Things are heating up! in Movies ·
Seriously? Is it even the same scene? You know, the one where they’re supposed to be hugging and shaking hands? 😕

Regardless, the whole thing just felt incredibly fake to me.
Look, thankfully I wasn't right there in the middle of it, so I can't say for sure, but... I never in a million years would have expected them to act like a bunch of confused toddlers.

Well, she’s right there at the border. 😁

When they start "showing good faith"—you know, standing guard together—and you see one guy offering to pick up a pack of diapers for his neighbor...

Zalica mentioned in an interview that he originally intended to film an American version of Amarcord. Look, the movie is fine—it holds its own—but calling it "amarcordish"... I just don't buy it.😕

And there’s this one scene that is just—honestly, it's completely ridiculous. 👎 When it comes to that scene at the border—where everyone suddenly needs to make amends—it just feels cheap. It’s tacky, unconvincing, and honestly? It feels like the polar opposite of everything else going on in the film. Because of that, and because the movie leans so heavily into those retrospective, memory-driven moments, the whole thing ends up feeling disjointed and aimless. It lacks a cohesive core. Such a shame, really.
In any case, I’ll definitely be giving it another watch.
Hmm, wouldn't you call that a full-blown panic attack?
Hold on, just a second... heart palpitations? Are we talking about something actually unusual here?😕 I’m not following...
Speaking of arrhythmias... a close friend of mine deals with one. Honestly, giving them a hug is such a bizarre experience. It’s like their heart never settles into a steady beat—it’s constantly tripping over itself. It's actually pretty unsettling...

Just so you know, Unexpected Force has officially broken up... just passing along the info! 🙂

+Anyone here happen to be in Small Town, USA when they were playing the soundtrack for that silent film (Golem)?
Massive Attack in Music ·
But don't you worry—I actually ran into a few of them last week, and they’ve clearly got some kind of chemical motivation driving them to make their way back to New York City!!! 👋
Massive Attack in Music ·
Oh yeah, they are absolutely phenomenal!!!! If I remember correctly, they played at The Fillmore, or somewhere along those lines... though I think that was actually before the Open Fest started. I just spotted their CDs in a shop in New York City earlier—they were only about five bucks... such a steal. 👍I'm honestly kicking myself for not picking any up; I blew my entire budget on books instead.

By the way, have you ever listened to Rage Against the Machine?
Tribute to Queen in Music ·
Pointless.
Isn't there something similar happening on a regular basis over at the Kulusic venue? They used to host those Queen tribute acts all the time back then...

Honestly, they really went overboard with those Queen tributes—I mean, respect to them and all, but still...👎

Wait, excuse me, Massimo?😲 Was he actually the one singing yesterday or what?😕
Tribute to Queen in Music ·
Wait, are you seriously telling me the concert lasted only an hour and a half and you actually dropped $23 on that 🙂? Mwah*
Was it even decent? Was the crowd massive, or just ??

Anyway, I saw someone mention how they haven't listened to them in years, yet they still remember every single lyric... there’s something incredibly true about that. I stopped listening to them ages ago—really, quite a long time—but their songs just stayed etched in my brain, and they aren't going anywhere. Even today, if a track comes on, it's like I was blasting the CD just yesterday. 🙂

Dr. Curic is absolutely wonderful in his lectures!!! 😍 Seriously, he’s actually a great guy. He’s attentive, patient, and you can ask him about the most mindless nonsense (like I do, for instance...🙄 😁) and he’ll still take the time to answer everything.

There is just one massive downside—waiting for your paperwork is an absolute nightmare, so if you want to get things done, paying for a private tutor or service is definitely worth it. I was stuck waiting for my papers for four whole months. 😲 Just imagine... by the time your results finally show up, you could practically be dead and gone...😁

Honestly, eating meat isn't about health—or the lack thereof. I love the taste of a good steak, far be it from me to suggest otherwise—but I just can't stomach the idea of slaughtering animals. That’s my bottom line. Whether it's healthy or unhealthy? I don't give a damn. I just...🙂...know I
(And please, for the love of everything, let's not veer off into a whole debate about vegetarianism! 🙂)

Robin Collins5, I totally feel you. It’s honestly such a bummer. I'm dealing with the exact same thing over here—except for me, antibiotics are basically out of the question because there's a real chance I've already developed some sort of resistance to them. 🙂

And don't even get me started on the whole immunity thing... I take my vitamins, I eat clean, I ride my bike constantly, I swim two miles every single day during the summer, and I don't even touch meat... I mean, what else am I supposed to do? 😲 😁
Some people are just genetically predisposed to catch this stuff—it doesn't matter how careful they are—while others seem to dodge it entirely unless they're being reckless... I guess that's just how the deck is stacked. 😎

Robin, which camp do you fall into? 😛 🙂
Flu symptoms in Health ·
About a week or so ago, I started hearing whispers that some new strain of the common cold—or maybe it’s the flu, honestly, I could never tell the difference 🙂—is making its rounds again. Naturally, I was right at the front of the line for it; that’s just how my luck works.

Has anyone else here fallen ill lately? It’s hit my lungs incredibly hard, and I’ve already heard from a few other people feeling the same way... how are you all dealing with this? 😕
The Virgin Suicides in Movies ·
Sure, the music is fine, but strictly as a backdrop for that movie—that’s where it actually finds its purpose. Maybe it just comes down to musical taste, and honestly, you can't really argue with that! 😉 Regardless, compared to their other albums, this one feels monotonous; it flows, sure, but there's zero variation...
To some people, Lisa Germano is pure despair, but to me? She's perfect.

Pretentious? Look, in a way, yeah... there are plenty of beautiful shots, like I said, but they don't actually say anything. That tendency to stifle a message in favor of "artistry" is baked right into the concept. I'm not docking points from the film's quality—not at all. I liked the movie, but liking it doesn't mean I think it's realistic or objectively "good." Besides, what counts as pretentious to you, Jose Miller17, might be different for me... respect! 🙂
The Virgin Suicides in Movies ·
The Virgin Suicides is honestly pathetic—it’s just sitting there in a corner, gathering dust. Sure, it works fine enough as a backdrop for a movie, but as a standalone piece of art? It is incredibly tedious. The cinematography is stunning, and the girls are beautiful, and maybe the story could have actually gone somewhere interesting, but... everything just feels hollow and superficial—borderline pretentious. I watched the film shortly after its release, so the specific details are a bit fuzzy now, but I vividly remember that lingering sense of confusion it left me with. Coppola starts things up and then just refuses to finish them—probably intentionally—but it doesn't come across as some stroke of genius. It just feels unfinished. That said, it is absolutely worth a watch.
Two points for Lucy Liu. Man, oh man...
Two points for Christina Applegate. Seriously...
And honestly, every once in a while, I’d love to see TV networks just go all in and give us more of what they were serving up back when they were spoiling Felicity rotten. Just a thought...

And I am begging you—just leave Adam Sandler alone!!!!
🙂

I know it was screened at the academy during some kind of
pre-Oscar promo thing.
It’s hitting theaters this summer.
And Paul Thomas Anderson will be hitting theaters this summer too...! 🙂

Dr. Miller. Student services.
I was actually called in within seven days of my files being transferred.
The nurse there is older, but she is an incredibly wonderful person.
He is too.
He might come off a bit gruff—sort of a butcher vibe—but he is genuinely attentive and just damn good at what he does.

Anyway, I heard from a few people that out of all the social services, this student clinic is the best and most reliable one around.
