velvettiger10 said:You’re just acting out because you’re pissed off right now. Honestly, just dump that whole mess onto your husband and tell him to go handle it. 🤷

Believe me, the rage already passed. I showed that guy exactly how it is the last time he stepped foot on my property. He saw what happens when an old lady loses her cool—his beard was practically shaking, I kid you not. The neighbors definitely heard it all...
I’m just not backing down this time...
slywolf45 said:I’d guess maybe 5 or 6.. 🤔

digits...🤣

But we’re looking at 10. That’s easily another 2,000 over the quoted price... though they calculated it as 26k for us.
He’s floating around somewhere, hopefully he isn't some total scammer... or a creep... and don't even get me started on the walls he left behind. It's not just a hole, it's a crater. I probably needed half a can of spray foam to fix it.
velvettiger10 said:Damn, why shouldn't he? If he already handed over the cash, then fine, let him see the job through to the end. 😁

Ugh... don't even get me started... my man, he's just like, "Eh, let them be... who cares..."
He won't touch it. He had his showdown with the guy—God, I should have recorded it—I didn't even realize my husband could get that heated 🤣... and this guy went ahead and paid up immediately, well, part of it. Now it's my turn.
But nope, he's not dealing with me... I'm standing my ground. This guy picked the wrong house to mess with this time...

The thing is, whenever stuff like this happens, people just stay quiet. They swallow it, they stew on it internally, but they're too polite or too afraid of making enemies... whereas guys like this Pero character (that's what my son calls him, he said it once and the guy lost it... he actually called me to complain about being called that, but I could hear him provoking the kid, and thank God my boy has a mouth on him, he really rattled the guy's brain 🤣)...

We were dying laughing at how my little guy shut him down... but the guy just got even more worked up....

Oh man, I just remembered—my kid was playing in his playroom, and this guy was over here drilling a hole and trying to pry information out of the kid along the way... And then, the guy just stands there while the kid keeps playing, asking him questions about his games and toys... and my boy just gets up from the floor, looks him dead in the eye, and goes: "Got a life? Go do something else!"😂😂

He’s just standing there looking completely dazed... meanwhile, I’m over here losing my mind because some 8-year-old kid totally schooled him.
mistyharbor8 said:I picked up some Gavidet Mini. The lady at CVS told me it works best with my first morning bathroom trip, but honestly, I’m such a sleepyhead that getting up early is a struggle.

Well, yeah, pretty much all of them work on that same principle. And don't even get me started on sleeping—I can easily pull twelve hours if I let myself (sometimes I'm still dragging myself out of bed at 10 AM)... but then again, there are those mornings where you're up at the crack of dawn anyway because your nerves are shot and won't let you rest. So don't sweat it. Just make sure that once you finally do roll out of bed, you grab that first pee for the test. I used to just use a little plastic cup.

Waiting on those results tomorrow morning...😛 🙂 😉
Ryan Morris15 said:I suppose there isn't really a rule saying you have to get up at dawn; you could probably wait until noon if you wanted, though I think it matters that it's the very first urine of the day. It seems the hormone concentration is highest then, whereas if you've been sipping water all day, the concentration might be a bit too diluted.

Exactly! 😉

slywolf45 said:My friend shelled out about 25k for the whole gas line setup, new radiators, and a high-end boiler—something like a Carrier or a Rheem $0.00. But keep in mind, she didn't just hire some guy from Craigslist to do it on the side. 🤷

How many radiators are we even talking about here? Give me a specific count...
What would you guys do if you were in my shoes? in Miscellaneous ·
Look, we had everything laid out in black and white... everything was set. He took the money upfront and even said it was enough to cover that first phase, you know, the plumbing work...

Then he starts dragging his feet for days over some water heater. We went ahead and hired contractors, but of course, there’s still no water heater in sight... so I finally told him I’d just buy it myself, and that’s when he completely lost it. Just started throwing a massive tantrum...
It’s like, he hadn't factored that in. He thought everything was included in the initial quote and now he’s claiming he has to change the whole deal... yeah, that's where the drama started...

Fast forward to when he finally wrapped everything up... they squeezed us for extra material costs and that was that. Everything seemed fine until Dr. Dan showed up asking for cash in advance... (for the wedding guests)...

I wasn't about to hand it over. He spent three whole days practically begging me, and eventually, my husband gave in... and now? Now he’s just refusing to do any more work...

***
So, I sent everyone messages on Facebook today. I told them I want to see that money back by 8:00 PM tonight, or else I’m sending those messages to everyone I know...

I even called him. I asked, "Is your computer working?" Silence. I ask again, "Is it working or is it broken?"
He says it works. I say, "Great, then check your Facebook messages..."

Things are going to get ugly today...

So, am I being reasonable here?
Or how would you guys handle this mess?
Honestly, I'm at my wit's end trying to figure out how to actually get my money back...

slywolf45 said:You should’ve just found a contractor through Facebook. 😳

Honestly, since this whole story is such a mess, I’m dying to know—how much did they actually charge you in total? What was the final damage?

If I wrote everything down... ugh... who would even bother reading it?
First, they tracked us down $2000, we gave them what they needed, they bought the supplies (pipes and stuff...), added another 500-$200 and then those other $333, from which he’s already returned 500, and now I’m still hunting for another 200.

The materials were about $1500, the pipes are still sitting in the garage, but they billed us (they lost track of everything because I was paying and my husband was handing over cash without really knowing what was happening) as if they charged about $1000 for the labor, just for running a few meters of pipe. We measured them by the foot, but I don't know the exact amount now...

I went out and bought the water heater myself with a 25% discount (and that’s where the fighting started) because he wanted to pocket the discount for himself, but I wasn't having any of it...
The unit arrived around 6 $167 24kW, combo style, digital, Valiant.

We had the gas company people, plus a private contractor who hooked up the gas to the heater—he took about $833—then the authorized tech for the heater took $83, and the electrician who wired it up... well, I think it was $33.

All of that was extra. And our neighbor Perry isn't part of that deal; he wasn't there for that, he was paid separately... and we overpaid him big time because the guy insisted on being paid upfront for all the work and now he's backing out...

But not me....🙂🙂
He has no idea how much trouble I can cause when I really get going....
The final bill: so far, roughly $3.75.... and that's without a single radiator in the house! There are supposed to be 10 of them, we're looking for them now, I think they'll cost around 6000-something, we were told yesterday... and I think we'll handle that part through some acquaintances who won't charge us a fortune, but that's another story. I'm not letting anyone rip us off...
velvettiger10 said:My water heater arrives today! 🎉🎉🎉

I'd tell you how much I paid my plumber, but I won't. 😁
I don't want you stressing over how expensive your service turned out to be.
🤣

Come on, tell me...
How much did your water heater run you? What's the KW?🙏 I went and hunted one down myself...

We already know about the last thing, but go ahead, tell me...

I know that for a radiator (meaning, that includes the piping, valves... everything) private contractors usually charge about 300-

$117Unbelievable!!

So our neighbor Perry was lowkey trying to bake in an extra $200!! He kept it totally under wraps until we were actually ready to pull the trigger on a new water heater. Then, out of nowhere, he lets slip how he was planning to pocket a 25% discount for himself. I just looked at him and said, "Wait a second, maybe I should be taking that cut too..."

Eventually, we had to corner him and make him come clean about everything... because up until that point, he’d been padding his initial estimates, making it impossible to see what the actual costs were...

I know for a fact that in the end, he offered us a total of around 26 $167 for the whole job. Meanwhile, some other local contractor had sent over a quote for as much as 40 $0.00, so yeah, we definitely took his deal...

But honestly? We got bogged down in all these other little details...

Anonymous said:Just be a big shot and hire them back for some other odd jobs around the house. Honestly, why make things complicated? 😳

I honestly never want to lay eyes on them again. Like, seriously, where would they even go? They can't just wander into my backyard. My neighbor is basically my age—we’re talking a three-day difference, which is nothing—but man, I just realized what an absolute piece of work she is. And don't even get me started on that guy she's with. What a total loser.
Laura Evans3 said:Nah.
Yeah. Exactly.
Yeah. Exactly.
Yeah. 4. Yes.
Yeah, exactly. You said it.
So, she went and got herself absolutely crushed by interest rates. Seriously. I mean, how does that even happen? You think you've got a handle on things, you think you're playing it smart, and then—bam—the math catches up to you. It’s always the same story, isn't it? One minute you're feeling untouchable, and the next, the banks are basically feeding on you. Just constant, relentless interest. How much can one person actually take before they just hit a wall? It’s exhausting just watching it unfold. ☕

🙏🙏 If I were answering all of them... man, you better grab a seat. Seriously. Just sit down.😁😁
I was just sitting here thinking... maybe I shouldn't go with 200. No, that's not right. Maybe more? Or less? Honestly, who knows. Just one of those thoughts circling my head. $100.

I forgot to mention that part... about the actual workload. Honestly, out of everyone, only about three of us actually put in any real effort. $0.00What do we all think? Honestly, everyone. We even went as far as calling his old boss at General Electric—the guy practically took himself out of the running once he saw what he’d turned our house into and how much he was trying to bill us. It’s just too much. Way over the line. But now we’re stuck dealing with the fallout, aren't we? And we're the idiots for letting it happen. I mean, you think, "Oh, he's just the neighbor, we know each other, our kids play together in the driveway..." Right. As if that matters. He has no clue. His wife actually leaned right over my fence and made a comment about my chest... can you believe that? Just total madness. 🤣Just some local idiot... messed up big time, and then, boom—she's already pulling that shirt right over her head. Typical.😲😲I didn't catch that part, and honestly? It’s probably for the best. That whole thing is just the cherry on top... a little extra sugar to throw at someone right before you decide to run them over.☕
mistyharbor8 said:I'll let you guys know. Just tell me roughly which test I should pick up

I bought one for her once—already mentioned this, I think—it was probably that Gravidette Mini or something like that... anyway, it runs about $11 and gives a pretty clear line or two.

I’ve been sitting here for days, just staring at this screen, wondering if I should even bother posting this. Honestly? I'm not even sure if I'm doing the right thing anymore. Everything feels a bit up in the air. So, yeah... if anyone has any advice, I'd really appreciate it. Any of it.

Alright, look. I’ll give you the short version of what happened and where things went sideways. I'm just going to lay out the essentials here. If I tried to write out every single little detail, we'd be sitting here all day and I'd end up filling an entire book. Let's just get to the point.

It all started about three or four months back. We finally made the call to get gas lines run into the house. I mean, we already had the main line running right up to the property, but everything inside was strictly electric. So, we figured, why not? Let’s just take it one step at a time—start with getting the hot water situation sorted out. Small wins, right? Or so we thought.

They were asking around, poking their noses into everything. Walking every inch of the place, checking who’s actually better, who’s cheaper, what the fine print says on the contracts... honestly, they went over every single detail. Everything.
By the way, we’ve got two neighbors doing the exact same thing. One’s a full-blown independent contractor, and the other used to work for him back in the day. The first guy spends most of his time out on the coast working—you know how it is, always busy—so we ended up having to swing by the doctor's office just to track down a preliminary estimate and all that other paperwork. It's a whole process.

Out of everything we looked at, that neighbor of ours went and offered the absolute cheapest option on the table. And of course, he volunteered to do the whole thing himself. I mean, what can you even say? He’s right there, so it’s convenient... plus, if we hired someone else, we'd end up driving them around anyway, and then we'll be listening to him complain about gas money before the job's even done. So, I told him straight: we’re doing this in stages. We'll tackle the bathroom first, and once we've actually managed to scrape enough cash together, we'll deal with the rest of the mess. One step at a time, right?

That day he brought over the estimate, I just sat there, completely stunned. It was like looking at a riddle instead of a quote. They’d list the materials, sure, but next to them? Nothing. Just "piece" or "foot." No individual prices, nothing. Just one big, intimidating final total slapped at the bottom. I looked at him and asked, "Look, can we get a little more detail here? Like, how much are we actually talking about for the radiators, or the water heater...?" And he just gives me this look. Like I'm being difficult. He goes, "Don't even worry about it. I'll handle all of that. It's taken care of." Seriously? Is that how things work now? You just hand someone a massive number and tell them to trust the process? Since when did "trust me" become a valid line item in a budget?

I guess that’s fine, then. At least we won't have to go running all over the place... or whatever else they've written down.
He rolls in with his wife in tow, and wouldn't you know it? She’s already handing over a pair of khakis, asking me to hem them... Honestly, does it ever end?😲
He wanted the cash upfront. Seriously. And he actually had the nerve to claim that amount covers the whole job... you know, everything except the water heater. Can you believe that? Just walking in here asking for the money before he's even picked up a wrench. Does he think I'm made of money or something? It’s just one thing after another.

So, I went ahead and did it. Made the whole thing, dropped it off, asked about the bill... and then, right there in front of them, I just threw it out there. Like, "Hey, if you could just swap out that kitchen faucet while you're at it?" You know? Just a little something extra. Is that too much to ask? Probably. But hey, why not?
Well, maybe... I guess... if you really want to go there. Or not. It’s all up in the air, isn't it? Just one of those things.

I don't want to go on forever about how things used to be... just skipping over it now. Why bother?

Started working... god, what a grind. I mean, seriously, maybe two or three holes a day if I'm lucky? It’s been three weeks now and all I’ve managed is a handful of holes and a few M-pipes. And that’s only because we had some help on the job. What a joke.

The day finally arrived when it all ended. Or maybe it just stopped? I don't know anymore. It’s funny how you spend all that time bracing for the impact, waiting for the hammer to drop, and then... nothing. Just silence. Is that what we were actually looking for? A quiet exit? Everything feels different now, or maybe I'm just tired. Honestly, who can even tell anymore? 🙏🙏 So, he went ahead and swapped out the tap water and the faucet... just like that. Like, we didn't even agree on that part. Honestly, what is it with people? Just doing whatever they want without checking in first. Does anyone actually listen anymore? No. Apparently not.

So, I told them—they finally went ahead and bought me that new water heater—that we’re going to settle the score by autumn, once we hit the second phase of this whole mess. I sat down and crunched all the numbers myself. They tried to tack on another few hundred bucks here and there, claiming that was it, but yeah... we'll see about that.

Catch you later for part two of this whole mess.

If that was all there was to it, I wouldn't be sitting here typing this up right now... would I?
He showed up again the second day after the ceremony, asking if we could toss him a bit more. Like he didn't get enough the first time around? Honestly, who does that? $333 Hell, they’re heading off to a wedding... they need stuff. I say, no, we don't have any.

So, things kicked off with a massive blowout. But look, I’m just saying—he needs work, and we all need a way to pay the bills, right? That’s just how the world turns. Anyway, for three days straight, he was basically hovering around, begging for cash. And then, get this—he actually went behind my back and pinched some money from me. I didn't even realize he'd done it until after the fact. Can you believe that? I didn't give him permission, yet there it goes. Just... wow.
He just told me while we were sitting there crunching the numbers how much more cash we’re going to need... God, I was losing my mind. Just completely spiraling.

So, I’m walking along, just passing by while he was busy wiring things up, and I figure, why not? I ask him straight out, "Alright, look, what kind of rate are you actually looking for?" You know, because it's never written down anywhere. And then he just... he just blanks me. Total nothing. $2000!!!😲😲

How much? Seriously, have you guys lost your minds? For that kind of money, a regular employee would be putting in three full months at a firm like Amazon, yet here you are, trying to squeeze people into jobs for just three weeks. It’s absolute madness. What are you even thinking?
Private contractors are asking for about... what? It feels like the numbers just keep climbing every time you look. Honestly, does anyone actually know where the ceiling is on this anymore? It’s getting ridiculous. $1000Seriously, though... it’s like half the price of that guy who does hack jobs. Why would you even bother?

So, Kim Kardashian just popped up right in front of our eyes... honestly, can we even be surprised at this point?

So I said... my husband... two months have passed already. They actually called him up to try and settle things for the future... and he just bailed. He walked away from the job entirely. And the kicker? We actually handed him money on top of everything else. Just gave it to him. Can you believe that? $333.

So I told him, look, it’s fine, no big deal—just give back the money you borrowed. And that was it. Total meltdown. Suddenly everyone’s getting worked up and shouting over each other, claiming he hasn't got a clue what we're even talking about. They started going on about how he wasn't even on the payroll here... as if that changes anything. Is it really that complicated? Honestly.😲I mean, whatever... just blah blah blah.

So, basically, he’s refusing to pay me back. Just straight-up digging his heels in. Then my guy starts getting aggressive with him—making threats and all that—and honestly? I’m right there with him. He needs to cough up the cash. Period.

He gave me a deadline of just a few days... which led to us having these absolute battles over the phone... uh... how do I even put it...

And he refuses to hand over the cash until he sees that the damn joke is over, finally saying, fine, I'm giving you back the $167, and I'm shouting, no, it's 700 (turns out he forgot to charge for that faucet and only took 200—so he was $100 up)...

So I told him, okay, just give me 500 and $67 for the pants I sewed. Now, here’s where the neighbor drama kicks in... She claims she has no clue about any money, swears they didn't borrow anything, but after I gave her a little "friendly" reminder, she suddenly remembered 🙏 that they actually did borrow it and that I did the sewing.

And now I'm out here asking for my $67 for the work I did...
She has the nerve to ask how I can be so rude, demanding so much for such a small job. I told her straight: just like your husband can be rude by charging $67 to swap out a basic kitchen faucet, I can be just as bold and demand pay for my labor. My hands and my expertise aren't free...
He ended up returning the $167.
Long story short, she still hasn't paid me back. I don't want to keep calling her, but I can never seem to catch her out on the street or at the local grocery store...

So, I finally tracked down her daughters on Facebook. I sent them a message telling them to tell their mom to pay back the money she borrowed, with a deadline of tomorrow, Friday.
I saw her outside briefly and mentioned they got the message, but there's been zero response. No message back, nothing.
I wrote back saying if she doesn't pay, the whole town is going to find out exactly what kind of people they are and that they basically stole from me...

So, what would you guys do:

1. Just walk away from my $67?
2. Keep chasing them down?
3. Leave another message?
4. Tag all their friends on Facebook with a little "nudge," you know, something like, "Hey, just so you know, the neighbor owes me money and won't pay up"?
5. Am I in the right here? Is this the right move?
6. What would you do in my shoes?
mistyharbor8 said:Well, I’m still pretty young. Just 32, haha. Honestly, I’m really hoping I’m actually expecting, though it might be a little early to tell. I’m only three days late, and I’ve always been a skeptic when it comes to those home tests. Guess I'll just have to hang in there for a few more days before heading to my OB-GYN.

Ugh, I'm already 36. I feel like I'm aging by the second 🤣... like the youth is just slipping through my fingers...

If you've got the patience to sit around and wait, fine, go ahead. Personally? I wouldn't. Just grab a $11 test; they work well enough. Besides, what's the point of rushing to the doctor this early? There's nothing to see yet—just a lot of fuss and a two-week wait for an appointment, and let's be real, we usually already know the answer anyway...😁

Keep us posted on how it turns out, okay? Let us know if it's a plus or if Aunt Flo just showed up early.😉
mistyharbor8 said:Sorry if I overstepped by asking. Just wondering if I might be too, though maybe I'm just waiting on baby number four. You seem pretty experienced, so I thought I'd check.

No, it doesn't bother me. Honestly, this is what these forums are for—people ask things, and if someone doesn't want to answer, they just say "it's private" or whatever. No big deal.

I'm not going to hide the fact that I'm a mom. I've been around the block a few times, I've got the years and the experience to prove it... so I share what I know when I can.

Anyway, if there really is a little one on the way for you... well, I wish you nothing but the best.😉
mistyharbor8 said:rapidrider3, sorry if I'm being too nosy, but how many kids do you have?

I've got three boys—15, 13, and 8.
And then there were three others who didn't make it... lost them during pregnancy. My last one passed away last year at 17 weeks. That was my first baby with my second husband.
mistyharbor8 said:Thanks for getting back to me. It wasn't clear. My period was regular, but it’s late this month. I've been feeling some pregnancy symptoms, though I honestly thought I couldn't get pregnant while breastfeeding my little one.

Regarding the cyst thing, that answer is for the girl above, not you...🤣
I just used multi-quote so I wouldn't have to make a whole separate post...

Don't kid yourself—you can absolutely get pregnant. Breastfeeding isn't birth control...😁

Just go buy a test and stop stressing over it...😉
Thomas Lewis10 said:I’m originally from Mexico, and I honestly have no idea what the medical standards are like over in the States. Back home? It’s a different story. The doctors here can be incredibly rude—it’s almost like they’re just waiting for an excuse to kick you out of the office. It’s a sad reality, but it’s true.
rapidrider3 was performing the ultrasound, and even with the probe, he couldn't see anything definitive. He initially dismissed any chance of pregnancy, but then this tiny little spot showed up on the uterus. Now he's saying it could actually be a pregnancy after all. So, we're just playing the waiting game to see if I'll actually get my positive result. I'm feeling a bit anxious right now... what if things start getting complicated?

The only other thing is if you have a small cyst. They have a way of messing with your cycle and making it late. My periods used to be delayed by almost three weeks because of them, and mine were huge—like 3x3 inches...
Just go grab a test and you'll know by tomorrow morning. Good luck.😉
mistyharbor8 said:Hey ladies! Quick question—not quite sure where to post this, so I figured I'd try here. Is it okay to get pregnant if my 3-year-old is still nursing? Thanks for any help!

Yeah, you definitely can. I know women who got pregnant just two months after giving birth and ended up nursing both babies at once...
Thomas Lewis10 said:Hello everyone... I am in desperate need of your help because I am feeling completely lost right now... I went to see my OB-GYN this morning since my period is ten days late, just to figure out what's going on. During the ultrasound, the doctor mentioned seeing a small spot in my uterus, but he couldn't confirm anything else yet... Does anyone know what that could mean? Is it possible that I'm pregnant? And if it is, how far along could I be if it looks like nothing more than a tiny speck? I haven't even told my husband yet... I am just so incredibly anxious about all of this... Thank you all so much in advance for any answers you can give me.

It’s probably a pregnancy. At that stage, you might just see a little speck, but in a few days, it’ll be bigger and much clearer.
If you can, grab a test today and take it first thing in the morning. Just get one of those $11 basic ones from CVS or Walgreens; they're perfectly fine... they show everything you need to know.😉
Look, everything happens when it’s meant to happen, so don't sweat it too much.. if it doesn't show up this month, maybe try that pillow trick next month.... you'll see, that positive result will pop up before you know it.👍

Personally, I can't stand the atmosphere in certain parts of this site. You’ve got people throwing around bans like they're candy, yet they can't even string together a coherent sentence, let alone explain themselves. It feels like someone gets slapped with a ban just for having the nerve to ask a question, and then some moderator wipes out their entire post—which was probably a massive, rambling mess anyway—leaving nothing behind. And what happens to the person who actually asked the question? Their question just hangs there in mid-air, unanswered. A whole bunch of unanswered questions... sigh... it's pathetic, really. These kinds of forums with these kinds of moderators... just sad.

They could use a reality check themselves... maybe a little warning... so they don't think they're untouchable gods looking down on us mere mortals.

But, feraltrucker5, thanks for the invite, but I'll pass... good luck to you and the rest of that crowd over there...🤣

They start banning people for stuff that isn't even written down anywhere...new users don't know the "rules," but they sure as hell know how to get hit with a warning...
