I managed to track down a survey from 2008 where the ranking looked like this:
1. NFL
2. MLB
3. COLLEGE FOOTBALL
4. NASCAR
231 posts shown.

While American football reigns supreme here in the States, does it actually carry any weight on the global stage?
One only needs to look back at the disastrous attempt with NFL Europe, which collapsed back in 2007 precisely because the sport failed to catch fire across the rest of the continent and the overhead costs were simply astronomical. Even though they poured an absolute fortune into that venture, the only group they managed to truly hook were the Germans, who still maintain a league with a decent following today..

I have to disagree; I don't think we're looking at an exaggeration here.

Is it not patently obvious that these are among the most iconic and globally recognized sports on the planet? They command a level of popularity that dwarfs water polo or handball by a factor of millions, yet somehow, we are expected to just sit here and tolerate the endless mockery of them? Why must people feel the need to belittle such massive institutions?
When I was traveling through the States, I ended up in a conversation with a guy who actually had the nerve to suggest that it’s an absolute disgrace that handball is even included in the Olympics. Is he serious? Of course he isn't right, but his sheer ignorance really drives home a point about how much the rest of the world looks down on the sport.
And no, I refuse to subscribe to that whole "dumb American" narrative.

Panama is all of Latin America, isn't it?😂
shadowridge14 said:Comparing a sports legend like Ante papak, a world champion in bocce, to someone like Babe Ruth? In what kind of godforsaken sport could he possibly compete???!!!
Who even plays that garbage besides those damn Americans who ruined football by strapping on helmets and groin guards and having the audacity to call it FOOTBALL (absolute blasphemy to the sport)? Ante is a bocce player in a sport played by at least three whole countries in this entire world!!!!!!!☕
frozentiger6 said:Personally, I couldn't care less about the score of this game.
It isn't because of the national team or the players, but rather because of the incompetent hacks sitting on the bench and those bloated mobsters lurking in the stands.
I hope to God they lose by ten and never even lay eyes on the 2012 Summer Olympics.
And if Balic decides to say goodbye at the start of February, then I honestly don't want to see any of them ever again. Let Kopljar run the show in the next period; honestly, screw both of them.
That's it, just venting.

dustypanther6 said:Schol was the goalkeeper of the moment, sure, but let’s be realistic—he was never truly elite. He was a solid keeper, certainly, but calling him world-class? Absolutely not.
Kimberly Smith69 said:Give me a break... if we're actually going to start throwing stones, I’d aim straight for Gobat, then Goluz, and finally Schol. Leave the kids out of this; they aren't the ones at fault when their own lack of maturity prevents them from acting cool.
David Martin71 said:Why the facepalm? I actually agree that he wasn't exactly world-class, just decent at best.
Samuel Baker3 said:Did Šega really just blow it on an even-money bet? Is that how we're playing it now? 🤣
Let’s be honest for once: Šol was never actually a top-tier goalkeeper. To think that we could actually expect a head coach to be part of this equation is nothing short of pure delusion.
