The score actually reminded me of Se7en at one point—which is probably what was playing on loop in the heads of everyone working on this thing. The whole vibe reeks of Se7en, but let’s be real: aside from a decent premise, this movie isn't even in the same league. And don't get me started on the casting. It's all over the place. Especially the boss, who happens to be white. Honestly, looking at the screen, I don't see a single Black actor... weird, right?
The movie is set in Portland, Oregon. There aren't many people like that there. ☕
- - - Put him in a room with heavy hitters, and he’ll fold like a cheap suit. He’ll lose himself entirely. I've seen it happen before—one minute you're standing your ground, the next you're just a shadow of someone else's ego. It's pathetic. Listen, I’ve been thinking about *Zelig* again. It’s one of those films that stays under your skin. Woody Allen really hit on something profound here—that desperate, almost pathological need to belong by becoming whoever the room needs you to be. It’s uncomfortable to watch because it hits too close to home for anyone who’s ever felt like an outsider. The way he handles the chameleon concept? Brilliant. But it’s also deeply unsettling. He’s basically showing us a man without a core, just a series of masks. It makes you wonder how much of our own "personality" is just us performing for the crowd. A bit heavy for a comedy, sure, but that's why it works. It’s not just some mindless gag reel; there’s actual substance underneath the neuroticism.

It's worth it. 😳 If you're into thrillers, you'll dig it. The opening hits the spot—thunder, rain pouring down while the logo fades in... sets the mood perfectly for this kind of flick.

It deserves a decent score just because of the visual effects (S P O I L E R ! !that sequence where they're jumping from one space to another while fighting over the detonator and just the overall solid VFX before and after the jump—it was great!). The concept itself is solid, it's just a shame they didn't flesh it out more since we learn absolutely nothing about how they actually gain the ability to jump! Or anything about the villains... why? How? We're just stuck waiting for a sequel... hopefully it'll be better than this.
Also, he's a bit irritating here—and I usually love S. L. Jackson—but maybe it's just that "Storm" hairstyle... And yeah, if I were in their shoes, I’d hit the bank first too, once I'm at least 20+ years old.😁
DIRECTOR: Gregory Hoblit CAST: Diane Lane, Billy Burke, Colin Hanks, Joseph Cross RUNTIME: 100 min. YEAR: 2008 COUNTRY: USA SYNOPSIS: "A brutal wake-up call for modern society and the media outlets that thrive on sensationalist violence!
FBI agent Jennifer Marsh gets sucked into a deadly game of cat and mouse with a serial killer. He knows exactly how people work—they have this sick thirst for horror—so he live-streams his murders online. The more people tune in to the site, the more violent the deaths become.
Actually, let me be more precise: the higher the view count, the faster the victim dies. It's a race against the clock. 😳

First off, calling this an 'action spectacle'... give me a break. It was deathly BORING. Look, I’m the kind of person who actually likes slow-burn movies, so I don't get bored easily... but THIS? Which is supposed to be fast-paced? Total yawn material. The camerawork was a mess, but honestly, nothing compares to the brain-dead plot (the concept itself is fine, but the execution is just pure idiocy), the moronic dialogue, the zero sense of humor, and the forced, emotionless acting from the leads (and here I was thinking Hayden Christensen finally learned how to act... what a joke. I mean, he was great in 😍, pulling everything he could out of a terrible role—can't blame him if the script is complete garbage).... I don't know, the whole thing just felt messy and disorganized. The 'action scenes' weren't even engaging, and frankly, I couldn't care less how it ended. Seriously. And then you find out there's a sequel coming... oh, the horror.
