Period talk: Questions and advice in Women's Health ·
I’m dealing with a bit of a messy situation regarding my cycle, and I was wondering if anyone knows if it's actually okay to delay my period two months in a row?

Basically, last month I was heading out on vacation right when my period was supposed to start. My gynecologist prescribed me some Logitech to help manage it—I took it for about ten days total (five days before I left and five while I was away)—so everything lined up perfectly for when I got back home.

Well, here's the thing... I have another trip coming up, and my period is scheduled to hit right at the same time again. 😠 Can I start taking the Logitech for a few days before I go and then stop after about ten days, just like last time?

It would honestly be a lifesaver because I have a surgery scheduled for September 13th, and I really need to make sure I don't have my period during that window. If I can push this current month back to around August 20th, then by next month, my cycle should land somewhere around September 17th, which works out perfectly.

Does anyone have any insight on this?

I mean, I'll definitely call my doctor, but her office is closed until Thursday and I'm feeling a little anxious waiting until then. I might need to change my travel plans if delaying it twice in a row isn't recommended.

Thanks to everyone for all the advice regarding an orthopedic surgeon. It turns out there isn't anyone available at MedPost right now, but they did manage to get me an appointment with a physiatrist first thing. I’m hoping they can at least prescribe some physical therapy while I wait to see a specialist who can move a bit faster. Honestly, my mobility is getting worse by the day, and it's becoming quite a struggle.

coppergardener said:Honey, you just have to wait sometimes. I was actually just at the clinic looking to book an appointment with Dr. Bojanic, but my sister told me they aren't even taking new patients until September or October. 😂 I didn't even dare try to look for a specialist because I figured I'd end up waiting forever anyway. So, they referred me to Dr. Berg, whom I don't know anything about, but I'm scheduled for March 24th—so, two months from now. Honestly, you can't really do much better than that right now. This is my first time navigating this system; I've only seen an orthopedic surgeon once before, and that was through a private practice.

edit: I'm not sure which other clinics offer this, but the Medicol clinic does accept referrals. Their website is a little clunky, so your best bet is to give them a call and ask if they have an orthopedist on staff, what their name is, how often they visit, and what the current wait time is for someone using insurance.

I called Bojanic’s private office, and the exam fee is $200!!!! Good grief!

In the end, I called Medicol, and they scheduled me with a physiatrist—they don't have an orthopedist available—under a Dr. Cetinić in two weeks. I explained my situation to the receptionist, and she mentioned that seeing a physiatrist is perfectly fine if the wait for an orthopedist is too long; it shouldn't hurt to go to the physiatrist first.

Thanks for the info.😉

Just checking in to see if this thread is still active... Does anyone know which orthopedic specialist or clinic has the shortest wait times right now? Ideally, I'm looking for someone covered by Medicare rather than a private practice. I used to see Dr. Bojanić over in Seattle, but his schedule is completely packed—I'm looking at a five-month wait just to get an appointment!😲

I only have them after my workouts. Anyway, thanks for the input. 😉

Is this the other link you mentioned? I'm a little short on cash right now, so I think I'll just grab the smaller pack for now and then upgrade to the bigger size once I've finished this one. 😉

Thanks for getting back to me so quickly, I'm heading out to pick them up right now. 😉

I’d love to get an assessment from anyone who actually knows their stuff here:

Are these proteins any good? I'm a vegetarian, if that matters, and I've finally decided to start hitting the gym.😉

Thanks!

Hi everyone, I was wondering if anyone could recommend a solid dermatologist who specializes in hair issues? I visited a clinic in Manhattan about two years ago, but the doctor there just gave me a diagnosis and prescribed some over-the-counter shampoo, even though I told her I’d already tried it without any luck. Recently, I had a consultation at a pharmacy where they did a scalp analysis, and it turns out my hair roots are actually twice as thin as the hair shafts themselves—they really should be thicker and more robust. The woman performing the checkup didn't try to push any of those promotional shampoos on me; instead, she sent me straight to a doctor because she believes this is an internal issue. I really don't want to find myself in another situation where I have to tell a dermatologist which specific tests I want to undergo, so I’m hoping you all can point me toward someone reliable. I’m open to private practice, provided it isn't outrageously expensive. I checked with the Nola Clinic, but their consultation fee is around $400-$200, which is just way too much for me right now. Thanks!

I’m actually looking for something similar... I’m a vegetarian who just started working out, nothing too intense yet. However, I’m struggling to hit my protein goals, so I’d like to start supplementing. My concern is that I don't want to just wing it, but when I ask the trainers at my gym, they usually just try to sell me whatever brand they have a contract with. I’m really just looking for an unbiased opinion on a reliable manufacturer—ideally something that isn't marketed exclusively toward hardcore bodybuilders or pro athletes.

thanks 😉
Issues with online banking - JPMorgan Chase in Banking, Insurance & Loans ·
darkmaker94 said:How long does it usually take for an online banking transfer from someone else to actually show up in my balance?

Well, if you're using JPMorgan Chase and someone transfers funds to you from within the same bank, it should show up almost instantly. If they're sending it from a different bank, it typically takes about one business day. As for what happens when you're at a completely different institution entirely... I honestly couldn't tell you.

Peter Cooper5 said:It’s not even about landing a job, really. It’s more like I’m working for someone else to scout people for the AZ fund. You know how it goes—it's like a pyramid scheme; he gets a cut when he brings someone in, I get a cut, then there's some other guy under me getting a slice... you get the picture? But now, different firms like Vanguard are looking for their own "agents" to bring in clients... so honestly, I have no clue if being in an AZ fund is even worth the headache.

Anyway, I had a question about exit fees. Let's say I have $0.00 sitting in my account, I switch funds, and then I get my first paycheck of $667 (hypothetically, obviously)... will they just snatch the fee right out of that, or how does that work?

I wouldn't recommend taking that job unless you are absolutely desperate for the cash. In my opinion, it’s just a thankless grind.

If you've selected a fund but there’s nothing left in the account (because your employer isn't making contributions), you won't be charged an exit fee because there's simply nothing to deduct from. Since there's no money in the account, the fund doesn't benefit from you, so there's no base to charge a fee against.
When you transfer to a different fund (today) and get paid (tomorrow), $33 of that $2,000 gross will be deposited into the new fund, and you'll have no further connection to the old one.

I’m a little confused—are you saying you actually need to find people to join an AZ just to land a job?
😕😕😕

As for your situation, you have total control over which fund you pick. You can stay in one as long as you like, or switch things up whenever you feel the need. I believe the current rule is that you have to stick with a specific fund for at least a week before you can swap it out, but honestly, jumping around too often isn't worth the hassle since you'll get hit with exit fees.

Also, whether you have a steady job or not doesn't change the mechanics of it. The contributions hit your account when you're working, and they obviously don't show up when you aren't.

Steven Reed said:So, essentially, the system won't automatically detect regular deposits to trigger an offer—meaning you’ll actually have to trek down to a local Chase branch, sign some paperwork, and manually request an overdraft limit. On top of that, they’re slapping a 1% processing fee on whatever amount they decide to approve.

Aha, I see.😉

Thanks for clearing that up!
Even though I’m pretty sure they won't approve an overdraft for me—despite the fact that I've had steady direct deposits from my employer hitting my checking account for several years now—I think I'll head down there and ask anyway.

analogheron75 said:Look, if you want to skip the hassle, just set up your direct deposit to go straight from your SC account into your checking. If you do that, they’ll automatically approve an overdraft limit for you—it happens almost immediately, usually right after that first paycheck hits. But if you try to do it manually—which they’re gonna make you do if your money isn't landing directly in your checking account—they're definitely going to hit you with fees. Going the automatic route is totally free.

Btw, when you grab that Student flyer, you get access to the mobile banking app too. And honestly? It’s killer. You can handle pretty much everything right from your phone.

But the issue is that payments from student services can only be sent via a checking account! That's exactly where the snag is.
Also, what does "manual approval" actually entail?🤷

Michelle Mendoza11 said:The student fan account is actually a pretty sweet deal. I’ve been using it for about 5 months now and it's solid. I’m only shelling out $1.75 a month, and I get full access to all the digital banking stuff along with my checking and savings accounts.
Regarding overdrafts, man, that's where things get messy... if you don't have a steady monthly paycheck coming in, they aren't going to help you out. The only way they'll approve an overdraft is if you've had regular deposits hitting that student account every single month for at least three months straight. Otherwise, they just shut you down.

Thanks for the reply 😉
I've already had regular deposits going into my account through SC for two years now, yet when I asked them about an overdraft about 5 or 6 months ago, they told me no. I just checked their website regarding this flyer's features and it looks like I might be eligible for an authorized overdraft, but it doesn't explain the "how" or "what" behind it. If anyone happens to know more, please let me know 😉

I honestly don't have the answer to your question, but I was wondering if you could tell me how you managed to secure a student loan and which bank you used?

George Phillips said:Sorry, but honestly, that math doesn't really hold up here in the States right now. Like, if you look at a small 600 sq ft apartment for maybe $250k, rent might be around $1,800, but a 30-year mortgage at 7% interest would run you closer to $1,600 plus taxes and insurance. Or even a tiny studio for $150k—renting could be $1,200 while a mortgage might be around $1,000 for 30 years or jump way up if you try to pay it off in 15.

It really depends on the type of loan you get and where you're buying. My cousin bought a 650-square-foot apartment, and her monthly mortgage payment is $833. Renting an identical place would cost her about $350.

Anyway, I don't want to derail the conversation here...

I just wanted to ask a quick question... does anyone here know anything about the student overdraft options at Zaba fan? I was browsing their website and saw they mention approving a negative balance on checking accounts, but I haven't been able to find any actual details anywhere... so if anyone happens to know the specifics...😉

Honestly, let's talk about leasing... it just doesn't make financial sense!
It’s really no different than weighing whether you should buy a house or just rent one. Your monthly mortgage payment ends up being roughly what you'd pay a landlord anyway... leasing works the exact same way; the monthly payment usually mirrors what a standard auto loan would cost. It isn't a great deal for people with solid credit, but I suppose for those who can't qualify for traditional financing, it feels like their only real option.
Sandra Martin72 said:It won't cause a miscarriage because we're talking about hormones here. When a woman actually needs to protect a pregnancy, these types of hormones are prescribed specifically to prevent the cervix from opening prematurely and causing a loss. It's just how they work. Similarly, they use them to jumpstart a period, or if a cycle is delayed due to a hormonal imbalance, the medication simply restores that balance so things can get back on track.

I guess I just don't quite follow the logic—if my doctor already knows there's a hormonal imbalance at play, why is her first move to just throw a prescription at me instead of digging into the root cause of why it happened in the first place?
She told me that if these pills get my period started, then everything is fine; but if they don't, then we'll move on to more intensive testing to figure out what's really going on.😕
