Natural ways to delay my period? in Women's Health ·
Dennis Patel22 said:Does anyone know any other ways to delay my period besides taking pills?

If you don't mind me asking, why would you want to push it back?
It's going to happen eventually anyway; it's not like it's gone for good.

Bad habits and how to break them... in Women's Health ·
Are we talking about some kind of super-absorbent, mega-overnight pads now? 😁
I mean, seriously, how much could you possibly be leaking if those heavy-duty, extra-long overnight ones aren't doing the job? 😕
How to gain weight? in Health ·
Brian Cruz2 said:Hey everyone! 🙂

I've been struggling with being underweight for years now—honestly, just trying everything to gain some weight. I eat basically anything under the sun, from healthy stuff to total junk, fruit, veggies, blah blah blah... but nothing seems to stick. 😢😢 I’m about 5'9" and only 112 lbs. Summer is right around the corner and I'm starting to feel pretty desperate about it. Does anyone have any solid advice on how to actually put on some mass?? 😕

Seriously, who does this person think they are? Who gave them the authority to tell me to go see a gastroenterologist just so I can get actual tests done instead of playing amateur doctor and guessing what’s wrong? Give me a break.
There are honestly so many reasons why nutrient absorption might be hitting a wall, even if you think you’re eating enough fats and calories. Are you really getting what you need? Maybe not.
It’s all just guesswork if you don't actually understand how your own body works.
You can play around with it yourself, or you can go see a professional. Your call.
Look, I get it—most people can't stand doctors. But when you start trying to play amateur medic just to fix yourself, you end up becoming your own worst enemy. Is it really worth the risk?
Good luck! 😉
Sex is fine, but my OBGYN says no?! in Women's Health ·
Chloe Gomez6 said:Ugh, I had the exact same experience during my very first checkup with Bljajić and Petrov about 12 years ago. He tells me to undress, so I do. Then he just says, "Sit right here," on this greasy, filthy exam chair that probably saw a hundred people before me, and I just sit there🤦. Honestly, I remember it like it was yesterday, it was that intense. You know? And get this—my best friend recommended them! She still goes to him, she’s had two kids, and she swears he’s amazing!

If only I had a forum back then to warn me...

😬
I just found my first doctor through the phone book. And honestly? I got lucky, it was a total fluke.😁
But I didn't have a clue about ultrasounds, let alone how they handle cleanings.
The only thing I actually thought ahead was wearing a skirt so it would be easy to pull up.

🙏 Thank God for forums and the internet.

Look, it’s true—there are plenty of total hacks out there in the butchery business. That’s why you shouldn't just pick some random guy you find in the Yellow Pages. Seriously, ask around. Get the scoop from your girlfriends about who actually knows what they're doing and where to go to get things done right.
It isn't illegal to want to avoid unnecessary trauma, is it?
An exam is an exam, as long as you're seeing a real professional.

I really hope you're overthinking this.
Honestly, what you're describing sounds like typical four-year-old behavior. Add the fact that he hasn't been in preschool yet—so he hasn't picked up those little social cues or group dynamics—and it makes total sense.
Before he starts socializing and picking up tricks from other kids, he’s going to be hyper-focused on just one thing. Right now, his whole world is just you and him.
Once he meets more people, that intense focus on your daily routine will start to break up.
He'll learn new games and new ways to play. That toy machine will get old fast, and that car? Instead of just driving it on the roof, he might start driving it over your head if you aren't careful.😉
That ability to lock in on one task for a long time is actually a massive strength. Once he hits elementary school, that focus will be a huge advantage. It's way harder for the kids who can't sit still and concentrate.

Look, maybe talk to a child psychologist or a speech therapist if you're really worried, but don't push him too hard.
There’s really nothing here to lose sleep over.
😘
Found this on an American health forum.

I’d strongly suggest talking to a hematologist first. They really need to figure out why those fibrinogen levels are high. An elevation like that can sometimes signal a higher risk for blood clots, and if that's the case, birth control pills could actually make things worse. Honestly, until you get a specialist's take and finish the full workup, I wouldn't recommend taking Yasmin—or any oral contraceptive, for that matter.
Look, my general rule of thumb is to stay away from hormonal birth control.
But if you're dealing with PCOS and your goal is actually to conceive, using it to regulate your cycles and trigger ovulation might be a necessary evil. Just don't go DIY on this—you really need an expert to guide you through it if you're trying to get pregnant.
If you aren't looking to start a family right now, though, stick to other forms of protection. There's no point in forcing ovulation if you aren't ready for it.
Take a look at how your condition behaves during pregnancy; hormonal contraceptives can actually amp up those symptoms, so it’s better to know what you're walking into before you start planning for the future.
Missing periods: What's your experience? in Women's Health ·
By the way, let’s keep the talk about amenorrhea over here.
As for the food obsession stuff, please head over to the Women's Corner—there's already a thread dedicated to anorexia. Go ahead and vent there as much as you need.

ruggedbadger25 said:Okay, look... I already know I need to put on weight. It’s just not as easy as you make it sound. And honestly, why is everyone acting so surprised by that?
I did some Googling about hormone therapy, and so many sites mention the link to breast cancer. That actually scares me because I had a clear biopsy this summer. Everything was fine after they checked it. Now, I'm supposed to gain 5 kg in the next year, but even thinking about it makes me sick to my stomach.
Hormones don't just cause "slight" weight gain; people can pack on 10 kg in a single week. So please, don't downplay it just because I might be "scared."

From what I can see, we aren't the ones acting surprised—you are. You're just repulsed by the idea of gaining weight.
That kind of mindset doesn't help you heal; it just feeds an eating disorder.
And let's get real: nobody gains 10 kg in seven days out of nowhere. Stop talking nonsense.
You can obsess over biopsies and cancer all you want, but that isn't going to solve anything.
I can tell you're smart enough to research things and find your own answers.
But the bottom line hasn't changed: it's still about anorexia.
You aren't going to hit your target weight at your current size. That's just how biology works.
Look, I'm not your mother, and I'm not here to force you into anything.
You asked, and I gave you my take. That's it.
Honestly? Go focus on finding a healthy way to eat so you don't end up gaining 100 lbs later. If you keep up this attitude, that's exactly where you'll end up—whether it's now or a year from today.

👍 I'm with you on that.

Hormone therapy basically does the heavy lifting for your hormones when your body won't.
You’ll probably gain a little weight, which—let's be honest—is exactly what you need right now.
As far as I know, hormone therapy doesn't cause cancer.
Actually, if you don't "die from anorexia in the meantime," you're more likely to face health issues later if your body just isn't functioning properly.
Missing periods at such a young age means your development isn't where it should be.
And what about your future fertility? I get that kids aren't on your radar today, but who knows what you'll think down the road?
No period, no chance of having kids. Simple as that.
Bottom line: your overall health is tied to your cycle. If that's missing, your health is taking a hit, period.

My advice? Try to put on maybe 10 or 15 pounds. Given your height, that should be enough to jumpstart things, and your period will likely return on its own.
Don't expect it next month, though. It could take six months or even a year.
And no, you don't have to live on junk food to do it. Just stick to three solid meals a day. But actually eat them.
Just wait until you've gone through nine menstrual cycles, then you'll have your answer for sure. 😁 👍
Jessica Brown7 said:Thanks to everyone—things have been looking up a little bit over the last few days. I’ve been making sure she gets out for walks and breathes some fresh air, but it’s like clockwork: once evening hits and she sits down, that dizziness comes rushing back along with everything else. Why does it always seem to happen when things finally quiet down? Why does it always happen right when I sit down? This pounding in my head just won't quit.

It’s because when you're on the move, your brain is already busy juggling a dozen other things.
Once they sit down, just keep on shaving.
The more you describe it, the more I’m convinced this is just a pure psychological thing.

driftingangler24 said:Still, it feels a bit early to send a kid to the OB-GYN just because they started their period. Take Girl 20, who started at 10. Should she have gone to a specialist back then? I honestly think 15 is a better age; before that, it doesn't seem necessary.

Look, you can actually talk to an OB-GYN. They can give you info on so many things. Not everyone has a super open or honest relationship with their mom, and kids often push back when Mom tries to give them advice at that age—especially regarding sex.
You can talk to a doctor about it (and yes, it could be a female doctor).
About sex, how everything works down there, all of it.
Going to the doctor isn't just about lying on a table for an exam. 😉
It’s more complex than that.

I remember being at the age where I already had my period and was checking out boys, yet I had zero clue what sperm even was or how it worked. 😉
Looking back now, I feel like that was... well, let's just say a bit backward.

On top of that, I dealt with incredibly painful periods from the very start.
The only advice my mom ever gave me was to soak some cotton in brandy and stick it in my ear.
And she acted like it actually helped! 🙄🙄🙄
Her whole attitude was basically, "It's shameful, don't talk about it."
Eventually, I just hit my limit. I dragged myself through the pain to the pharmacy, which meant taking a bus ride. I almost passed out on the way.
I know for a fact I sat outside the pharmacy for about an hour; I literally couldn't find the strength to stand up and walk inside.

Kenneth Jackson30 said:Just because you've seen a psychiatrist doesn't mean it isn't psychological. Mental health issues don't mean someone has "lost their mind." It could easily be psychosomatic, and if you've already cleared all those medical tests, I honestly don't know what else it could be.

Exactly. Winter is finally winding down, and just the lack of sunlight can trigger these kinds of symptoms.
And how's life treating you? Dissatisfaction, feeling like things are a mess, the constant weight of expectations—all of that can throw your body completely out of whack.
A total lack of motivation...
It's high stress, but at its core, it's psychosomatic.

amberheron64 said:My mom told me the exact same thing—that there was no way I was seeing a gynecologist.. she goes regularly, though. So I just told her that I’d start going too (just so I wouldn't have to hide it anymore)
And she reacted like I told her I murdered someone, not that I wanted a checkup. So now we're playing hide-and-seek. I'll probably head in tomorrow.😍

😲😲😲

I honestly cannot believe mothers today—I mean, hello? It's the 2010s! How can they be stopping their daughters from seeing a gynecologist?
Stopping a girl from seeing a doctor isn't going to stop her from having sex or catching an infection, but skipping those checkups can lead to massive problems if something actually goes wrong.
It's not just about right now; it's about future fertility, pregnancy, and general health down the road.
Nobody stays sixteen forever.
Sadly, so many women don't realize what they've missed until they hit their thirties.

I have a little girl who's 1.5 years old.
Once she gets her first period, she'll be heading to the gynecologist.

This whole situation is just like the dentist. It's like saying, "Why bother going if you still have teeth?" until everything starts rotting. Then you're dealing with cavities, plaque, and crooked teeth...
Unbelievable...
Tyler Ruiz502 said:Since I’m hardly a regular around here—and let’s be honest, I doubt anyone actually cares about my specific drama—I should probably wrap this whole saga up. Those contractions kept coming... but by this morning, it was painfully obvious that my period was finally arriving. Between the lower back pain and the cramping everywhere else, I knew it was going to be a rough one. I braced myself for the worst, and after taking some Advil, the pain actually knocked me out cold. It was brutal. Anyway, yeah, the period is officially here.. 🙄

Well, the disappointment has arrived. 👎
Now I guess I can move on to being a total 😉 just kidding... but seriously, I’m so glad I found this group. I’ve learned so much about what might be ahead for me one day.

Thanks 🙂 👋

😘 So sorry to hear about M.

I was just thinking about how nobody ever actually follows through to the end of a story on here.
Periods pass, users disappear...
Symptoms get forgotten... And wouldn't it be nice to actually learn how all this stuff works?
Hardly anyone ever goes to the 😢FBI...
At first, there are so many questions and everyone is dying for answers, but then the actual answers just dry up.

Thanks for the info. 👍

Jerry Newman2 said:Hey everyone! 🙂 So, my boyfriend and I just moved into an apartment over in the West Village about two weeks ago. Since I’m planning on making this place my permanent home, I really need to get settled. Does anyone have recommendations for a good GP or a dentist around here? Also, if you know a solid gynecologist at a local health center, please let me know. I'd love some reliable leads! 😕

There aren't any dentists around here—at least, I don't think so. You’ll probably have to head out to Sioux Falls. Dr. Juic He’s officially the fastest dentist on the planet. Honestly, it's kind of mind-blowing. 👍
