Unbeatable movie...Dances with Wolves...personally my favorite of his...the acting, the cinematography, John Barry's score... Everything about it just works... a masterpiece ☕
Edit: The Untouchables...as Eliot Ness...definitely another great role for him...playing against Connery...top tier
Meryl Streep passed away... was only 49... damn, what is life even for... you leave too young... I guess he was solid in the Constitution, but I mostly remember him from The Joker...
I feel like I need to bring this up again... it's weird to me that there isn't more discussion about this cinematic masterpiece. Just caught it on PBS, and honestly, it's pure FILM-MANIA. I saw it once maybe ten years ago, but I figured I'd give it another look today, and I don't regret it. Hard to say what hits harder—the acting, the atmosphere, those incredible landscape shots—but the thing that really gets me is that motherfucking MUSIC. That feeling where you're just humming the melody all day long. A total Leone masterpiece from start to finish. The tension during that final showdown between Bronson and the Henry fund, those stares, the silence, then just 🙏 🙏 🙏 You can't stay indifferent to it... it's impossible...👍
It’s about this 19th-century visionary who started the Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus, basically creating the biggest spectacle the world had ever seen.
I guess I missed the thread for this movie, which hit US theaters back on December 28, 2017.
Caught it yesterday. Honestly? I was pleasantly surprised. It was actually pretty good—the choreography was great, and the leads could really sing. In my opinion, if you look past his role as Wolverine, Hugh Jackman gave the performance of a lifetime here. He was solid in Les Misérables, but maybe he’s even better in this one. If you're into musicals, you'll probably dig it. I’m no critic, and I’m definitely not a musical buff, but this was captivating. The music and the acting just let those heavy emotions hit you right in the face from the big screen. Pretty intense.
Watched it last night... classic Michael Bay... lots of explosions and stuff getting wrecked... I guess it was decent, maybe better than the first part of this new trilogy... If you're into that kind of thing, go for it...☕
Steven White96 said:pretty boring movie. I kept waiting for something actually happening out in the jungle, but most of it is just people wandering around America, philosophizing about how and why and when. It was a missed opportunity, honestly. Just totally missed the mark.
I grew up on Superman films; they're timeless... I prefer Superman Returns... it had soul, it had that certain something, and I think Kate Bosworth was a much better Lois Lane than Amy Adams. 8.5/10... I saw it back in 2006 at the old Capitol Center with a coupon from the Metropolis Gazette 🍿... you know, those ones that used to be free... 😁... plenty of theaters, maybe you were in the same one, Ethan Martin... when that opening scene started... man, just... wow... 🙏🙏🙏 Man of Steel was a bit disappointing for me because it felt like they threw everything at the wall, even if Henry Cavill isn't bad—actually, he's pretty good... if Singer had kept working on Superman, maybe it would've been better, but that's just a guess... 😁 7/10 I'm way too subjective when it comes to Superman. He's my favorite DC hero, so maybe I'm not the best person to judge this 😁 😉
The Shack is about a father dealing with the aftermath of his daughter, Missy, being kidnapped and killed during a family trip. All that was left behind was her bloody dress, which police found in an abandoned shack out in the Oregon wilderness. Four years later, a grieving Mack gets this strange message—an invitation to return to that very same shack. He hesitates, but he goes anyway and ends up meeting God. Or rather, the Holy Trinity, appearing as a kind, bubbly Black woman named Elousie (the Father), a short man with Middle Eastern features (the Son), and a gentle Asian woman named Azijka Saray (the Holy Spirit). After getting answers to some pretty heavy questions, Mack finds peace with God, whom he had almost given up on after losing his daughter.
Anyone seen this? It's a good movie, based on a book that became another bestseller in the USA and everywhere else... Watched it yesterday. It was alright, I guess. Pretty emotional and full of messages. A bit different from the usual stuff we see... worth a look. 👍
Can someone explain how we only gave up 22 goals in 60 minutes? I guess if that isn't proof our defense held its own against the Vikings, I don't know what is.
