire? People rarely read the fine print on medication labels. It'll be tough for folks to realize that Alli isn't a magic bullet on its own—you still have to cut calories and watch your fat intake for it to even work. Are people just going to eat more and then act shocked when the scale doesn't budge?
3) If you aren't dealing with severe obesity 🤔, would you actually pick something like this up? Something that might help you speed up the process if you actually stay disciplined? And how much would you be willing to shell out for it?

Alright, I'm listening. 🙂 Just please don't give me two and a half answers after I spent half an hour setting up this thread... 😁

From what I can tell, if the crowd keeps stuffing themselves with greasy food, that fat is just going to leak right out of them without them doing a damn thing. So... if they're happy about that, fine by me. 😁
Sandra Campbell9 said:I haven't even been to a doctor since forever.

Just go there. Tell them your stomach is killing you and you've got some light bleeding. Grab a magazine and sit tight until they call you in. 😁

(I’m being dead serious—my wife has a list of emergency symptoms taped right to the wall by her nurse at the clinic. Anything suggesting inflammation or discharge gets her seen the same day or the next. Yeah, you might have to wait a bit, but it beats waiting weeks for an appointment.)
Allergies to cat and dog hair in Health ·
Mine cleared up super fast, basically just went away on its own. I didn't even bother seeing my doctor. Both my cats had the exact same thing happen. Fingers crossed yours goes just as quick. 😁
I was supposed to take my first pill on Saturday night. It’s Monday now—I’ve missed two.

Should I follow the instructions that say, "if you're more than 12 hours late from your usual time, or if you've been vomiting or had diarrhea, just get back on track with the remaining pills at your regular time to avoid breakthrough bleeding," or is there something else I should do since I missed the very first one? The lady at CVS wasn't even sure herself. She told me to just take pill 19, like nothing happened... but then she suggested I might need to take a break. When I asked her if it was smart to just decide to take a break on my own, she switched back and said just take them like normal. Now I don't trust a word she says. 😁

Look, I know I'm not protected against pregnancy this month. You don't need to spell that out for me. I can't see my OBGYN until tomorrow afternoon, so I need advice on what to do... right now. 😁 Do I take them or not? Argh! I'm trying to reach a second doctor, but I'm asking you guys just in case.

If anyone knows what to do or has been through this, please help. I'd really appreciate an answer. 🙂

edit: The second doctor told me to just take pill 19 like normal. Mods can close this thread. I'd delete it myself but the forum won't let me. 😁
Sandra Ross27 said:Edward Green, you clearly have a terrible eye doctor. I’ve dealt with prescription mismatches before too, but the only time I had a disaster was when some "genius" sub doc filled in for my regular ophthalmologist while he was on vacation, and those lenses gave me a massive migraine. I don't get why you didn't just file a complaint immediately to get a re-check and a new pair of lenses??? One side was probably way off, either too strong or too weak.

I honestly will never understand why some people are so insecure about wearing glasses. There is zero shame in being nearsighted and rocking frames. These days, you can find basically any style you want at any shop. It blows my mind that people won't even take a simple step to fix their own comfort.
🤣William Thomas3, you'd be better off just getting LASIK. Or maybe just DIY it in your garage.

Look, I'm talking about a stretch of time where I cycled through a few different eye doctors and several pairs of glasses, and my head still throbbed the whole time. 🙂 For a while, I actually walked around without any corrective lenses at all because anything was better than those constant headaches. Ever since I switched to contacts, the headaches stopped and I can actually see. It's been six years like this. It works for me, and frankly, I don't give a damn whether whoever you saw before was competent or not.😁
Sandra Ross27 said:Man, give me a break. If you're sitting at a -4.00 prescription like I am, you better have some backup glasses. This isn't just about squinting at the TV; it's about driving. Imagine losing a contact lens and being totally stranded because you can't see a damn thing behind the wheel without your glasses...

I've got a -2.75 and a -4.75, and honestly, I don't even own glasses. Back when I used them—before the contacts—they gave me splitting headaches after wearing them for even a little while. Apparently, it was because the difference between the two lenses was too much. So, I spent more time without them than with them, and I managed just fine. Now? Without my contacts, I feel completely lost.😁

Bottom line: if I lose my contacts, I've got some emergency cash tucked away. Worst case scenario, I'm stuck for a few days waiting for a new shipment to arrive. I know I can handle it—I survived pink eye once, I can survive this.😬

Besides, I don't drive anyway. If I miss my bus, I'll just ask someone for the route number.🤣
