I actually had the same impulse today—thinking about picking it up—but then I started doing the mental math: it’s not exactly the kind of movie I’m going to want to watch over and over again, $10...plus, those new undies are hitting Topshop tomorrow, and they're 40 bucks...so, yeah, my decision was made...😬

On top of that, I can't even button my favorite shorts because I gained a few pounds again this month. I really need to drop at least 5 or 6 pounds—please help me find something effective and fast... any ideas? 🙂
Look, just try fasting for those two weeks. Maybe eat one tiny snack on Sunday and call it a day. And drink plenty of water. You'll definitely lose the weight. 🙂
And if you honestly can't handle going without food, just try sticking two fingers down your throat and into the toilet every time you overeat. It works just fine. 🙂
Let them try to ban smoking. They can swallow all the tobacco smoke (burnt 😁) they want until they choke. As if banning it would actually work... give me a break...
They should just stay home and keep their own habits to themselves instead of pushing these fascist tactics on everyone else. 🙂
That absolute moron Republican brought them up on Reddit yesterday—using them as some prime example of high-quality indie filmmaking—all while we were debating how the government funds American cinema and its blatant political leanings. 🙄It honestly took me a few minutes to process just how much of a total mess that take was.
hr.mladez is politically active. Honestly, they’re just more of the same crowd I was venting about in my last post on the previous page. They're out there pulling all sorts of strings behind the scenes while we're left completely in the dark...

Being raised in a staunchly conservative-Catholic environment leaves some pretty nasty scars. Of course kids from those homes end up voting Republican... their entire worldview is built on the specific model they grew up in—the family acting as a micro-cell of society, traditional values, and all that other stuff 🙂 . Consequently, anything even remotely smelling of leftist ideology seems completely insane to them—totally unthinkable ... Unfortunately, people today are incredibly superficial—I can't tell you how many times I've been labeled just because of my own perspectives—and they haven't the slightest clue about the history of political thought or political theory. They just think "leftist" means being a veggie, wearing Birkenstocks, and hanging out in hippie communes, while "right-wing" is all about the church, grabbing coffee at a local diner, and reading Hemingway... so that's exactly how they act.🙂
No, seriously—why on earth would internal funding issues even matter to them? Even if the money was coming from Soros... at least I’m actually getting a chance to see what I’m interested in. 😁
I can see what’s going on here—there’s definitely some shady maneuvering happening behind my mother's back. To be fair, she’s doing perfectly fine, and honestly, if it weren't for her, half the things in this city—okay, maybe even a fifth of 😁—wouldn't be happening at all. Now, someone might have overcharged them by a few bucks, who knows? Maybe it was just Plax being careless; he's been a bit scattered lately anyway 😂
And what does any of this have to do with my mother? They get their funding from overseas regardless... don't they?
The movie is, at the very least, absolutely stunning. It’s pure Burton—taking that sense of childhood wonder and grounding it in reality. He blends the two so seamlessly that even when things veer into the surreal or feel totally absurd, there's this moment where the entire narrative snaps back into focus, making everything feel completely logical, if not more so! I have some gripes with the dramatic structure, though. The history is either presented through flashbacks of the father or via the stories the son tells about him. Fortunately, the fairytale segments (obviously) take up much more screen time than the "present day" stuff, but the gap between the two is so massive and glaringly obvious that it actually feels a bit jarring at times. 😁 There is just one single scene that successfully bridges the gap between the fable and reality, matching the atmosphere and spirit of those flashbacks perfectly—that moment where they're sitting at the table, eating, while the Father talks about the parrots.
For a second there, I honestly thought the film might turn into a total tear-jerker mush, but thankfully, the cast managed to steer clear of that thin line of pure sentimentality. The ending is handled in a really fascinating way, though I won't go so far as to say it wasn't predictable...
One final note—Ewan McGregor is fantastic, as usual... honestly, in whatever role he takes on, the man is simply brilliant.
I’m telling you, from the bottom of my heart, you really ought to track down some musicians who specialize in Klezmer. To me, that kind of music just feels like wedding music—nothing else, really. 👍
Maybe they should just implement some kind of quota system—kind of like how things were handled in the United Kingdom back in the 1930s. Then, maybe, we’d actually see some real filmmaking happening. I honestly don't doubt for a second that you could turn out a top-tier movie with half the budget these people blow on a single project.
