A buddy of mine is looking to offload his rig and is trying to gauge what kind of cash he can actually pull for it:
Intel i5 8600k, clocking in at 3.6 - 4.3ghz, 6 cores asus rog rx570 4gb gigabyte h370 hd3 16 gigs of RAM @ 2666mhz corsair H60 liquid cooler—just the single fan version phanteks case—can't recall the specific model, but it has that full glass side panel and comes with 2 fans included corsair 750w power supply 500 gig samsung ssd
Greetings, everyone. I am currently in the market for a high-end gaming rig—looking to drop roughly $5,000 on the build. There is absolutely no rush on my end; I can certainly afford to sit tight for a month or two if it means securing a superior price-to-performance ratio. I don't foresee any issues sourcing individual components from various retailers like Newegg or Micro Center. Should I hold out for Black Friday deals? I noticed this specific GPU is currently marked down here:
Would you consider this a solid choice for the build?
So, I just finished watching The Exorcist in the theater—and frankly, I don't think I'll be able to sleep without leaving a lamp on for at least two or three nights... It was quite unsettling. Though, if I’m being honest, I found The Nun to be a bit more intense in its atmosphere.
I hate to be the one to break this to you—especially since I’d rather not open my own machine right now because I'm dealing with a headache involving my Dell laptop—but let's look at the facts here. Last night, I swapped out my old HDD for an SSD, which meant a completely fresh installation of Windows. Now, suddenly, the Fn key is essentially dead weight; I can't adjust the brightness, crank up the volume, or toggle any of those essential shortcuts. My gut instinct—which is usually a bit cynical, I'll admit—is telling me I might have botched a cable connection during the swap, given that every other key on the keyboard seems to be functioning perfectly fine. Does anyone have any insight or a theory on what might be going on?
I picked up an identical laptop for about $130 a few years back—it was practically mint, honestly looked like it had never even been touched—so now I'm wondering, did I overpay?
I just got back from campus—finally finished up with classes for a bit—so I brought my GPU home hoping to squeeze in some gaming, but I’m staring at a blank screen. Basically, I have this ancient NVIDIA card that connects to my monitor via a VGA cable, which works fine. I tried swapping it out for a beefier Intel card that uses HDMI, but there's absolutely no signal. Interestingly, the old NVIDIA card actually has an HDMI port too, but even when I try using that, nothing happens. Does this mean I need to dive into the BIOS and toggle some setting for HDMI output? Just a side note: my monitor doesn't actually have an HDMI port, so I'm relying on one of those cheap converters, but I don't think that's the culprit here. Also, is there any chance the Intel card won't output anything because of leftover NVIDIA drivers hanging around in the system? edit: To make matters worse, once I switch over to the HDMI connection, I can't even get into the BIOS because I can't see a single thing. I tried switching the settings from onboard to PCI, but no luck. Should I try messing with the PCI Express settings instead?
Hey everyone—I’ve run into a bit of a headache. I have two separate drives set up here; one runs my Windows OS and the other is dedicated strictly to my games, movies, and various media files. Everything was functioning perfectly fine until today when—and this is almost comical in its timing—I tried to launch a game, and the client just started glitching out on me. So, naturally, I rebooted the machine, but now the system isn't even acknowledging the existence of that second drive. I’ve even tried the whole "unplug it and plug it back in" routine, but no luck whatsoever.
On a side note—and I can't quite put my finger on why—the boot sequence has become incredibly sluggish lately. It hangs for an eternity at the BIOS screen before finally moving on to the "loading operating system" phase. This definitely wasn't happening a few weeks ago.
To be honest, I suspect there might be some hardware fatigue involved; the casing felt noticeably warm to the touch when I went to check on it... The drive is completely invisible to Hard Disk Sentinel now...
It looks like we’re staring down some serious engine issues. If you ask me, RB doesn't stand a chance against Ferrari or Mercedes—once they hit that magic button, the gap is going to be massive.
I really stepped in it this time—I’ll be the first to admit it. I probably should have been more careful about what I was pairing with my motherboard in the first place...🤦
Are you referring to those checkmarks I circled? Because if that’s the case—and I suspect it might be—then we’re looking at a bit of a disaster waiting to happen... how on earth is the refrigerator supposed to stay upright if we proceed like this?
The backplate isn't even there. What’s actually giving me grief is View on imgur these little clips—I can't quite find the right way to describe them, really. It feels like one of them always pops loose, almost as if they're just... poorly fitted? Or maybe just loose by design, though I highly doubt it.
Exactly this one http://www.lc-power.com/en/product/p...lies/lc-cc-85/ . My setup uses an old Intel socket 775—relics of a bygone era, really—and I’ve been scouring the manual to figure out how to seat that mounting bracket properly. To be perfectly honest, I haven't even managed to attach the base to the motherboard yet; I'm currently attempting to balance the whole assembly in mid-air like some sort of precarious architectural experiment, and frankly, it's not going well. If I have to keep lifting and resetting it, I'm inevitably going to make a mess of the thermal paste, which is a headache I'd rather avoid at all costs.
So, here’s the situation—I recently picked up a new LC CC 85 cooler. The issue, however, is that I am completely stumped on how to actually install it. I managed to get the mounting bracket set up just fine, but everything after that is proving to be a bit of a headache. These two little knobs are giving me nothing but trouble; I’ve searched online and even watched some tutorials, yet I still can't seem to get them to cooperate. To be more specific, I am stuck right at this part:
