It’s good someone noticed that Bennett is actually Freddie Mercury, though I’m pretty sure Bennett the Australian is just an Australian who’s been shot through with a barrel...

Short and sweet—YES.

In my personal tier of movies right up there with Commando (you know, those brilliantly terrible action flicks with the ultra-cool leads), the only other contender is Escape from LA starring Kurt Russell. (Look, if you think Escape from NY is better, don't get all worked up about it—they're basically the same movie). As for Die Hard, it’s way too commercial to even be in this conversation.

He's an actor, man. Kind of a cult legend at this point. 😁

We were having this debate about who actually comes out on top. Is it Rambo or Schwarzenegger from Commando (or maybe Schwarzenegger from Predator)? Personally, I think John Matrix would take him down easy before the movie even hits the halfway mark, and by the second half, he’d probably have finished off the Predator too.

Matrix is driven by emotion; he’s fighting to save his daughter. Rambo wouldn't get that at all. 😁

Remember when those two idiots literally handcuffed themselves to the goalposts during the Lakers-Celtics game? Or when the fans in Los Angeles actually tore down the goal before kickoff? And don't even get me started on Silvia Marić's night during the Nightmare stage...😁
So, he's a director now?? in Movies ·
As if they even needed a director for Demolition Man? You’ve already got Rocky, you’ve got Blade, and some random futuristic gimmick—that's plenty. When they were crunching the numbers for the budget, they probably just looked at the spreadsheet and said, "Hey, we can definitely cut costs by skipping the director entirely. We don't actually need one."

The whole resolution is just unconvincing and plain stupid. I felt the exact same way watching Sniper. The first half is great—it's promising, it keeps you hooked... and then BAM! The writers completely lose the plot and pivot to some mindless alien nonsense. Honestly, movies like that should be legally banned from theaters. The second half isn't even worth the money they wasted on it.

Look, I never said the concept was bad. I’m obsessed with time travel movies—honestly, I think I’ve seen pretty much every single one out there—but this execution was just lazy. It’s expensive, yet totally forgettable. I haven't actually read the book, but based on what you're saying, that nebula thing makes sense logically. For some reason, it just didn't land that way in the movie. 😉

SPOILER ALERT... if you're actually dumb enough to $3.25 and watch this.

The whole plot is just completely unbelievable. Look, the movie starts off with these young, eager scientists who somehow have perfect knowledge about what went down in that specific historical battle. They find a grave, call up that corporation, and suddenly—after the company refuses to tell them anything about the situation—they’re the only hope for survival once they arrive on site? 😕 🙄

How does that even work? First, the company wants to keep the mid-century incident a total secret, but then they turn these guys into the primary special rescue unit? It's nonsense. I haven't seen logic this broken in a long time. In reality, people from a massive conglomerate like that wouldn't even give these guys the time of day.

And then there's the ultimate stupidity. Usually, when a scientist gets their ear sliced off in a movie, they wrap it up and moan in pain while some muscular, overpaid action hero saves everyone. Not here. Here, we've got a scientist with blood literally spraying from his head, smiling like an idiot and screaming, "It's me!!! It's me!!!" before suddenly gaining superhuman strength to rescue his friends. Disgusting.

This movie is so incredibly weak that I spent the entire climax—the part that's supposed to be the most intense and gripping—just scrolling through my phone. By the end, I didn't even care how the plot wrapped up. It’s a textbook case of a bloated, big-budget disaster that’s about as exciting as watching paint dry. Honestly, it might be the worst time travel flick I've ever sat through. Even Time Cop with Van Damme feels like a classic compared to this garbage. Man, oh man, Donner, you really missed the mark here. The Goonies were legendary, but this? This is just for 👎

Torcida said:Hahaha, DUDE, WHERE'S MY CAR... Just another one for the people who dig those mindless comedies like Starsky & Hutch—just pure stupidity.

Totally, though they played the fools a bit too hard in Zoolander. The production value is great and you can't beat that "Magnum" pose. 😁 😎

Oh, and now I just remembered the ones I missed. Those movies starring Bud Spencer and Terrence Hill. My favorites have to be "Even-Odd" and "Watch Out, There's a Crowd."

Just some random thoughts floating around. These are the kind of movies you just watch without sitting there questioning the logic or asking "how is this even possible?"

-Back to the Future 1,2,3
-Indiana Jones 1,2,3
-Dumb and Dumber
-Three Men and a Baby
-True Lies
-Commando - Superman
-Superman 1,2,3
-The Goonies
-Marriage License - Mission Impossible 1,2
-Mission Impossible 1,2
-Die Hard 1,2,3

I'll add more once I remember what else I missed.

Since I've watched pretty much everything involving I will be the one - Jet Li that ever made its way to the States, I don't think I'll be skipping this one either. 😎

Benjamin Gray66 said:So, using the weightlifters as proof that Jane Campion is some legendary director is your big argument?? 🙂 😂
Clearly, you didn't even bother reading my first post. 🙂

No, it's not an argument. It's just a parallel to the Formula 1 subforum, where people love to trash the biggest names just because they're at the top. I guess that's just how it works when people get annoyed that someone is actually that good.😁

Just admit it—and you don't even have to, because anyone can check—that you didn't even read my intro post where I mentioned three films by that Whoopi /whose name you misspelled, by the way... 🤣 plus, some young girl totally botched the spelling of Jim Carrey... 😁 .../.
One of them actually had a successful sequel.

First off.
Second—why did it take you an entire week to dig up those obscure Italians? If you actually knew anything about European cinema, you would’ve brought them up sooner, despite being such a 🙏 Steven Spielberg fanboy. You just Googled them.

Who Googled them? I have all three of those movies at my place here in the States and I know them almost by heart. They weren't the first things that popped into my head because I thought you were only looking for top-tier Hollywood comedians (which they aren't). Yeah, I worship Steven Spielberg because he's the best filmmaker on the planet. It's not exactly a secret, just like how Michael Schumacher is the greatest Formula 1 driver ever...

See? There you go, proving yourself wrong. And at least admit you have zero clue why you even brought up Whoopi in the first place. 😁

nostalgicar said:Screw Iraq, I’m actually stunned watching this on Eurosport—seeing how they absolutely crushed the Portuguese. Are the Portuguese just bad or are these guys actually elite? khm

I don't know... soccer has its surprises, but an underdog usually doesn't play this dominant. Honestly, Iraq looks legit. It's not like Portugal was trash either, yet they still gave up four goals. That guy Emad is playing better than anyone on the Portuguese side. 😁
