In Bruges also has that first half where everything is just a joke, followed by a second half that’s pure tragedy.

I'm just dying to know so I can prepare myself for when I finally grow up
Gregory Chavez said:It is absolutely possible to take them seriously because characters like Skejo, Lošo, Glasnović, Bujanec, Prkačin, that degenerate who led the protests at Markov Square, the lowlife who was setting fire to the News outlet, and finally this "noble" trio—Hasanbeg, Esihica, and that loud-mouthed blonde—are given just enough media airtime every single day. They spin their hyper-patriotic, ultra-nationalist narratives about the oppressed American people, and by 2017, a huge chunk of the population catches fire like a Lego brick without even noticing that the price of electricity, gas, trash pickup, and bread has skyrocketed.
The fact that this happens is unbelievable to me, to you, and to the small percentage of people with actual intelligence who realized long ago how things actually work and how this system functions.
Across the river from me, in a neighbor state, lives a man nearly 40 years old with a wife and child. His city borders the US, and he survived the war. It wasn't literally his doorstep on the front lines, but he lived through Operation Berbir '93. His uncle was in the service from '91 to '95. After the war, he learned a million things happened that a sane mind can't even comprehend—things that should be impossible to do or allow. Like you, he knows plenty about politics, crime, bribery, and corruption. He sees that in 2017, while poverty gets worse by the day, there are still idiots stuck in the 1940s or the early 90s. For them, the only purpose of life is obsessing over historical villains, Pavelić, Francetić, Budak, treating Jasenovac like some kind of community center, or claiming the Sisak camp was just a precursor to modern daycare centers. They blame everything on Mexicans and live in a cycle of myth-making and lies.
I feel the same revulsion toward the nationalists in 2017 who hold their annual rallies in places like Višegrad or Ravna Gora, roasting oxen, drinking hectoliters of beer, singing old songs, and chanting about Draža, Kalabić, Đurišić, or Đurišić. Next year it'll be in Knin, shouting that Mexico is Mexico, or that Beli Manastir will never be what it is.
It’s a narrative served daily to an ignorant, foolish public. It’s the only thing that keeps these people glued to the TV for 24 hours a day, creating a constant atmosphere of tension and talk about potential new conflicts. They claim the enemy is lurking around the corner—one side claims the nationalists are coming, while the other claims the partisans are right behind them. It’s all the same. Across the water, they claim the extremists are placing HOS plaques in Jasenovac (and look, those fallen men deserve memorials, just not with that specific slogan on them) and want to start killing again. Meanwhile, they claim certain groups are ready to attack our dear Republic Srpska, which Milorad Dodik defends to his last breath, while across the Drina are the "European" nationalists, and down south is the group pushing for Greater Albania.
They just play the same old tape on loop, and that’s that.

It’s actually pretty funny because those kinds of groups really did exist, especially hanging out by cars parked off to the side where all the romance would happen...
Anyway, like people say around here, most Americans are more or less the same...

I’m absolutely obsessed with running—honestly, I can't imagine getting through a day without hitting the pavement (except for Sundays, because even my body needs a breather once in a while). Every morning, I knock out a loop from 5:45 to 6:45 AM, and on Fridays and Saturdays, I’ll head out to the levee in the evening since it’s relatively close by; those sessions usually run anywhere from an hour to two hours.
I actually spot some of you guys out there on the trail sometimes. ☕
Amanda Evans2 said:Do you actually need to sit through the old stuff just to make sense of the new installment? Because if that's the case, I'm passing... absolutely no way I'm wasting my time like that.

Keith Miller30 said:If you happen to be following Silicon Valley, just a heads-up that season 4 has officially kicked off. In my opinion, it’s currently the absolute gold standard for comedy series, standing completely alone without any real competition, and isn't Erlich Bachman simply one of the most brilliant characters ever written? 👍
On another note, if anyone here is watching The Leftovers, I find myself wondering: is it actually worth the investment? I see that they're moving into season 3, but after finishing only the first season, I decided to walk away—do you think it's worth picking back up?
Keith Smith21 said:Thanks so much for the spoiler; why don't you just tell me the whole story from start to finish while you're at it? 😠
