Seriously, I can't believe they didn't include that in this massive update for the new m-zaba app.

Total self-inflicted wound if you ask me... 🤷

Laura Cox5 said:Wait, where did the knee thing even come from?

Oh, it didn't come from anywhere—the knee thing was just a metaphor to show that it really matters which part of the body we're talking about in the original question. I obviously don't actually know if it's a knee or not...
MRI Scan Results in Health ·
Well, it really depends on what we're talking about. I mean, you wouldn't exactly go running to Neuron at the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke just to drop off some MRI scans of your knee. I mean, sure, you technically could—it's not like they'd stop you—but I don't know... I probably wouldn't...

I stumbled upon this thread and felt compelled to share my own experience... I hope some of you can relate. Perhaps this might help someone else. That said, any advice is more than welcome. If anyone here has walked a similar path and is willing to offer some guidance, I’d truly appreciate it.

Has anyone ever heard the song Ramones - Outsider? Because that is exactly how I feel when I'm out in public. Like an outsider. I simply don't feel a sense of belonging or connection with people my age. Part of it stems from being introverted or dealing with social anxiety, though even that isn't as overwhelming as it used to be. It's the superficiality that drains me—the constant chatter about who wore what, who said what, or "did you see that guy over there?" I can't fake interest. I think that's a major reason why I isolate myself; I refuse to put on an act. The biggest hurdle, however, is that my worldview and way of thinking differ so much from my peers. We just aren't on the same wavelength. On top of that, I'm a chronic dreamer. I often drift off into an imaginary world where I inhabit an alter ego, possessing everything I lack in reality. I struggle to know who I actually am, where I fit in, or what my purpose is supposed to be, and that leads to constant frustration.

All of this dissatisfaction with myself and my life inevitably boils down to deep frustration.

I am frustrated with myself and the way I live my life. I find myself envious of successful people, those with a clear vision for their future, people with massive social circles, or those in stable relationships. I envy those who have their lives together and know exactly who they are and what they want, simply because they possess everything I seem to lack.

At the same time, I crave change. I desperately want things to be different, yet I find myself paralyzed, taking zero action to make it happen.

I honestly don't know where to begin.

So, that's my story.

If anyone has any advice, please feel free to share it with me.

Best,

But then comes the real trouble... 😬

First thing you need to do if you're trying to kick the weed habit is learn how to actually hit the enter key when you're typing... 😬

Step two? Just stop smoking. 🤷 Look, I didn't have the patience to wade through that entire word-salad you put together, but I caught a glimpse of you mentioning some F-codes, medications, and all that—honestly, it sounds like you've got way bigger issues on your plate than just the marijuana itself.
I don't get it. Why would anyone even try to charge her? 😕

She knew she needed to get covered, but she just wouldn't do it. She fell, broke something, and needed medical help—so she got it. That's that.

Why couldn't she just... pay for it? Without someone trying to "get back" at her or anything like that? 😕
Casey Jones5 said:Well, the person involved actually knew all that, but they refused to register for coverage because they were terrified it would eat too much into their Social Security. They sold off everything they owned in the US, moved back here, and then signed up. Since they aren't drawing a pension locally—it's all paid out in the US—they just withdraw the cash via checks while they're here. Everyone saw this coming, but honestly, trying to explain logic to someone nearing a hundred years old is a losing battle.🙏

It shouldn't be, but man, it's been a long day. Either I misread the $250-$500 range or I was doing quick math for five days in my head and gave myself a little false hope thinking, "Hey, maybe it won't be that bad."😬

It wasn't an artificial hip, it was more like "screws, plates, and metal" type of deal. I haven't heard all the specifics yet, but they'll likely be stuck in bed for about ten days. I'm assuming if it's not a full prosthetic hip, it won't hit that $50k mark.😬

Ha, well, I guess the obvious answer is just "let that centenarian pay for it using their American pension" 🤷
Casey Jones5 said:Thanks for the heads-up! I actually tried asking at the hospital, but they won't tell you a single thing until the patient is officially discharged, so you basically just get hit with the bill as a total shock at the very end 😬

If we're looking at roughly $500-$333 per day, then at least I can run the math for a ten-day stay and expect it to land somewhere between $2,500 and $5,000. The ambulance ride to get the person to the hospital ended up costing about $400, so now my main task is just waiting to see what the hip surgery costs—that’s definitely going to be the real kicker 😬

500-$333 a day means 5000-$3333 for 10 days. Multiplying by 10 shouldn't be *that* hard 😬

Hip surgery—assuming it's a replacement (which, given their age, it almost certainly is)—is definitely not going to be under $16667.

Honestly, you might just need to upgrade your PC 😬

But seriously—no joke here—you really ought to check out what’s going on with that fan first. It could just be choked up with dust and needs a good cleaning, or maybe the fan itself is actually dying and you'll need to grab a replacement...

The thing is, they don’t even bother with those deep background checks anymore for these "standard" police academy training programs—it just isn't worth the headache for them, and honestly, if they actually stuck to the old protocols, nobody would even make the cut... 😁 I guess I don't know how things work over in Mexico, though.

Look, it’s not like it’s a huge deal or anything, but honestly? It probably won't do you any favors to have people constantly trying to explain how "our" system works if things over in Mexico are actually totally different. I mean, who knows if they even are... damn, we've had almost thirty years to see some real changes happen on both sides of the Mississippi River 🙂

Good luck, though—I really hope someone can get you sorted so you can make it into the police force, if that's truly what you're after 🙂

Maybe—just maybe—it would actually help if you mentioned which state this went down in? I have a pretty strong hunch it didn't happen here in the States, though my bad if I'm totally off base... if you let me know where it was, I can try to get some folks involved who actually know the local laws and regulations over there.
Mom left and the whole family is falling apart in Psychology & Therapy ·
Megan Flores6 said:Hey everyone,

I’m 25, living my own life and working my own job here in the States, but I find myself driving back to my hometown almost every weekend. My dad lives there, and since my mom walked out on him this past summer, things have gone south fast. My dad was never really the "warm and fuzzy" type, but he always showed love for my sisters and me—especially me, being the youngest. Since my older sisters are married and settled with their own families now, I’ve basically become his only lifeline. I’ve always been closer to him than to my mother, and we used to talk every single day. But ever since she left, he calls me multiple times a day just to drain me with his endless venting and wild conspiracy theories. He’s convinced the whole world is out to get him, and he constantly accuses me of being my mother's "little spy." There are times when he gets under my skin so deeply that I lose control—I end up screaming and throwing things around the room. Then, predictably, he’ll apologize and promise it won't happen again, but we both know that’s a lie. To put it bluntly, it’s emotional abuse. I’m at a total loss because nothing I’ve tried seems to change the dynamic. Honestly, with everything going on in my family, I feel completely drained of any will to live; I just want to disappear. I even told him that. Today is Friday, and we had another blowout the second I stepped through the front door. Part of me knows I should probably stop coming home, but I’m paralyzed by the fear that something terrible might happen to him if I stay away.

Has anyone else dealt with something like this? I could really use some advice... thanks.

Look, you can't change your father.

But you can work on yourself.

What you just wrote is—honestly—really bad. No one, ever, under any circumstances, should be getting you so worked up that you're screaming and smashing things... especially not "many times." If someone is reacting like that to being provoked—and honestly, it doesn't even matter who's provoking you or what was actually said—that sounds like a massive issue with anger management.
The thing is, you need to deal with how you handle stress, not your dad's issues with your mom or whatever else is going on. Saying "Mom left and the whole family fell apart" isn't the core issue here... the real issue is "I don't know how to cope with my own emotions."

That's where you really need to put in the work and find some professional help.

Honestly, nobody is even trying to fix anything, seriously... what is wrong with you?

Nobody is doing any technical maintenance or fixing a single thing on this forum—literally nothing has been done here for years. I’m not an admin anymore, but I was one for eight years, and honestly, one of the main reasons I stepped down was because absolutely no one was looking after the site or addressing how broken things have been behind the scenes for ages. It’s just sitting here, stuck in its ways, basically waiting to die a natural death.

It’s actually a freaking miracle—honestly, it deserves some kind of serious scientific study—how a forum in this state can still be alive and kicking in this day and age, and how there are still enough idiots showing up to keep it going.
