FIFA Club World Cup at Nova in Soccer ·
Honestly, last night was just pathetic. Both teams looked completely lost out there. The matchup between the Lakers and the Celtics was five times better than this garbage. 😁

Sure, but they aren't all concentrated in one spot. 😁

And where on earth did you get baseball from, brightscout63? That sport is basically built for nerds and guys selling peanuts in the stands. There’s no real atmosphere at a baseball game by definition. You can't compare it to soccer. Take American football—the energy is incredible, especially during the season when home-field advantage actually matters. You even get those massive stadium shows. 😁

Those are just prejudices. Especially for us Europeans. During a Euro classic, they make a little noise at the start and then everyone just goes silent. The only ones who sing the whole time are the English, constantly chanting that same old "Na nananana, England" nonsense. That isn't even real cheering. Those crazy Korean fans were way better. You could actually tell they were obsessed with football.

It’s honestly surreal living in this absolute mess called America. I spent two months out there and was genuinely blown away by their sports scene. When it comes to athletics, they are two millennia ahead of us. We just survive on these random flashes of individual brilliance instead of actually doing the work.

And let’s be real—how is an AC Milan-Manchester United matchup ever going to pack out the Rose Bowl or Yankee Stadium when Yankee Stadium couldn't even fill the seats back when they were playing Milan or Manchester United?

He couldn't say that because of that whole bombing mess and the voting scandal. Seventy thousand people watched that soccer final. That’s my context. And after that disaster in Athens, it's hard to give any organizer much credit. Especially when it comes to Olympics held in the US. Sure, they're the only ones with enough cash to actually pull off something perfect... 😁

What’s so funny? It’s pretty obvious you didn't watch the '94 World Cup. Or the Olympics in Atlanta. Or even the two Women's World Cups. You don't see unsold tickets at those kinds of events. Back in '94, they were averaging 68,000 people. Meanwhile, over in Europe, some of the stadiums at the EP are looking half-empty during matches.

The way Americans handle soccer? Flawless organization and viewership numbers that nobody can touch.
Catwoman in Movies ·
casualotter21 said:Well, there goes my last reason to ever sit through this movie in a theater. They should have just cast Michelle Pfeiffer as Catwoman and let Tim Burton direct. Now THAT would've been a movie. Plus, Halle Berry's costume is just ridiculous. She looks like Mini Mouse with a whip. Total joke.

They messed it all up... If they're going to use hot women as the leads, then actually USE them instead of stunt doubles. And throw in some guys too. Why couldn't they find an actress who could actually pull off the "dangerous" scenes herself?

This hits different than Zoolander. That movie was pure, brilliant absurdity, but this? This is just brilliantly hilarious.

Do it.

Look, the movie was fine. I’ve always been a fan of the Ben Stiller and Owen Wilson combo, so this was a win for me. They were both solid as usual, Will Ferrell was hilarious, Snoop Dogg was just being Snoop Dogg, and you had the whole Playboy Bunny vibe going on. 👍 👍 👍

young.but.dead said:In the Premier League, they just spam high balls and crosses constantly. Fabien Barthez isn't exactly known for his footwork or handling those types of shots. He’s strictly a line keeper.

And where else do they cross that much? By that logic, he could only play in Brazil since they mostly play it on the ground. Honestly, his biggest blunders always came from trying to dribble out of trouble and losing the ball, not from dealing with crosses.

Hajduk Split. Kupija is just Munjoz’s little project, and now suddenly he thinks he's part of the elite. 😁

I said basically nobody. Unless AS Roma, Chelsea FC, Bayern Munich, Liverpool FC, and Manchester United somehow got awarded titles after the fact. They should have just called those games what they actually were: friendlies.

What kind of garbage is this?

I was watching some mindless news on local TV yesterday and they were running promos for the "FIFA Club World Cup on ABC starting July 24th." Today is Celtic vs Chelsea, and I'm guessing tomorrow might be Bayern Munich vs Manchester United, but if anyone actually knows what's going on, let me know. I don't trust a single word coming out of ABC; the whole tournament feels like nothing more than a bunch of glorified friendlies...

We're talking about ABC here. Anyone with half a brain knows they lie constantly. This is just a series of exhibition matches rebranded as the "World Series 2004." It's a joke because almost none of these teams even won their domestic leagues this year.

Why wouldn't England work for Fabien Barthez? The guy is a damn elite keeper! What part of the world is he supposed to be intimidated by?

And Hernán Crespo was absolute class during his time at Chelsea FC. A few injuries held him back, that's all. He'd kill it in England. Endless crosses coming his way.

Look, vividwalker7, I get how the process works. But do you honestly believe every single national team player in Europe is actually good? Some random benchwarmer from Turkey isn't exactly a game-changer. Neither are those random defenders from Sweden or Norway...

It’s not about lacking standards. Arsenal and Manchester United bring in top-tier talent from abroad, sure, but just look at all the absolute garbage sitting in the bottom half of the table... Their whole philosophy seems to be: if they're foreign, they have to be superstars. It's ridiculous. I mean, what sane person would sign a random Sailor or Dragoslav Živković? Now they're wondering why their national team is a total disaster. Maybe if they actually started playing their own homegrown players, things wouldn't suck so much. In Italy and Spain, you see way fewer foreign players, especially at the smaller clubs, and honestly, that's a massive advantage for those leagues.

Give me a break. Telling me Drogba and Kežman are better than Hernán Crespo is ridiculous. Selling Crespo alongside Ronaldo was easily one of the biggest blunders Inter Milan has made in the last five or six years. Sure, Kežman was great in the Netherlands, but I don't recall him scoring a single goal in over 10 or 15 Major League Soccer matches. He wasn't anything special for his national team either.

The English have built this massive commercial circus where clubs just buy foreigners regardless of whether they actually deliver anything useful. On the surface, every team looks like it’s packed with stars, but let’s be real—it’s mostly just aging veterans coasting along. You always see the same two teams sitting at the top, Manchester United and Arsenal. It would be a lot more interesting if someone actually stepped up and shook things up. As for Chelsea FC, the whole thing is a joke. I mean, look at how many players they’ve hauled in this year alone. Does Roman Abramovich even have a plan for all these high-priced talents he keeps collecting? Sending Hernán Crespo out on loan is a perfect example. With all due respect to the rest of his signings—who were bought for ridiculous sums that don't reflect their actual value—Crespo is easily the best player on that roster. So, what's the move now? What happens to Adrian Mutu? And Jimmy?

A massive win for American cinema!!! in Movies ·
We seriously need to drag some foreign producer and director over here by the collar to shoot an action comedy using local talent from the neighborhood. I’d bet my life that some outsider just looking to make a buck would end up making something more watchable and fun than anything ever produced in this country. Around here, "film industry pros" still act like the whole point of a movie is theater acting and making some deep artistic impression. It’s high time they wake up and realize that at the end of the day, it’s all about the money. 😁
