nimblewalker58 said:Wait, didn't we just have a discussion about journalists less than a month ago? Why isn't this post about Jergović attached to that one instead of starting an entirely new thread? 🤷

1. This thread is specifically about Jergović and his take on the crimes committed by Tito’s era and the partisans.
2. If it really was the same topic like you claim, why wouldn't the moderator just merge it with the thread you're 'linking' to?
3. How much more logical reasoning does a moderator need before they provide a coherent explanation for locking a thread?

The only conclusion I can draw here—especially considering how they handled the discussion regarding the atrocities at the Barbarin Trench—is that topics dealing with partisan or Tito-era crimes, and pointing out the shameful attitude of the media and certain wannabe opinion-makers toward them, simply don't align with this forum's editorial policy. In other words, the moderators themselves seem to be part of the same circle as Jergović.

And frankly, I don't see any reason why they shouldn't just say that publicly. Let us know where we actually stand.
Instead of being transparent, they choose to make excuses—or rather, they troll and provoke users who hold different political convictions or different views on that period of history, doing it in such a blatantly obvious way.

from frequently asked questions

6) Why was the thread locked?
Because the mods can't clear out the trash being generated by users fast enough to keep things under control. Once they've cleaned it up sufficiently and decide it's necessary, they will reopen it.

But the thread wasn't even open for a few hours; there wasn't even enough time for people to sign up, let alone for a massive debate to break out...

So, are we really going to sit here and go around questioning why certain threads keep getting shut down again? Is this actually going to be a thing?
It isn’t exactly arrogance, is it? Sarah Wilson95Honestly, it’s just that classic scenario where people were politely asked—long ago, mind you—to stop doing those kinds of things, yet some still insist on carrying them out anyway. Why is it that even after a reasonable request, certain individuals feel the need to push those same boundaries? It's almost like they're waiting for someone to tell them "no" just so they can ignore it.

Five topics that start out looking like pure trolling, evolve into full-blown trolling, and then—after all that noise—leave you wondering what the hell was the point of any of it. Nathan Bailey65And just how exactly would those topics end up? Honestly, where does that all lead?

The bottom line is this: you’ve been politely asking people to show some restraint for a long time now. We’ve asked you to stop the blatant rudeness, quit biting at every provocation, and move away from all those shady insinuations and the constant habit of slapping labels on other members here at Mad House. It’s an uncomfortable truth, but let’s be real—certain behaviors went unchecked for a while simply because this was Mad House. But there’s a massive difference between the kind of banter Sarah Wilson95 is talking about and what this place has actually devolved into. One is just messing around; the other is a complete transformation into something else entirely.
Is it really that much to ask? Is it truly such an impossible task to have a civil conversation and actually exchange ideas without immediately resorting to ad hominem attacks, constant labeling, and dragging the discourse down to such a pathetic level that even the most godforsaken nations on this planet would be ashamed?

If you honestly still believe that the only reason they changed the PDF filename was to personally annoy you, then I’m at a total loss. How else are we supposed to talk sense into people?

I’ll wrap this up here once and for all. Look, Sarah Wilson95, nobody is stopping you from asking questions—you’ve always had that right—but since none of the moderators over at the main News Forum actually bother to respect or acknowledge any of the answers provided, I see zero point in continuing to beat my head against the wall on this thread. Why keep repeating myself when the leadership clearly isn't listening?

If you’re going to act as moderator, why is your only move to shut everything down? It feels like you're just closing doors instead of actually managing the room. Honestly, more than half of these threads could have evolved into genuinely substantive debates—the kind that might have even made it onto the front page of a major news outlet or a political column. Every single topic here carries its own necessary dose of provocation; otherwise, why would anyone even bother engaging with them in the first place?

Look, since you seem to have this habit of shutting down discussions without applying any actual criteria—when, let's be honest, any debate on this topic could end up in pretty much the same place regardless—it might honestly be best if they just officially labeled you. 🤷 To our resident clairvoyant, Ronald Allen...

Is there any point in trying again? Why on earth was that thread about Jergović locked up?

So, I’m still not getting an answer. Seriously? It isn't breaking any rules, and it’s definitely not some trollish attempt at a baiting comment like you seem to think I'm doing just to get a blanket judgment. Why is that?

Ronald Allen said:You should be the first one to realize that topics aren't started by just copy-pasting links; that method has never worked and certainly won't now. So, why don't you go ahead and count exactly how many closed threads on my end were actually that type of thing?

Am I supposed to laugh?
Oh, I'm definitely looking for a reason to.🤣🤣

Ronald Allen said:The moderator shut down Temu because it was logical—there wasn't a single hint in the thread that it would actually gain traction or evolve into any kind of decent discussion.

And let's skip the accusations of lying; at least every time, you get an explanation as to why a specific thread was closed.
Since you’re so busy keeping a meticulous tally of thread closures here on LK—or rather, on On the Edge of Politics—why don't you try counting how many times I've specifically asked and warned you all not to start a thread just by posting a link to a newspaper article or some news portal?

The thread hadn't even been up for a couple of hours. It matched the PDF title perfectly, didn't insult anyone on the forum, and didn't break a single rule...

If you stick to that logic, you might as well just lock up Roger Robinson682's thread about the Constitution over on the main Politics PDF.

The real issue is that it exposes Jergović and his whole crew—those mentors who are basically the newspaper owners writing those shameful pieces about the Barbarin trench and Titin's crimes.

Is it really that hard to just admit that, instead of clumsily making excuses like 'it was logical that the topic showed no signs of life'
?
You closed threads because they didn't suit your mood, or maybe you just got carried away in a moment of "inspiration" and went on a locking spree...😉, not because they violated the rules. If a thread actually gets locked for breaking a rule, then fine, "even a blind squirrel finds a nut once in a while,"

So, tell me: what exactly was wrong with the thread about Jergović and his twisted stories, when it fit the On the Edge of Politics theme perfectly and followed every single rule?

I'd love to see this supposed reasoning and moderation logic applied at Mad House—which, frankly, shouldn't have even kept its name given the way you people moderate things.

Ronald Allen said:The only thing actually bothering them is the rebranding of the PDF, purely for appearances. They didn't raise an eyebrow as long as Mad House was around, whether it was moderated or not.
Now, some sort of (specifically, some self-proclaimed intellectuals citing some up-and-coming athlete from out of state) is claiming that LK users have somehow lost their Constitutional right to free speech or their ability to write in a "freer style" just because of this PDF change... WRONG! The topics will remain exactly what they've always been, and there will still be discussions that aren't quite "appropriate" for On the Edge of Politics, but the moderation standards aren't changing one bit.
The bottom line? People are just picking a fight over nothing. Honestly, if they weren't complaining, we'd all be bored!

How is that not true???
What you're saying is just plain false.

You personally have been locking down countless threads over the last few days without providing any coherent explanation.

I don't know if it was you or rezon@tor who locked the specific thread I linked here, and I have no clue why, but that topic fit the new PDF name perfectly: On the Edge of Politics.

As they say, the truth will out.

What exactly is the criteria for locking a thread on the politics forum or when things are shifting into madness?

I'm looking at a thread from the main political discussion area that got locked because of PDF rules, yet it contained a hyphen linked to a thread that was already freshly locked)

Michael Sullivan3 said:And Amanda Booth42, you sound like you just joined the forum yesterday.

Who exactly is going to apply this "one-size-fits-all" moderation policy? Is it the person who shoved a thread about discovering a mass grave straight into the Crazy House? Or is it the individual up there who sold their soul for some scraps from Judin?

Well, what can you do... some people are just hopeless pessimists, I guess.

And hey, if it makes it into the official record, so be it.😁
Bryan Sanchez86 said:Master thread:

Please refrain from starting separate threads just because someone feels like being a nuisance. All discussions regarding communist crimes within the former state should be confined to the linked thread.

Furthermore, please stick to the scope of the former state. The rest of Europe and the world are not the focus here. That means no mentions of Dresten, Hiroshima, or any other off-topic nonsense. This subject is sensitive, so the standards will be strict—don't act surprised if you find yourself banned for drifting off-topic or otherwise disrupting the flow.

This new thread wouldn't have even been created if some moderator hadn't locked the original one for reasons known only to himself.

And if we were actually going to strictly follow the rule that "this isn't an American politics thread," then more than half the topics on this site wouldn't even be sitting under the main Politics section.

I can only hope that this principle of handing out bans is applied equally to everyone. There shouldn't be any tolerance for those low-level trolls, and any post that attempts to justify those aforementioned crimes or mock the victims should be sanctioned immediately.
nimblewalker58 said:I was actually thinking about moving this thread over to the Nazis & Partisans section, but it’s impossible to scrub the off-topic chatter and distractions from here. It's a shame, but things got far too emotional, too quickly.

nimblewalker58

The users here are human beings, and of course this topic is emotional... how could it be any other way after seeing these images? This isn't some sci-fi horror flick.

This is reality. This actually happened. These people—men, women, children, the elderly—they were real lives. They lived, and they have living relatives left behind.
The criminals are still out there walking free.

And yet, not a single soul has been held accountable for such a horrific crime.

It is fundamentally wrong for certain moderators to toy with the feelings of people who are grieving—people whose family members were slaughtered in such a brutal fashion.

It seems some mods are truly devoid of empathy; they toss the victims around as if what the killers and criminals did wasn't devastating enough already.

I honestly don't understand where the idea comes from that a crime like this should be "buried" under gossip about Nazis and Partisans. This thread deserves to be a featured topic in its own right, rather than being shunted off to the old Yugoslavia section. This isn't just a discussion about America, though we all know America is always the central theme here.
Then, to move another thread to the Madhouse—which is a blatant insult to the users whose family members ended up at those execution sites...

Moving a thread to the Madhouse is the ultimate form of hate speech on this forum. By doing that, you're essentially implying that the users who want to pay proper respect to the victims and expose the criminals are just lunatics. It’s a power play: using your position of authority to dismiss a heavy, serious subject by labeling it as mere speculation, rumors, or trolling.
It basically gives certain users a free pass to mock others without consequence.

It is truly shameful and utterly brazen.
It feels like the chaos just never ends. Honestly, I’m officially filing a report against the moderator for hate speech and blatant disrespect toward other members. They completely derailed the conversation, pivoting from serious political discourse straight into some absolute circus. Is anyone actually running this place?

It’s high time we acknowledged that this was nothing short of an insult to the victims and everyone who loved them. How can anyone look at the facts and not see the sheer disrespect involved? It isn't just about the event itself anymore; it's about the way it's being handled now, which feels like a slap in the face to those who actually lived through the tragedy. It’s a deep, lingering wound that keeps being reopened by people who clearly don't care about the weight of the history they're mishandling. Is there any limit to how much we can disregard the pain of others in the name of convenience or shifting narratives? It’s exhausting to watch.

Moving this thread to a new topic.

Honestly, how much nerve does someone have to have? To just go in and delete an entire registration like that? It’s absolutely brazen.

rezon@tor said:Now that is a brilliant idea. 👍

Can we actually talk about this now? politics temama.

Have you no shame, you absolute resonator? Honestly, how do you even look at yourself in the mirror? How can you possibly live with yourself?

First, you just drag the whole conversation back to the old Yugoslavia days, and then you lock the thread down. Is that how it works?
And now, just like that, you decide to pivot from discussing one of the most repulsive acts imaginable straight into "insanity" territory? Is that really how we're going to handle this?

Aren't you ashamed of playing the victim?

Do you have any shred of conscience left? Is there some kind of twisted personal vendetta driving you to toy with the victims like this, or are you just indifferent to the pain you're causing their families?

You honestly seem to think that the lives of thousands of people are just some kind of punchline—some trivial topic fit for a madhouse. To you, the mass suffocation of thousands of human beings is nothing more than a game or a way to pass the time. Is that really how you view existence? Does the loss of so many souls carry absolutely zero weight in your twisted worldview?

Have you no shame? Do you even possess a soul, or are you just like those people who worked so hard to cover up such a massive crime?

There isn’t a more blatant display of hate speech than what you’ve been pulling for the last two days. Honestly, why are you constantly twisting things to target the victims?

There is absolutely nothing more insulting than what you’re doing right now—playing games and messing around with the victims.

Shame on you. Honestly, shame on you and whoever else thinks you actually deserve to be a moderator.
At this point, it’s clearly not a coincidence..

This is starting to feel personal..

So, I have to ask: which moderator is intentionally, and without any actual explanation, shutting down this thread just as we started getting into the meat of the discussion regarding "Antifascist crimes"?

I’m guessing it’s rezon@tor, given how much they’ve been pushing the idea that the thread should be closed under the guise that everything has already been said, there's nothing left to discuss, or that it isn't "political" or whatever other excuses they can cook up..

So, I’m putting the question directly to the so-called mod:

Do you have some kind of personal vendetta that requires you to scrub this from the screen and stifle any debate about the fact that the Partisans committed horrific crimes for which absolutely no one has ever been held accountable?

I am once again demanding that this thread be kept open.
Why was this thread moved to

Was this moved from the Politics section to the Yugoslavia archive via PDF?

And honestly, I’d like to know which moderator decided to make that call.

Following their flawed logic, victims and mass graves have absolutely nothing to do with America, simply because they were discovered within the borders of what is now the US.

By that same reasoning, why not just move every single thread related to the European Union over to the World PDF?

The truth is, this topic is deeply an American issue, regardless of how certain people—including some moderators—try to justify or cover up these crimes. The proof is right there: those who claim that summary executions and the slaughter of innocents were somehow justified never face any consequences, yet you're quick to hand out bans to anyone who dares to call out such depravity.

How can you live with yourselves?

Furthermore, I am demanding that this thread be restored to the Politics section where it originally belongs.

Just think about the benefits: save on gas; America flourishes without that disruptive element (and the only cost would be travel, since we wouldn't need housing); and the people in Borneo (Indonesia) would be grateful for the gift and a partial solution to hunger...

That won't work—I heard from someone down by the Mississippi that white meat isn't even good enough for them... so that whole plan falls apart before it even starts.

ignores the simple fact that in America, freedom of speech and expression are actually protected by law..

So, if there are people out there trying to punish someone for saying something that isn't even illegal... aren't they actually the ones breaking the law?

At the end of the day, it comes down to whether the moderators choose to respect the legal framework or ignore it entirely. And let’s not forget, those rules apply right here to this Forum.

Let's be real: no forum's private rules can ever supersede the laws of the land.

wiredsailor10 said:Can I throw out a few points?

We definitely need someone who isn't one-sided. For instance, driftingdriver couldn't stand it when someone spoke out against the church (just a reminder to everyone that criticizing the church is totally normal everywhere else in the world), while Simba, for example, can't stand it when people talk about veterans. That’s what I’ve managed to notice so far. If a moderator does have a personal opinion, they really should know how to keep it in check and not voice it on the forum.

Why? Because it gets awkward—they end up siding with people who think just like them, making the same mistakes, but only punishing those with opposing views.

I don't think we can take into account how many warnings someone has received if they were handed them by a moderator like that in the first place.

Also, I’ve noticed that everything just feels like trolling (aimed at the moderators). You can't expect a real discussion if comments have to be this rigid.

There's a massive difference between a thread veering off into a completely different direction and just someone bringing up examples that are slightly off-topic.

A few stray comments doesn't mean the whole debate is pivoting elsewhere. Besides, moderators aren't just there to hand out bans and delete stuff (at least that's how it works on other foreign Reddits); they're also supposed to help steer the conversation back on track.

I've often seen that people participating in a debate will stick to the point if someone just reminds them they've drifted. There's no need to go around handing out warnings to everyone; people are human, not computers.

🤣 🤣Maybe it seems normal to you, but the way you and a few others "debate" it is anything but pleasant. "Trolls" would probably be a better description.

@Jerry Garcia

As for the criteria... I can only say that, as a rule, the people chosen as moderators are those who have barely posted lately (in recent times) and who don't actually understand the subject matter of the PDF.
As for bias, let's not even go there, but regarding certain mods, we could certainly talk about their integrity (take granitefox16, for example, who, after a debate that didn't go his political way and where he was cornered by facts, simply wipes out the forum user's posts or the entire thread—not to mention he himself went off-topic and started trolling).

I understand that the forum has an editorial policy that leans toward the so-called left wing, and that's perfectly normal and legitimate. However, if public figures—politicians and those associated with politics—are subject to criticism, then the treatment toward them should at least be equal, regardless of whether they come from the left or right. There shouldn't be such things as "sacred cows" that people feel they must spit on or call every name under the sun.

The insults aimed at forum members are even worse. They can routinely call those of us on the right side fascists or bigots... yet the moment you call someone a communist or a radical leftist, you get hit with a warning card.

The criteria for closing threads is a whole different story... take certain verdicts and trials, for example. One can comment on a case right up until the verdict is reached (luckily, they can't carry out sentences here, and thankfully there's no death penalty), whereas some threads are shut down immediately with an explanation that you aren't allowed to comment on cases that haven't been legally finalized.

Gentlemen admins and moderators, nobody is stopping you from representing a specific political stance, but the criteria must be equal for everyone, and they clearly aren't on this forum.
